KenDBerryMD keto for almost 2 years. My BP is still high. Lately heart palpitations. Everything else has improved. I am normal weight 71 yr old woman. My stress and anxiety level is higher lately and I had surgery in September to repair broken arm. Doc found a slight heart murmur. I have not felt the same either physically or mentally since then. On a low dose BP med since then also. First meds since 2011. I also exercise and do weight machines. I’m kind of flummoxed. Heart murmur causing thisBP issue? The doc kind of scared me and I am anxious about the heart thing. I am getting a stress test in 2 weeks. And a check up. I doubt she will like my cholesterol score so more scaring by doc. 🙄
i switched to keto and my blood pressure went up ten points on both numbers. it scared me. is that even normal? i have heard the diet was good for blood pressure and nothing about it doing this. i finally gave it up when i got out of the bathtub and my blood pressure was so high i could hear my heart beat in my head and i had to lay down for a bit since i felt like i was going to stroke out.
Missy Laneous I had that reaction when I tried a detox vegan diet. We’re not all wired the same. I’m six or seven months into keto. I lost 35 pounds. I’m 2 months into going to the gym. My blood pressure is all over the place. I fired my doc over insisting I take bp med and statin. My BP is always high in a doctor’s office!
Janet Harlow have you had a CAC CT Scan? Look up Ivor Cummins on you tube and Dr Nadir Ali... hopefully Dr Berry will send you a message with his personal contact for a private consult with him.
I had uncontrollable Hypertension. I was on 3 meds for BP, Diabetes , and Statins. In 3 months on Keto I was off of all of those medications. I lost 75lbs last year. I still have 70lbs to go...but I feel Amazing!
Ann-Marie Y5 how did you stop diabetes meds? I am taking Metformin and 4 months into keto and 18:6 I’ve got a normal a1c. Dr said I have to stay on metformin all my life and that keto is dangerous etc etc bla bla bla. Did you stop metformin immediately after your first a1c was ok or phase it out slowly?
@@MsTony1402 You should get a different doctor. You should be able to cut your metphormin in 1/2 for a couple days and see how your bg is. If still good go off for a few days and see how it goes. Metphormin often doesn't help the bg that much, so if you are consistent on the keto diet you should be fine. Just be sure you continue checking your BG and A1C.
I am 70 years old, and my blood pressure averaged about 145/90. On March 1, 2023 I started Keto after thankfully finding Dr. Ken Berry on TH-cam. I started tracking my blood pressure 3 1/2 months later, and it now averages from about 104/70 to 109/75. Plus my glucose level is level is no longer pre-diabetic. My additional goal is to help my memory. (I was on 2 different statins over a 2 year period and could not believe how my memory started to be upsetting at times. This is yet another improvement, and I'm hoping that the improvement will continue getting even better.) The added benefit (which was not my original goal like the cholesterol and glucose levels) is that I have dropped from 156 lbs down to 131. I LOVED all carbs and am the last person who I thought could ever give all that up. But after my first week or 2, I have been totally committed - and I am not hungry. Thank you so much, Dr. Berry! I think I have watched every one of your videos which has changed my outlook on life because I feel so much better.
I've been on a ketogenic diet for about 14 months. I found notes on my experience at the 12 week milestone. I originally started the keto diet so I could lose weight and hopefully reduce my blood pressure. My blood pressure was under control with medication. Without medication, it would run 150+/95+ . As a truck driver, diet and exercise are extremely challenging. So I started the diet to lose weight and lower my blood pressure but I experienced so many other benefits. I'm still in disbelief that I experienced so many other benefits. I started noticing changes within the first week. Here is what I experienced: 1 week - some weight loss 2 weeks - more weight loss - less cravings - less snacking 3 weeks - significantly reduced blood pressure so with my doctor's guidance, I reduced my medication - reduced appetite - reduced fatigue and I didn't need a midday power nap 4 weeks - no more joint pain which I took as being normal for my age but now it's gone - eliminated back pain - blood pressure normal so I discontinued all my BP meds - weight loss continues 5 weeks - appetite is reduced so I only eat one to two small meals a day and I'm not hungry - these weird skin tags are literally falling of my body - I wake up feeling much more rested and it seems I'm refreshed with less sleep. It's so easy to continue this diet because it almost immediately controls your appetite and cravings. Other diets leave you hungry and you will continue to crave. Just a little over a year and my wife and I feel amazing. My blood pressure remains normal at around 125/83 without any medication.
What a success story 👏 I'm so glad for you. I was a truck driver once and had to drop that job because of similar reasons. And now after 4 years I'm into keto. Only 1 week though but I already feel great 👍 thanks for sharing it really helps me!!!! God bless 🙏
One of the main objections against a Low Carb High Fat diet (LCHF) is that "we don't know how dangerous it will be to consume all that saturated fat and salt in the long run ". Well, I have been on it for more than 9 years by now, and I still enjoy all the favors of this diet, with no side effects whatsoever (except possibly the abundant peeing :) ). As early as a month after I started eating this way, my blood pressure had gone from 140/90 (with pills) to 120/80 (without pills- I simply had to stop taking them since I almost fainted when walking up stairs or uphill). Now it is typically 110/70, and I am 78 years old. I experienced many other benefits from the diet change too. My knee arthritis stopped bothering me long ago- no more pain, and greater flexibility in all joints. Warts disappeared gradually, and no new ones have ever come to visit. My gut is functioning like clockwork, and it is 100% wind free- hallelujah. I need two hours less sleep each night, without force, and I have much more energy than can be expected from someone my age. How can anyone NOT eat this way? It is never too late to start!
I just went Carnivore in February 2024, after 8 years of keto and IF. Blood sugar is my issue, tested DNA in January and found out I am predisposed to Insulin Resistance. So Carnivore makes sense. Blood Sugar now stays below 100. 54 to 75 fasting, 75 to 95 eating. Love it!!!
I started keto in June 2019. You helped me understand the way of eating. My blood pressure has dropped significantly from 160/100 to 99/61. I feel 20 years younger. I’ve lost about 40 lbs. it’s like being pulled out of quick sand. Thank you!
I’ve had hypertension since I was 19. Meds never brought me near a normal range, more like borderline. I’ve done every diet under the sun and never saw any change. Switched to keto and within a few weeks my numbers were better, and I was eating EXTRA salt. Worked like a charm.
The funny thing is Elizabeth the masses won’t believe it,i have had borderline high blood pressure all my life I’m now 60 and medicines barely brought it down I started doing keto within a few months on it I’m in the higher normal ranges and using no meds and much more pink salt than ever go figure
Same here , the low salt recommended by my physician was slowly keep killing me. My mother in law still don't believe I am on normal (even low at times ) bp while munching on fried 🥓 BTW o was on the dash, the "best diet " according to foolish sheep
Rockie mountin ...yep , exactly ! Going through same thing. My doctor has failed me! Wish I had better doctors where I live. Thank goodness we have Dr. Ken Berry!👍🏻
Lisa Hause hello Lisa I’m a type 2 diabetic and these people have literally saved me from losing my toes and feet my kidneys and eye sight to diabetes in no particular order Dr Jason Fung,Dr Ken Berry, Dr Berg, Dr Sten Ekberg, Dr Becky Gillaspy,Beat Diabetes,Thomas Delauer, Butter Bob,Sime Land, and others these folks are fantastic my own Dr was just stringing me along watching me get sicker and sicker by the day,the biggest mistake I made was trusting this man for the last 20 Years,I’m now on a guest to try and save and improve what’s left of my health
Can you please tell me if this diet is alright for my mum who's 76 and has thyroid, diabetes as well as high blood pressure?.. She is in so much medication that it's a big part of her daily routine and really gets her down. I would really appreciate your advice on this as her health is very worrying. Thank you maree
40 years of suffering, 10's of thousands of dollars, doctor after doctor and i found you. Thank You Ken D Berry MD. You have the Truth! I only first Was interested in your Channel with the video on skin tags. I fo r over many decades suffered crippling, devastating suffering. Doctor after doctor, Huge debilitating suffering. So I quit sugar. Then I quit wheat. I lost 34 lbs. I lost the inflamation. I feel great. Thank you with all my heart . Since I have helped many to your TH-cam. You are the answer and deliver the truth. Yea diets are stupid. But Ken I eat all I want and am way way better. I love you! Sincerely, Eldon
Me, too. I have had high blood pressure for years and been to several different doctors over time and not a one of them recommended a diet of any kind.
Was low carb keto and my bp was still sometimes as high as 154/96. I knew I was was going to hear a medicine pitch at my next dr visit. Went 90% carnivore and within a month my readings were between 110/60 and 120/80. I’ve been mostly carnivore for over a year and a half now and my bp is always good. I eat mostly meat based with a small amount of dairy, fruit and nuts, occasional vegetable. Not only is my blood pressure doing great but I’ve lost weight that I couldn’t lose even on keto, and in general feel so much better.
