    I remember many times that I had fun with this game on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. I wish that they had two player cooperative mode as well as various upgrades to the weaponry and different shot and missile patterns, though, not to mention more bosses and stages, though. :( I would also like to see a new steampunk inspired helicopter to be placed as an intermediary vehicle between the dirigible and the airplane in this expanded remake of the game.

    It took a few weeks of replaying the last level over and over but I finally managed to finish it on the Difficult setting with no bombs or deaths. I used a lot of pause buffering. Thank god the game saved after each level.

    I just finished watching all the way through...two noticeable things were very different. The Stage 6 first boss was converted to just a miniboss, and the stage 6 boss was a complete pushover.
    And I was seriously about to rage at the final boss, until it got destroyed and the old familiar final boss showed up...and is it just me, or does the fireball phase of the final boss (the phase before the flame walls) seem a lot easier than than old version? I remember them being so fast that I'd end up panic bombing through that phase.

      I agree. I looks like they nerfed the final boss real hard. I remember taking him down in the genesis version was very satisfying.

    Silverhead is a reference for a UK empire and Mothorhead is germany empire. But the maps remenber the mediterram sea

      No. It was never referenced or mentioned, not in this version nor in the Japanese manual for the original.

    I like that graphics look like a 90's Capcom arcade game (IE: Willow arcade or UN Squadron), but what is up with the music, sounds a bit too synth and not Chip tune. The Chip tune SEGA Genesis version I think sounded better. 32:40 is a good example, that track on the SEGA version of STAGE 5-2 was my fav. Hard to believe after all these years the SEGA version holds up. Good upload BTW

      +stringanime I just finished replaying the Sega version before I watched this and I have to agree with you, the music just doesn't sound as good! also I dont like the bosses that they redesigned, they look a bit derp to me. But the graphics looked really good, it actually reminds me of Metal Slug a bit.

      FYI, the sprites in this game are completely recycled from it's GBA remake, with some minor re-colour palleting. Also the boss attack patterns are reused as well, so yeah.

    @Choaseclipse Yes the fireball phase is easier then the Mega Drive/Genesis version and they are very hard to maneuver around them
    Watch the whole video and very impressed with the player (kudos to Rythmyland) and the game.

    Did they deliberately mangle the soundtrack???

    • @alwaysxnever
      @alwaysxnever 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sigh. Not just me that thought that. This is the difference in Nintendo and Genesis. Even in 2014 it doesn't compare to what they did with the Genesis soundchips in 92.

    I'm still trying to kill that final boss on difficult with no bombs and without getting shot down.

    • @davianjanvierto4679
      @davianjanvierto4679 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The true final boss may hard to be terminated, because the airplane consists a very thick steel layers and very thick steel armor, a gas filled with fire, cannnons, missile launcher, and a flamethrower. And that is why the boss is hard to terminate it.

    The achievement Complete Difficult mode is INSANE!! I cleared Difficult mode without bombs, but the achievement wasn't complete.The achievement said Clear Difficult without bombs or being shot down.Does this mean the achievement has to do with beating difficult without dying and using bombs?! HELP!!

    Oh wow, this looks much better than the old Game Boy Advance and Genesis versions. Best of all, they took out all the flickering in the filmstrip scenes! Good grief, those were horrid. I understand they were going for a theme, but it's hard to appreciate it when you're in the grips of a seizure.

      Stedman75 Not heavy like the Genesis version at all. I used to love turning the bass up during the boss theme to make my room shake. Those percussions were insane.

      God the original genesis soundtrack is a reason why I loved the game so much!this soundtrack just plain sucks.

  • @EddyBMultimedia
    @EddyBMultimedia 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Music sounds like crap. The Sega version is much better than this. Since when can you shoot the missiles and destroy them. Kids these days suck at games. Everyone is used to "press x to win". That cave rush was just terrible. They took this game and made it ultra easy. Even the hit detection is way off. I am seeing him get hit and its not even registering. Lame.

    • @chaoseclipse0121
      @chaoseclipse0121 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +K Viper I can explain a couple of the things going on you had complaints about.
      1. The missiles: In the original game, there were two enemy missile types, a dumbfire and a homing. The dumbfire types were unshootable, but the homing missiles were shootable.
      2. Hits not being registered: Back in the day, they didn't have the processor resources to be able to render hit boxes and sprites separately, so the sprite was the hitbox. As shumps and technology advanced, hit boxes eventually became separate entities, and usually the hitbox became smaller than the player sprite, as well as the hit boxes of bullets became smaller than their sprites. The reason why is it brings in a mechanic called "Bullet Grazing," which grazing bullets either increases score, increases some type of gauge for a game mechanic, or both. The original game was pretty much a precursor to the bullet hell and danmaku genre shumps, so I'm not surprised they included the ability to graze bullets in this remake. Overall, it increases your skill by making you want to scrape every bullet possible for the maximum score potential.
      Music is horrible compared to the original Genesis/MD version, won't disagree with you on that one.

    • @retrosoul8770
      @retrosoul8770 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes there were 2 missile types in the original, one capable of being shot down and the other couldn't. But in this nerfed remake you can shoot down the type that you couldn't destroy on the Gen/MD. The boss at 11:40 and other examples display this.
      They couldn't leave it alone, even on "very hard", what a joke.
      Also it seems hearts completely restore your health instead of only partially. The original already wasn't that difficult of a shooter for it's time, and they went and made it even easier...kids should play U.N. Squadron, they'd give them a kick lol.