Hyronike Suyono Thank you for this information and Keto OMAD. I think I want to try this! Any helpful hints you can give? I have seen a lot of people lower BP with Keto.
@@LateafaNichelle sorry for the late reply. No special hint, we just need to pass the adaptation period for our body to use our own body fat as fuel. Drinking green tea will help enhance your metabolic rate.
My dad had high blood pressure issues and I knew mine was creeping up as I got older, but I turned a blind eye to it 12/16/19 I bought a bluetooth blood pressure cuff and it said my blood pressure was 177/127, not stage 1, not stage 2, but hypertensive crisis. scared the crap out of me 12/19/19 I began watching your videos and watched all of the ones on keto and began keto that day Just like you said, weight loss was rapid at the start. For me, 5 lbs in the first 3 days. This is the most painless diet I've been on. I'm satiated for a long period of time and eating a big plate of bacon, eggs and kale or asparagus seasoned with salt is not torture by any means, nor was the almost 12oz ribeye I grilled for dinner tonight. I don't have those horrible hunger pains from other diets. My blood pressure was coming down slowly, but seemed to plateau 1/2/20 I heard you say that intermittent fasting combined with keto increased weight loss and encouraged autophagy I liked the sound of that and was still scared by my BP, so I gave it a try. Immediately starting the 6 hour feeding window. Today, about a month and a half later, 1/31/20, I've lost 25 lbs, gained muscle from the long walks (from 2.2 miles to now 8.7 miles when I have the time. My energy and endurance now exceed my patience for walking, so I think I'll begin running soon.) I suggest you take cardio lightly until about 6 weeks in. I helped someone move 2 weeks in and overdid it with my newfound energy. My cardiovascular system hadn't adjusted yet, and my heart began to race during very heavy lifting. I run uphill on my walks now and am not out of breath anymore let alone gasping like I used to. My skin is tightening as I'm losing weight, which I believe is the autophagy you spoke of. I'm going to get my body fat percentage tested to find out how much more I need to lose, but I think it's probably another 22lbs and I know I'll reach it this time and be able to stay healthy. My BP is in the low stage 2 / high stage 1 (130/81 just now), so I do want to lower it more. I think it's still coming down. Loosing 22 more lbs will surely help. With the convenience of the bluetooth BP cuff and the help of the app, I've now realized my stage 1 readings coincide with my weekends, go figure. I think a change of occupation may be next. Thank you Dr. Berry! My mom is now watching your videos and surprised me with some of the supplements you suggested yesterday. May God bless you and your family.
Just some advice from a non-doctor (take it for what it's worth), but there was a huge long-term study (may have been nurses in Sweden, or something like that), and they found certain traits for those who lived to be old - one of them was higher blood pressure, the people who made it well into old age ALL had higher blood pressure (they didn't give numbers though). My point being that your original numbers were damn scary (I agree!), but your 130/81, to me is just fine for the long term, and I doubt the medical community can make a case that your at any elevated risk with your new numbers. So, if it does go down further due to Keto, fine, but if it were me (and I wish were me), I'd lay off any pills at those new numbers.
@@Mike-fj2ln Interesting, and I've never taken any medicine for it. If I had done that, I may have never made the necessary changes and who knows what that stuff is really doing to you long-term?
I actually have never had BP issues until now. I have been doing pretty strict keto since June 2018, Lost over 70 pounds. In Nov 2019, to started EF 42x3. That’s when I noticed my BP was 192/120. I immediately quit the EF but went back to IF. Still BP is very high. Dr put me on hydrochlorothiazide 25mg-1 week ago. Still BP is very high and heart rate on Apple Watch is crazy high. Calling my doc back tomorrow, but in the mean time can someone give me some links to info about high BP being not so bad. TIA.
So even before watching this video, I found out I was well within Stroke levels with my blood pressure. At the age of 37! I was also 265 lbs (according to my scale.) Between intermittent fasting (16 to 20 hours without food), changing my diet to be more Keto-like (I did not make it a goal to adhere to it strictly but I have been naturally leaning that way with diet changes), and just doing 5k steps even just every few days (it was harder to do it daily in the winter), and taking only 20mg of Lisinopril, I have lost just over 37lbs between December and today (March 30th.) Where once I could barely stand up without feeling excruciating pain in my feet, muscle spasms, fatigue, and couldn't even sleep in a bed (I had to sleep in a hammock), now I can do fast-paced walking (practically a jog) for up to 8 minutes and still feel great. I can go up the stairs without feeling like I am going to pass out. I have a lot of improvement left to do, but I am super proud of how far I have gone. Seeing this video has really reinforced all of that. My BP is ranging within Hypertension Stg 1 levels. Still not where I want it to be, but definitely a vast improvement.
I was diagnosed with high blood pressure in October 2018. My pressure was 160/100 or 160/110. I started taking a water pill which I know can hurt your kidneys. After I saw the results of a friend on Keto my husband & I decided to start Keto the first week of May 2019. By the end of May I had lost 15-16 pounds. My pressure was under 120/80. A few days before my next appointment on 6/3 I ran out of the water pill. The doctor told me to try going on without the pill for two weeks and see if the pressure remains normal. I have been off the water pill for eight months.I eat as much salt as I want. Pressure still under 120/80. I have lost 26 more pounds since then.
I used to have really low blood pressure. About 110/83. I am 62 now and my blood pressure slowly went up to 142/89. Because of another one of your videos I decided to try carnavore for 30 days. I was shocked after 30 days and my blood pressure is 98/63. I also lost 18 pounds. Thank you Dr Berry.
May 2021, I weighed 329, (classified as morbidly obese) blood pressure 193/110. Put on 2 blood pressure meds. Went on keto/carnivore. I now (June 2022) weigh 183. Now in normal BMI range. Off both blood pressure meds. Feel absolutely fantastic. And I love eating this way. THANK YOU DR. BERRY!!!
@@LateafaNichelle , go on pinterest and enter 'keto burgers/pork/veg/' etc into the search bar. A lot of them even give you the macros and some of the recipes are increadibly good! I use Carb Manager and (if you go Premium, about $40/year) they also have great recipes with all the macros and you can track it. Best of luck.
I have struggled my entire adult life with hypertension. After my transition to Low Carb, 25g or less, I am off all my medications. No more hypertension. No more gout. No more insulin resistance. My testosterone injections were no longer required. At 56 yrs old Im back in a size 30 pant, embarrassed to say I was a 40 waist. I have lost almost 80 lbs in 12 months and feeling great. Thank you for all the great content.
Can i ask, i have incredible problems with gout, im now 27, and im really sick of this damn pain. Can you tell me a bit about your experience around this and your gout changing?
My husband was scheduled for surgery on January 17th. His bp was around 139-140 to 145 . I am on the keto diet with normal to low bp. I convinced him to just do keto for a few weeks prior to going into surgery just so his bp is lower. He didnt do strict keto but gave up his sugars and his bp is now around 120. In just two weeks!
Dr. Ken went to the doctor this week for the flu. Doctor checked blood pressure and said it was excellent . Asked if I wanted refills but told her I don't need medicine anymore the low carb /IF approach has worked and so thankful my Pastor mentioned it in a sermon almost two years ago. To God be the glory I have lost 113 pounds so far !
Thanks, been doing carnivore since mid April of this year, thanks to Your Informed commentary. Was 197lbs am now at 161lbs. No longer need atorvastatin, metformin and am down to 40mg of lisinopril and taking 10mg of amlodipine infrequently. Also had severe fatty liver and was told by Doctor that for me it could be fatal. Had abdomen pelvis Cat Scan which said” Liver: normal in size with smooth surface contour.” I’m a 75 year old man and have more energy than I’ve had in years. DR. Berry, thank You, I hope to have a few more years on this carcass.
In 2016 I had a heart attack and quadruple heart bypass. My bp was 170/x without meds, but with meds 140/x. A month after my bypass I started doing keto against my doctor's advice. Two months after that I started doing intermittent fasting, and then extended fasts too. I came off all bp meds (I had been taking 3 meds daily). I got down to where my normal bp was about 105/60 or so. Low carb is a miracle, and combined it with fasting is the key to great health. My cardiologist released me, he said that my heart was so healthy that I did not need to see him anymore.
Doug I'm 67 and a retired physician. I went keto a little over a year ago, now even more committed-what Dr. Berry says is all true. He understates it. I lost 42#, pre-diabetes: gone. Hypercholesterolemia on Lipitor 20-gone including, the drug. Trigylcerides only 45, once 400. On antidepressants for 28 years-couldn't got off-mood normal meds gone since 12/2018. Chronic kidney disease stage 3-resolved. On 1/2 my blood pressure meds, and likely am going to have to drop more. Degen arthritis much better. Energy and sleep great. Heartburn gone, headaches gone. Eat on a 20:6 schedule, fast 24 hrs two days/ week, swim 50 laps 6 days a week, lift weights 2 days a week. Don't get hungry even if at the gym 2.5 hours when haven't eaten. What are you willing to do to feel great? Once you beat the cravings and sugar addiction after about three weeks, and fall off the wagon a couple of times, you may become fanatical and realize that the Krispy Kreme doughnut you thought you loved isn't worth it-says I who ate 13 one Sat morning at one sitting!
3 years ago I went to my Doctor to request a 3 month supply of my Blood Pressure medication because I was going travelling to SE Asia. I was told that this was not possible and the maximum permitted was 1 month. This turned out to be the best thing that has ever happened to me because I realised that I could no longer rely on Doctors to keep me healthy and I needed to take responsibility for my own health. I had one month to do it. I started to research how to lower BP. I came across Dr Ken Berry on TH-cam and he had some videos on BP. I listened, I acted and lo and behold it worked. My BP slowly came down week by week until it was normal at 120/70, where it has remained to this day. Into the bargain I lost 3 1/2 Stones in Bodyweight and my recurring heartburn disappeared. I am now 60 years old and feel 20 years younger. This has all come about from changing my lifestyle to a low carb Keto diet with periods of intermittent fasting. It’s not difficult.
I am 55 yrs old 5'9 I was 235lbs mostly belly fat. Blood pressure was consistently 160/90 resting heart rate 110 to 120bpm constantly doctor put me on beta blockers metropropol.i went on very strict keto 20g carbs per day.within 9 months . I was 185lbs lost 50lbs ! BP with no meds 120/70 RHR went down to 70bpm. This was all done with verry little exercise due to injuries that I was recovering from. The doctors never even suggested losing weight or diet changes. It's nuts! Thanks Dr Berry for all you do!
My BP was 212/96 at its highest. Was put on Losartan 100mg and also a cholesterol med. Weighed 208. Switched to keto diet, exercise 3x a week and within 7 months I lost 60lbs. A1C is down to 5.1 and off both meds, everything in normal range. Keto is a lifesaver!
The question is how long will take before the average person stops Keto and returns to their lifestyle after 12 months. Need lifestyle changes not hijacking the system. This generation is one of jacking the system to achieve desired state.
I wonder that as well. I have lost weight eating low carb. I have lost weight eating high carb. I have lost weight eating moderate carb. What I have found is it was all about calories and exercise. Now if you have certain issues already then I can see where it may be beneficial to adopt a certain diet but I have recently for the first time switched to a higher carb but all whole grain type carbs and lean meats and tons of veggies and have lost 40lbs in just a few months and blood pressure dropped from about 130/78 to 110/61. So idk.
This is Jim from Singapore. I started Keto diet in August 2019 after watching all Videos of Dr Ken Berry. I was at 178 pounds and my average blood pressure was +135-140/95 with medication. Now Jan 2020, my weight is 138-140 range and my BP 120/76. I stopped my medication since September 2019. Thanks so much Dr Ken Berry. I have also shared to my friends who are now reaping the fruits of your videos.
I have lost 20 lbs this past month and my BP is reduced. FYI, one BIG deal is I do not feel hungry, no wishing for sweets and feel so much better! Thank you, Dr. Berry, for all your information and support!
I truly love your advice!! Its very personal for me ,I am on a recovery of listening to the wrong advice from a Heart Doctor. I had to change how he advised me to eat . I wasn't getting better but worse . He had me on the dash diet. In December of 2019 2 days before Christmas I put myself on keto. And listening to you it has confirmed what is happening to my health . I am doing INCREDIBLE. I have great strength, my congestive heart failure it must be better . I don't retain water in my lower legs or in my lungs I can sleep like a log lol yes I dont need any oxygen to sleep at all and when I walk or do anything I am no longer short of breath or fatigue. I am 59 yrs old and had a stent put in my heart over a year now. My weight in December was 346 lb and today its 312 . My goal is and will be 200lbs . I should say I haven't yet but I will start a very sensible excercise program when I am under 300lb . And I am only 12 lbs from that goal . I do want to add . I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS !!!
Thought of you as I had my two eggs and two slices of bacon. I didn't realize I would enjoy salted, slices of avocado on the side of my meals, but I have. Thank you for helping people be healthy w/o the dangerous medications. You give others hope instead of fear. A fine physician and caring, human being. Best to you and your family.
You give me hope. I've been on Lusartan and I started having diarrhea with it. My doctor didn't believe it had anything to do with the medication. But he wasn't the one having to clean up my bathroom. My body is very sensitive to medication, so I know what I can and can't take. He gave me a new prescription that was going to cost over $100. I'm 67 and my Medicare doesn't cover it. For years I've had higher numbers 130-140/80-90. Now I'm at the point I'm afraid I'll have a stroke. I'm sure a Keto type diet will work for me. I always feel better when I do it. I'm happy to know I'm on the right track, and it makes me feel I can succeed. Plus, I'm increasing my activity level. Nothing worse than adding stress over worrying about all of it. Have to focus and keep going. Thank you.
My husband was on two blood pressure meds, Lisinopril 20 mg daily and Norvasc 10 mg daily. His blood pressure stayed around 140/88. 3 months into doing keto diet, he stopped the Norvasc, cut the lisinopril dose in half and now his blood pressure is 110/70’s! Many many amazing health benefits to eating healthy keto! ❤️
I'm on the very same mlg and meds...Im just starting keto I'm about a month into it havent had much success . I know it's a learning process to get the diet to work for you ..I'm hoping to get this under control ..I've been on these meds for years ..so happy to hear it worked for your husband.
Brenda Rochon it definitely is a learning process! Just remember no bread, no potatoes, no corn, no sugar and stay away from processed foods as much as possible! The only sweetener we use is Stevia with Erythritol or monk fruit. All the others artificial sweeteners like sweet n low, Splenda, malitol, etc. can spike your insulin as much as regular sugar. With Keto we are trying to keep insulin levels down. Also intermittent fasting works. I’ve lost 32 pounds in 5 months! Dr. Berry is changing the world! For the better of course!
※ Shulamitefire ※ Incendiumata Amoriolio ※ ideally you want to keep your total carb counts less than 50 grams a day. If you’re trying to lose weight you want to be less than 20. So sweet potatoes are very high in carbs so I would say no. Dr Berry has a good video on the best keto vegetables to eat. I watch all his videos sometimes twice and there’s a lot to learn. I also watch Dr. Eric Berg on TH-cam. These two doctors have changed my health for the good.
64 year old woman here. In 2016, my blood pressure was 180/90. Doc put me on medication. I became accidentally keto and started intermittent fasting. I currently fast 18 hours daily, plus a 3-5 day extended fast monthly. I am moving towards a carnivore way of eating. Today is my 6th day. With my lifestyle changes plus medication, my blood pressure got so low that as of Nov 2019 my daily readings were around 83/63. At that point I was FINALLY able to convince my doc to take me off medication. Before it got that low she kept insisting it was the medication that was regulating my BP, instead of my lifestyle changes. Now without medication, my daily readings are regularly between 113/72 - 126/75. I'm a bit annoyed when my BP is as "high" as 126/75 and that I haven't been able to get my diastolic more regularly under 75; but it beats the heck out of 180/90.
My first reading is 180/110 and if I wait a bit it drops down to 160/100, if I really relax I get to 145/95. I wish I had 126/76 it would make me so happy.
@DadoOfficial Blood pressure monitor instructions say to wait 30 minutes sitting quietly. Don't eat or drink anything 30 minutes before. Make sure your bladder is empty. Taking a few deep slow breaths helps to relax plus opens arteries with oxygen.
@@sqwop if its 140/90 u are normal... Check dr berry's other video about "how to check blood pressure" American heart association guidelines ia 120/80 but not AAFP... AAFP guidelines is what Dr berry follows.. And is what seems to make more sense.. Check tht out n don't worry.. goodluck
@@navazshahrukhkatpitia1951 I suppose you can't put everyone under the same category, I'm also a bit big (muscle and fat) and tall and I always think it's normal for me plus I'm not very active. I find it odd that bodybuilders are classed obese because of their mass so these categories might be a little outdated. Most people tell me I don't look overweight let alone obese even though the scale says I am apparently. Thanks for the recommendation.
I started this at the start of 2019 because my Dr. wanted to put me on medications for BP and cholesterol. I wanted to get my numbers down with out the meds. I found Keto, and 1 year later, the results speak for themselves. Blood Pressure: Dec 2018: 120/92 - Dec 2019: 110/70 All my markers were down, and I feel better at 46, than I did at 36. My favorite stat is my Triglyceride levels: Triglyceride: Dec 2018: 394 mg/dL - Dec 2019: 86 mg/dL
Started 2 years ago at 230 lbs taking meds for high blood pressure, heartburn and anti depressants. Within one week, off the heartburn med, one month later BP was normal, then 2 months off ALL meds. Have maintained a comfortable 170, have more energy than I have had in years and regained so much mental clarity! Thank you, Dr. Berry!
4:05 pm may 2 2003 Have been following Dr. Berry's advice for 12 weeks. Started out on 2 meals per day max 6 hours between meals. After 2 weeks went to 1 meal per day and doing great with regards to weight loss and appetite. To date lost 27 lbs and my blood pressure averages over past 4 weeks 118/ 65. Prior to my new eating habits I was taking 4 bp meds per day.aprox 1 year ago my BP was out of control 😢 in the 180/100 range. I'm 71 and feeling great. Thanks for all you do Dr.Berry
Back in August of 2019 i was 315lbs with high blood pressure and high blood sugar. I do carnivore and as I write this I am down to 230lbs (180lbs is the goal). I do OMAD also. This diet works, you just have to find your sweet spot. Thanks Dr. Ken Berry
Hi Dr Berry. I was on the verge of stage 1 high blood pressure. My numbers were steady at around 135/85. The breaking point was when I was sitting at Walgreens and reading the side effects of the blood pressure med I was prescribed to begin. I, at this point decided it was time to break the carb/sugar addiction. I went home and began watching your videos and others and i began carnivore with organ meets/electrolytes. After five days of fasting almost 24 hours and lightly walking a couple of miles around the block, i began keto flu and my blood pressure reading is 122/80. I know this is a start and I am glad that your videos have inspired me to fight for life independency away from big pharma. Thanks for helping us.
Dr. Berry, just wanted to personally thank you for basically being the one that spearheaded my weight loss journey. A year ago I was very overweight, diabetic, renal failure, and high BP. A year later, I'm down 105lbs, my kidneys are still bad but stable, and blood pressure is good and hoping in the next few months to start going off some of the meds. I feel better, look better, and I'm on this diet for life. Thanks again.
Advice is spot on! When I was 29 years old, my triglyceride count was 376. I had a diet that consisted of daily breakfast tacos, energy, drinks, and other high carb/high sugar meals. Doctor advised to cut down the sugar and carb intake and within a month. My numbers were back in line where they should be.
Thanks Dr. Berry! I shared on Facebook. I'm off all prescription meds, including 2 BP meds I was on. Also have reversed pre-diabetes, no more fatty liver per scans, off psych drugs, and am now normal after having CKD stage 2 for so long. Oh, also, vision 3x better, more energy, down 70+ lbs, and cholesterol is good. BAM! I love keto!
Definitely works. I was pre hypertensive with readings in the 140/85 range. Now I'm 122/70 range. I wasn't put on any drugs, but I definitely saw it creeping up and was getting worried.
I went to the hospital with a "hypertensive crisis." I spent months trying to manage it and lose weight, but failed. Two years later, I was diagnosed with type two diabetes. I pretty much decided the drugs I was taking accelerated my metabolic issues. I was taking the following: 81mg aspirin Carvedilol 2x daily Hydralazine 3x daily Allopurinol HCTZ Lisinopril I reversed diabetes with keto and fasting. In addition to reducing my inflammation and bringing down my A1c, to 4.8, my blood pressure also came down. We gradually de-prescribed all of it. I _did_ end up going back on half a 5mg (the smallest available) Lisinopril per day because my blood pressure crept up a bit, but I'm currently taking that half of one of those except when fasting for whole days, because my blood pressure gets too low if I take it while fasted. Oh, and I lost over 100 pounds and eight inches, so far, off my waist. _________ Edit: punctuation.
Yes, drugs make the problems worse. Every drug has a side effect. God did not put drugs on the planet, man did. Everything that is needed to sustain life is already available naturally. Drugs is a racket and a multi-billion dollar industry. I will never trust another "medical" doctor again as long as I live. Find a reputable nutritionist/holistic practitioner or become a student of nutrition yourself and you will not go wrong.
@Jeanne Parker Not really. The positive effects of fasting and going keto have been known to precede weight loss in many people. Some diet doctors have plainly put it "You lose fat because you're healthy. You don't get healthy because you lose fat."
I had high blood pressure and symptoms of pre diabetic . My doctor just gave me medications for the symptoms which didn’t help . It was the you tube videos that helped me understand the root cause of my blood pressure. Since I changed my diet to low carb and intermittent fasting, my blood pressure is now back to normal!
Jan 2019 I was diagnosed high blood pressure high cholesterol and diabetes type 2. I went to dr for a dot physical and my blood sugar was 533. I was taking stor a statin 40mg January xr 20 mg lisinopril and 10mg farxiga. I weigh 236. I found these videos and others in April 2019. By June I was off my meds. I now weigh 175 and have a 2yr medical card for cdl Could not be happier I do one meal a day now and have for a while as it is what works best for me. Thanks and keep spreading the word!!!!!
I had high blood pressure from high cortisol(stress) for a very long time, and that did a lot of things to me, not just high blood pressure, but also high pulse rate, and i became deficient in some vitamins and minerals, had insomnia, i needed 1 to 3 hours to fall asleep because i felt my heart pumping and couldn't sleep but when i learned about this diet the ketogenic diet, i researched a lot and learned a lot and it really helped me a lot, it doesn't happen overnight it takes few days to adapt, the first 4 days my bp was still high at the 5th it started going lower and every day after, it was going lower to normal points today is the 9th day and i'm feeling a lot better my bp is close to normal and my mood is a lot better compared to how i was feeling when i was on high carb diet. In short this diet is keto + IF (intermitent fasting) but not just keto it's healthy keto and by healthy keto i mean we need to consume a lot of vegetables to increase the vitamins and minerals because when we start this diet we dump a lot of water in the first week and that depletes some of electrolytes so in order to compensate for that we need to beef up the vegetables 7-10 cups per day i know it's a lot but it really helps. Fasting is another great thing about lowering high blood pressure, at first don't go hard on yourself, listen to your body don't starve yourself when you start feeling hungry eat, the first day you can start with 12-15 hours then increase it gradually up to 20 or 21 hours from 3 to 2 meals per day, but don't starve yourself because that can create additional problems like vitamin and mineral deficiencies, you can take B vitamins during the fast, but take them from natural source like nutritional yeast and minerals like magnesium and potassium. I was living with very high blood pressure for a long time but now it's getting better thanks to people like Dr.Berry.
Six months ago, my blood pressure at the doc’s was something ridiculous like 189/125. I was already on 50mg. atenolol everyday. She was adamant to start writing more prescriptions. I said no and went home and did a lot of research including most importantly listening to Dr. Berry. In one day, I gave up breakfast, all grains, all sugars, all high carb fruits and vegetables, and all processed foods. I also included intermittent fasting. After six months, I’ve lost 45 lbs., I’m not on diabetes or BP or diuretics or statin meds anymore, and my blood pressure is now about 105/65. And inflammation is gone. My ring now spins around my finger! And here’s a note about salt. Salt is one of the electrolytes and is essential to good heart rhythm. One of my problems was also a-fib. It was determined that for some reason I had a hard time hanging on to potassium and salt and I suffered many episodes of a-fib. I was taking two 20 meq potassium tablets a day. The diuretic was to help lower BP but the minute I stopped taking it I no longer had trouble holding on to potassium. Funny how the doctors never figured that one out. Now, my keto diet provides lots of potassium and my “salt to taste” method provides the exact amount of sodium I need. No more a-fib episodes. No more high BP. No more high blood sugar. And my digestive track loves me.
Been doing some form of keto, lchf or carnivore for the last 3 years as a late 40 something male. Hormone levels have greatly improved as well as mood, energy and sleep. I've always been slender and able to eat whatever i wanted without gaining weight or elevating blood pressure or cholesterol too much(borderline). Once turning forty however, i started to get fatigued on regular basis, would catch whatever flu or cold was going around. No amount of sugar or caffeine would alleviate the chronic tiredness. Thank God for people like Dr. Berry who are getting the word out that there is hope for your health.
I have hypertension, high triglycerides, high cholesterol, fatty liver, and type 2 diabetes. I started watching your videos back in November 2019 and following your advice. In two months I'm down 23lbs and feeling great. I have not gone back to the doctor yet, but have an appointment scheduled in March. My last labs weren't even able to measure my triglycerides as they were out of the range of the test. I'm eating mostly a carnivore diet as I'm not a fan of most veggies. I do eat the occasional side salad with my mean coated in bleu cheese dressing. Bacon, steak, burger patties, chicken wings (not breaded), cheese, and sausages are my staple diet. I've had so many people tell me "you're going to have a heart attack" that I've lost count. I fast 16 hours every day and seldom snack between lunch and dinner (my only two meals...and I DON'T get hungry). We'll see some March...stay tuned!
I started a plant based and have dropped the 2 anti hypertensive drugs I was on, also my arthritis pain is reduced and manageable now because of the inflammation levels from animals products being gone. It may not help everyone but has changed my life.
I went to the doctor for an unrelated matter. My blood pressure was up near 190/100, which earned me a good telling off. The medication reduced my BP a little but also gave me edema in my ankles. I did some research and switched to 10 mg lisinopril at night and 5 mg of amlodipine in the morning. (I can buy these over the counter in Thailand) I had very good control with average BP 125/75. I went on a Keto diet to lose a few KG and in 2 months lost about 6 kg. (I now weigh 72 kg and 1.73 m tall) I had to drop the amlodipine and reduce the lisinopril to 5 mg because my BP dropped alarmingly, sometimes to 100/65 . Salt has no effect, caffeine does. I am 69 years old.
If I drink coffee before my doctor appointment my BP will go up. My morning walk will do the same. I refuse BP medications because I know that just going to see my doctor makes my heart pound!!
For 3 months, May 29, 2020 to September 1, 2020 I took a 20mg Lisinopril everyday for blood pressure. Got my pressure checked, by my doctor, on August 28, 2020 and my B/P was 162/99. I could not understand, why after 4 months it was still high. I've been doing carnivore for 1 year and 23 days. I switched to 5mg of amlodipine so I'll see how that goes. I'm 57 and weight 150 pounds at 5 feet 6.5 inches tall, so not what I would call fat. No diabetes, heart disease or cancer.
I had high blood pressure for about 10’plus years and ended in the hospital with a hypertension crisis (220/130) until I discovered 6 months ago that by fasting for 16 hours and eating 50 to 100 carbs a day - 2 meals - and exercising everyday for 30-45 minutes I lowered my blood pressure from over 160/ 100 to 115/75 average and stopped taking hydrochlorothiazide ( water pills). I also lowered my A1C from 5.9 to 5.0. My glucose levels are in the low 90s on average from over 120. My body loves it. I can’t wait to tell my doctor. So what Dr. Berry is saying is true. 😊
Well I can attest to this. At age 14 I was diagnosed with hereditary hypertension. Since then I was on medication for hypertension. In the early 1990s, I started working out with weights and running and eating a low-fat diet with moderate carbohydrates and proteins. That’s what most people did back then. I thought by doing that I could lower my blood pressure. Even though during that time, I was in great shape, I was still not able to lower my pressure without medication. Fast forward to about two years ago, I started keto. Within two or three weeks of being on keto, I was able to stop all blood pressure medication. I just wish in the 1990s, I knew about keto. That’s my only regret with keto, is not starting sooner.
For three years I was recommended by my physician to follow the DASH diet and low fat diet. Fast forward a year ago going to the ER with pancreatitis and gal sludge; a cholecystectomy later and now prescribed potassium and hclthyozide😒 and still told to follow a low sodium low fat diet if I wanna control liver issues and hbp. I should find a new physician. Intermittent Fasting, along with Carnivorous/Healthy keto/ kosher eating is the way to go for me. Always enjoy your videos Dr. thank you.
Dr. Berry, I’m a reasonably healthy 33 year old guy who’s always danced with high BP and until recently, had no major issues. In the last few years, I’ve been super susceptible to inflammation in the knees. Started doing my research after a Dr. Visit, and a wake up call with BP of 180/120. Once I found your videos, I began to implement these practices, and in less than a month, I’ve lost almost 15 pounds, haven’t had any joint pain, and the BP is riding at about 130/90. Still some work to do, but you’ve helped steer me back on the right path, and realize how everything ties together. Thank you for what you do!
I'm 61 and spent the past 10 years on 5 or more medications that my family doctor prescribed. In June of 2019, I discovered the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting. It literally has changed my life. I also researched each and every medication that I was taking and decided to stop taking them without consulting my so-called doctor. Hey guess what? I'm still living. I've lost 47 pounds and am the lightest I've been since I was 22 years old.
Started keto 3 years ago. Was on 20mg Lisinopril, 12.5 mg hctz and 100mg celebrex. With meds bp ran in 130s/70-80. Today I'm down 105 lbs, no celebrex (using curcumin formula for joint pain that is minimal compared to 3 years ago) and NO BP meds. BP runs 120s-130s/70s until it's time to donate blood then it's slightly higher but within range. I still have 30-35 more lbs I'd like to lose and it will continue to lower. Definitely a lifestyle change for me. Obesity was my previous lifestyle for probably 55 years or more. I praise God for bringing this into my life. It truly is a life saver. What a blessing you and several others i follow and depend on for truth and information are! Thank you!
I'm starting low carb and supplements, my bp two days ago was 189/118 I'm not over weight I was definitely eating junk food. I knew better than to do that. I hope this works for me!
Thank you Dr. Berry for saving my life! You have taught me how to reverse my type 2 diabetes, lower my doses of high blood pressure meds, improve my fatty liver enzymes, improve the heart burn (Barrett esophagus), skin issues, energy issues (thyroid med), yeast issues, improve mental clarity and emotional issues AND..... bring me at 5'2" and 232lbs to 175, on my way to 125. It's been a two year journey that I try not to get discouraged over cause I see so many lose weight faster, but as I have learned from you, this is a life style and not a temporary diet. How do you thank someone for saving your life?! Please keep up the good work and don't let the system censors keep our nation sick and on meds.
This June I bought a Blood pressure monitor because I felt tired all the time. It was not good 160/90. Went immediately on a Keto diet and 18/6 fasting. Lost 25lbs in 30 days and bp is now 125/64. Saved my life. Plus it was easy.
I've been doing KETO since June 2018, down 80lbs, BP great, never felt better. I'm 49. No blood pressure meds. Also my iron was down around "7" before I started keto and Dr. tested me today and it's up at "14", which he said was good. Thanks for all your videos, they have really helped me on my journey.
I have had high blood pressure my whole entire adult life and I have never been able to find a medical professional to help me get it under control. I am 51 years old, 5'4", 20% body fat, very fit and muscular. I am a personal trainer so I know how to exercise . I have been low carb for the last 6 years or so and I have now been very strict keto for the last 7 weeks. I IF on a regular basis. My BP has not budged at all and remains high. I don't know what else to do. I am going to stick with keto and hope that it eventually helps me because I really don't want to die. I keep watching videos in hopes that something finally speaks to my unique situation.
Doing both recommendations. I am a 43 year-old female nurse. I had just had a baby. My baby was probably nine months old at the time. I was breast-feeding. I had two other children at home. I wouldn’t have said that my life was more stressful than any other mother with three kids. I was holding my own. I needed to pick up a prescription for my son at the local pharmacy. I was not stressed I was without all my kids. And I saw a blood pressure machine and decided to take my pressure. To my surprise my blood pressure was 185/111. I could not believe it. I have hypertension in my family. So I thought with my age and with my family history, this was going to creep on me now. But I am an advocate for natural health and I detested the fact that I may need to be on blood pressure medication. It was difficult for my primary care physician to put me on the typical blood pressure medications because I was breast-feeding. She did a trial of labetelol first and had to max out my dose and then decided to put me on pricardia as an alternative to labeteol when that did not work. Pricardia worked better. While taking these drugs, I was looking for other ways to treat my blood pressure online. It led me to the keto diet which I had heard about but never thought it did anything to blood pressure. I usually heard more fit athletic people who regularly go to the gym talk about keto. I’ve been doing keto since May 2019 and I have to say with confidence that my blood pressure is no longer above 120 systolic. I do not take any medications anymore for my blood pressure. And I do spotcheck myself from time to time to make sure it is indeed not creeping up. I want to incorporate exercise in the future when I have the time. I think that will help even more. I love the keto diet, specifically a clean keto diet. It’s done me and my body wonders.
My doctor tried putting me on high blood meds started this diet and 90 days later was back to normal blood pressure! My doctor said see this pill sure helped you I told him not to go against your word I try to do a diet never took the pills to get these results he couldn’t believe it! Thanks for your continued education with these videos

Yep. It works. Keto & Carnivore. For several years was on 2 injectables and an oral for insulin, 2 cholesterol meds and 3 high blood pressure meds. Within days of strictly following Keto per Dr. Berry I was off the injectables. Within a couple months I was off both cholesterol meds and 2 of 3 blood pressure meds. Big bonus was dropping over 100lbs! Oh, A1c was 5.1 on last visit and all blood values in normal range too! Thank you Dr. Berry! Have stalled on weight loss so am very excited about you upcoming Proper Human Diet symposium. Got my registration in and my t-shirt on! 🙌WOOHOO!🙌
Started KETO December 1, 2019. Having blood pressure of 150~140/85~100 Now I have 110~125/70~85 Also loss 10kgs of weight. From 81 kilograms to 71 kilograms in 2 months.
Had to let you know Dr. Berry, I met my new doctor today, she is a young female. I told her in the beginning that I DO NOT take prescriptions. My BP was high, which always happens going to the DR. She suggested the DASH diet. I told her I follow you and she pulled up your website and is going to follow your channel to learn. I left with no scripts!!! My Cholesterol was high as normal but she calculated and found I am in a great range after all! Thank you Dr. Berry!
@fngsdy53 occasionally, I order at McDonald's, too. I just tell them no bread. They look at me funny, but it works in a pinch. Or you can throw the bread away. Edit: no fries, either. Those "vegetable oil" frying vats are pure evil!
@@widget0028 , can you special order your burger without the bread? If sufficient people start ordering without the bread, the company might start offering a "keto burger": cheese between two meat patties.
Started ketogenic in 2011 while trying paleo. Blood pressure averaged around 110/65 before starting. Dropped to around 80/40 after a couple months. Had to eat salt in the morning to deal with the lightheaded blues. Then I saw a video like this one and read a couple more books on paleo and keto. I found out what that I needed to add good salt to bulletproof coffee or tea every morning. Now I set my blood pressure at what I want it to be. And I sleep through the night more with less bathroom trips and less calf/foot cramps. Thank you.
Yo zen, it'a been two years since your post here. Are you still alive? Seriously, you started 80/40, what the hell, that's crazy low. I'm having a hard time believing those numbers. Hope you're still with us!
Before going on Keto I had so many maladies I couldn't believe I wasn't already dead. One treatment I was going in for at least every other month was a Phlebotomy. They literally bled a unit of blood out of me in an effort to thin my blood. If you have ever given blood you know it should flow pretty steadily and not take all that long to fill the receptacle bag. Mine literally flowed like maple syrup. After being on Keto for about 3 months my doctor stopped the treatments taking a "lets see how this looks next time" approach. It has been almost 2 years since I have had to undergo a phlebotomy and my blood pressure is where it was when I was in my 20s (I am 50 now). Sadly a different doctor convinced me of the quick fix method of treatment rather than even considering nutrition before I heard of the Keto diet and nuked my thyroid so I will be on synthroid the rest of my life. But other than that I have pretty much reversed all other health issues I had.
That's a great story and a tragic one with respect to your thyroid. Sorry to hear about that. Would you share what other maladies may have been helped by keto?
@@rickyb8636 I had fatty liver, was pre diabetic, was diagnosed with gout, was diagnosed with polycythemia vera (also part of why I was being bled and which hasn't even been mentioned by doc in over a year), High BP, Hypertension, Was on statins for high cholesterol, chronic joint pains, and been a migraine sufferer since childhood (not completely gone but MUCH better).
@@mitch5077 Cod liver oil, vitamin a, d, e and k2 more than took care of that for me. k1 keeps blood from thinning too much. k2 keeps it from too thick. Mine was like sludge trying to fill test tubes for lab work before I started paleo and switched to keto. Good gut bacteria make all types vitamin k when they work. It's a cheap supplement. My cramps disappeared after adding k2 to my stack.
Four months on Keto has dropped my blood pressure numbers by at least 20 Points. Started at about 130/90 down to 110/70. Also dropped 30 pounds. Thanks Dr. Berry for all of the excellent content. You are a wealth of good information.
Thank you! I couldn’t wait to tell my story. I’m 57 had sugar running 433 every day for over a year. Doctor put me on metformin januvia simvastatin lisinopril. My A1 C was 11.5 ... I was so sick had chronic kidney pain daily. I started keto 3 months ago my A1 C is now 8 I’ve lost 13 pounds I feel awesome! I have never taken any of this meds and never will! Thank you Dr. Berry... you have been so inspiring ♥️
I was put on 3 blood pressure medications for my AFIB. My blood pressure would never get below 130/85-90 on these meds. I have been following DR Berry's advice with my very low carb diet and intermittent fasting. My blood pressure is now sitting at 120/78 with one less blood pressure med. Im hoping as time goes on that I will stop another med if not both in the future!!! I need to lose a lot more weight and I am doing just that!!! Thank you Dr Berry for helping us!!!! You are a awesome man!!!
When I started Keto last July 2019 I was on BP Meds and diabetic Meds, no insulin. Today Jan. 2020, I'm mostly Carnivore (I feel so much better). My fuel plan: two meals a day and two dill pickles+a few swigs of pickle juice+unlimited keto coffee I am off all medications, dropped 40 lbs, sleep better than I have in years and reversed my fatty liver. Zero sugar cravings or energy dips. Yeah, I'm beyond thrilled and have become an research consumer thanks to your guidance. All labs excellent! Thank you, thank you, thank you
I had been on increasing doses of Enalapril/HCTZ for almost 20 years (since I was 21) and had my BP "almost" controlled. I started keto about three years ago, and after six months (and 25Kg less), my doctor told me to lower the medication as my BP was so low I would feel lightheaded if I stood up too fast (something that had never happened to me before). Three months later, he told me to quit the meds completely, but keep checking my BP regularly. It hasn't gone over 125/80 since then.
I have been strict carnivore since February 2, 2020. When I started I was on 3 bp meds, clonadine, amlodapine, and lasciniprel. Within 3 months of starting carnivore I had weaned myself off all three meds. My BP averages 130/70. I manages my BP with 500mg to 700mg of B3 taken in 3 to 4 hour intervals throughout the day and 25mg of hemp oil, 100mg of L-theanine, and 1200mg of magnesium taken about 2 hours before bedtime. I also stay well hydrated and walk at least a mile every day in addition to normal activity. All of these contribute to maintaining a normal bp. I will be 80 years old in December. I have healed from many health issues since going zero carb. I do not take any prescription medications.
My last trip to the doctors my BP was better than it has been in years. I never told the doc that I stopped taking my meds. when I asked about my BP he said it was good and I should keep what I was doing.
Blood pressure before I started keto was 165/110. I went keto in August 2018, by November 2018 blood pressure was 145/90. From November 2018 all through 2019 I was mostly carnivore. Blood pressure fell to 132/80. From 1 January 2020 I did strict meat + water only. While watching this video, checked blood pressure. 121/80.
As I watch this this morning my BP readings are 177/91 before meds.. I am on 4 BP meds that they just keep increasing along with a statin and blood thinner. This is not how I planned to live so today will be a major change in my life. I will check back in in a few weeks and see how my progress is going.
Hey Dr. Ken: I have hypertension. I follow the low carb diet (50g of carbs or so per day) and eat twice a day (lunch-dinner) and my BP has dropped 17 points after 3 months and 25lbs of weight loss. I'm hoping to get off my BP medicine when I see my family doctor next month.
If I were you, I would not listen to my family doctor because they usually don't know what they are talking about. They are too quick to treat the symptoms and not the cause. They are still living in the past and think that a healthy diet is whole grain, legumes and crap like that. They think that a high carb, low fat diet is healthy. That is so ignorant it drives me crazy.
Thanks for our help Doc .Two years ago I started meat and eggs only ! My b/b dropped in two weeks! I had yo stop my mads .I have been cheating 😊! B/p back up 😮! Well i know whst to do , just in time for Holidays 😂! Merry Christmas Doc and to all of You❤
I was on two blood pressure meds and two weeks of Keto and normal pressure. Been a year and a half and still normal numbers. Sometimes a little tiny bit low😍 Love you and Neisha doc. I’ve learned so much and I’m no longer afraid to question my doctor about his recommendations 🤩
This diet will help you control Hypertension: bit.ly/KETO101
You can do it with no veggies or vary few correct?
i switched to keto and my blood pressure went up ten points on both numbers. it scared me. is that even normal? i have heard the diet was good for blood pressure and nothing about it doing this. i finally gave it up when i got out of the bathtub and my blood pressure was so high i could hear my heart beat in my head and i had to lay down for a bit since i felt like i was going to stroke out.
Ann-Marie Y5 Congratulations. You are tracking well & will enjoy the achievement of your goals.
Inspiring!
Great results. Congrats!
Here is what I experienced:
1 week - some weight loss
2 weeks - more weight loss
- less cravings
- less snacking
3 weeks - significantly reduced blood pressure so with my doctor's guidance, I reduced my medication
- reduced appetite
- reduced fatigue and I didn't need a midday power nap
4 weeks - no more joint pain which I took as being normal for my age but now it's gone
- eliminated back pain
- blood pressure normal so I discontinued all my BP meds
- weight loss continues
5 weeks - appetite is reduced so I only eat one to two small meals a day and I'm not hungry
- these weird skin tags are literally falling of my body
- I wake up feeling much more rested and it seems I'm refreshed with less sleep.

Love it!!!

@@LateafaNichelle sorry for the late reply. No special hint, we just need to pass the adaptation period for our body to use our own body fat as fuel. Drinking green tea will help enhance your metabolic rate.
My dad had high blood pressure issues and I knew mine was creeping up as I got older, but I turned a blind eye to it
12/16/19 I bought a bluetooth blood pressure cuff and it said my blood pressure was 177/127, not stage 1, not stage 2,
but hypertensive crisis. scared the crap out of me
12/19/19 I began watching your videos and watched all of the ones on keto and began keto that day
Just like you said, weight loss was rapid at the start. For me, 5 lbs in the first 3 days. This is the most painless
diet I've been on. I'm satiated for a long period of time and eating a big plate of bacon, eggs and kale or asparagus
seasoned with salt is not torture by any means, nor was the almost 12oz ribeye I grilled for dinner tonight.
I don't have those horrible hunger pains from other diets.
My blood pressure was coming down slowly, but seemed to plateau
1/2/20 I heard you say that intermittent fasting combined with keto increased weight loss and encouraged autophagy
I liked the sound of that and was still scared by my BP, so I gave it a try. Immediately starting the 6 hour feeding window.
Today, about a month and a half later, 1/31/20, I've lost 25 lbs, gained muscle from the long walks (from 2.2 miles to now 8.7 miles
when I have the time. My energy and endurance now exceed my patience for walking, so I think I'll begin running soon.)
I suggest you take cardio lightly until about 6 weeks in. I helped someone move 2 weeks in and overdid it with my newfound
energy. My cardiovascular system hadn't adjusted yet, and my heart began to race during very heavy lifting. I run uphill on my walks
now and am not out of breath anymore let alone gasping like I used to.
My skin is tightening as I'm losing weight, which I believe is the autophagy you spoke of.
I'm going to get my body fat percentage tested to find out how much more I need to lose, but I think it's probably another
22lbs and I know I'll reach it this time and be able to stay healthy.
TIA.
Well done! Keep it up & stay blessed
Try upping your potassium some and see if your BP drops the rest of the way.
My hypertension was due to my high hba1c. Keto helped me. From as high as 190 / 110 now it's 140/90.
So even before watching this video, I found out I was well within Stroke levels with my blood pressure. At the age of 37! I was also 265 lbs (according to my scale.) Between intermittent fasting (16 to 20 hours without food), changing my diet to be more Keto-like (I did not make it a goal to adhere to it strictly but I have been naturally leaning that way with diet changes), and just doing 5k steps even just every few days (it was harder to do it daily in the winter), and taking only 20mg of Lisinopril, I have lost just over 37lbs between December and today (March 30th.)
Where once I could barely stand up without feeling excruciating pain in my feet, muscle spasms, fatigue, and couldn't even sleep in a bed (I had to sleep in a hammock), now I can do fast-paced walking (practically a jog) for up to 8 minutes and still feel great.
May I know how long it last 😅
I used to have really low blood pressure. About 110/83. I am 62 now and my blood pressure slowly went up to 142/89. Because of another one of your videos I decided to try carnavore for 30 days. I was shocked after 30 days and my blood pressure is 98/63. I also lost 18 pounds. Thank you Dr Berry.

Sorry mine is still to high BP 😢

In 2016 I had a heart attack and quadruple heart bypass. My bp was 170/x without meds, but with meds 140/x. A month after my bypass I started doing keto against my doctor's advice. Two months after that I started doing intermittent fasting, and then extended fasts too. I came off all bp meds (I had been taking 3 meds daily). I got down to where my normal bp was about 105/60 or so. Low carb is a miracle, and combined it with fasting is the key to great health. I'm 67 and a retired physician. Once you beat the cravings and sugar addiction after about three weeks, and fall off the wagon a couple of times, you may become fanatical and realize that the Krispy Kreme doughnut you thought you loved isn't worth it-says I who

This is so amazing to hear!!!!
But was it keto or the weight loss and exercise that gave you good readings now?
So idk.
So how are you on this day of February 22. 2023? Is you Bp still good? Are you still on keto and off meds ? How all is well.

@@navazshahrukhkatpitia1951 I suppose you can't put everyone under the same category, I'm also a bit big (muscle and fat) and tall and I always think it's normal for me plus I'm not very active. I started this at the start of 2019 because my Dr. wanted to put me on medications for BP and cholesterol. I wanted to get my numbers down with out the meds. I found Keto, and 1 year later, the results speak for themselves. Blood Pressure:
Dec 2018: 120/92 - Dec 2019: 110/70 All my markers were down, and I feel better at 46, than I did at 36. My favorite stat is my Triglyceride levels: Triglyceride: Dec 2018: 394 mg/dL - Dec 2019: 86 mg/dL
Congrats. The triglycerides improvement is a life saver.
Berry!
I am on 2 plus a water pill, just stopped 1 of the meds today ♥️

Have been following Dr.

Dr Berry says 140/90 or under is okay. So it's hard to know what to believe!
I went to the hospital with a "hypertensive crisis." I spent months trying to manage it and lose weight, but failed. Two years later, I was diagnosed with type two diabetes. I pretty much decided the drugs I was taking accelerated my metabolic issues. I was taking the following:
81mg aspirin
Carvedilol 2x daily
Hydralazine 3x daily
Allopurinol
HCTZ
Lisinopril
I reversed diabetes with keto and fasting.

Fantastic...good for you!

K how are you doing 3 years later?!

How did it go for you?
this is so awesome! i wish you continued success.
I'm glad you got to know about it, even if I took a long time to.
How's your blood pressure doing nowadays?
For three years I was recommended by my physician to follow the DASH diet and low fat diet. Fast forward a year ago going to the ER with pancreatitis and gal sludge; a cholecystectomy later and now prescribed potassium and hclthyozide😒 and still told to follow a low sodium low fat diet if I wanna control liver issues and hbp.
I should find a new physician.
Intermittent Fasting, along with Carnivorous/Healthy keto/ kosher eating is the way to go for me.
Always enjoy your videos Dr. thank you.
It’s good to see a doctor that actually cares and isn’t just pushing medication

Thank you!

She suggested the DASH diet. I told her I follow you and she pulled up your website and is going to follow your channel to learn. I left with no scripts!!! My Cholesterol was high as normal but she calculated and found I am in a great range after all! Thank you Dr. Berry!

Four months on Keto has dropped my blood pressure numbers by at least 20 Points. Started at about 130/90 down to 110/70. Also dropped 30 pounds. Thanks Dr. Berry for all of the excellent content. You are a wealth of good information.

Congratulations 🎉🎈 What a great accomplishment!
Wow James, that's great!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you
Wow. That is absolutely inspiring. Congrats!
Im 70. My doctor is in his 60s. He had a heart attack and prescribed statins and lisinopril for me. Im going to follow your advise.
Been on keto diet for 9 months. BP is 100/ 60. Not bad for an inactive person with ALS. Feeling good
I had been on increasing doses of Enalapril/HCTZ for almost 20 years (since I was 21) and had my BP "almost" controlled.
It hasn't gone over 125/80 since then.
in oct of 2018 i was 240lbs went on keto know iam 170lbs was on 1000mg metform for type2 know none was taking 2 b/p meds know 1 changed my life
I have been strict carnivore since February 2, 2020.
I'm 37 and I got put on two meds for blood pressure its 173/110 and when relax 154/99, I'm excited to start the diet next week.
🤞🏼
Well, had a renal Doppler test yesterday and can know add 60% blockage in both renal arteries. The news just keeps getting better and better.
Yeh me too. Doing low carb not keto as yet. My bp now 118/78 from 145/90 in just 3 weeks.
You need to reduce your net carbs to 20 grams or less
If I were you, I would not listen to my family doctor because they usually don't know what they are talking about. They are too quick to treat the symptoms and not the cause. They are still living in the past and think that a healthy diet is whole grain, legumes and crap like that. They think that a high carb, low fat diet is healthy. That is so ignorant it drives me crazy.
@@patrickh709 Too low and not sustainable...not even close.
If it is not sustainable, then = failure
Yes! it does lower my Blood Pressure and A1c
