you'll be amazed how many jeans are still out there. I found 2 jeans from 1899 1902ish on a small mine on my ranch in TX. the rest of my find were canvas overalls and shirts. I made a glass mural of my finds.
Imagine... People are pulling old jeans out of a mine that pays more than the minerals that were collected from the mine at the time.... Imagine (again) if one those miners back then could see the future, the crew hits a payload, and then says "Ha! this aint nothin! 'Bout a hunderd years from now some poor ol fool is gonna find my britches and make off more than us!"
Not sure how things were done that deep in the ground, but, I am thinking they were just worn out cloths being used for torch wicks. They showed some burned cloth they found. I worked for years in a small worn out sawmill that was at about 7,000 ft. elev. We used torches to thaw frozen air lines and conveyors. Denim was the best fabric for a wick. Wrap a 2x2 with it, wire it tight and soak it in a bucket of diesel and it was good to go. Maybe they used it for light or to burn out scorpions and snakes and such

@Charles charlie charles I smell a fraud case coming in a few years from the buyers of those jeans. Real story Alan left some dirty counterfeit jeans down there to be found.
I was digging around once on Skyline Circle just outside of Tombstone AZ, and I found an old Laudnum bottle. It still had the cork in it. I found it about 13 inches in the ground. I was showing it around to some tourist, and they told me that I have to turn that in to the Tombstone Vistor Center, and it was unlawful for me to keep it as it was found within city limits. I told them to get bent. They took down my License plate number, who cares. I still have the bottle and I'm not turning it in.
Ive seen a history show on how someone found a pair a jeans in a abandoned shed in moutians.. They guy washed them in wash machine then called Levi.. first thing they said was dont wash them. They had some crazy way of washing. went all into the process.. THis guy should of got a good portion of the profit.. Yet the greedy only gets greedier given the opportunity.
That's a awesome find, like you said they are probably worth more than gold per weight. I thought the rule was split it 50% if you do 100% of the work and they own 100% of the land..lol. That's an awesome story though.
Forget the jeans, what the hell is up with that shaft? Looks like they were digging a really, really deep latrine. Frank, I think you might have mined national advertising gold, if he sells the jeans and makes the national news. Ask him to mention your channel, if the press interviews him.
A good friend and I went to the Castle Dome Mine Museum and the mine tour just this last month. We really enjoyed it. A pair of those old Levi's is on display in the museum which is within the old reconstructed town of Castle Dome City, est. 1864. If you love old west history, the visit is well worth your time. Lots of very cool artifacts, and they are the real deal, no amusement park here. Just don't go when its too hot or too rainy!
Time reverses that though. Even if quantity is still "high" (relatively speaking) the older it gets the more value it has. So you should take your pants off right now and bury them in the backyard so your great-great great grand kids can have a free ride to college lol.
WRONG ! ! .....NO N95 mask will protect you from an oxygen deficient atmosphere....been doing confined space entries for 20+ years....gas detector was his best friend in there.
The oldest pair of Levi’s found was in Nevada. The Levi company documented them as being one of the first four that were originally made. They tried to purchase them from the guy that found them, but he refused to sell. This was back in about 1982.
I will never forget the story about how the minors who were buying tents were complaining about wearing out their pants. They asked the seller to make jeans from the tent material and boom jeans were born. At auction those jeans would bring hundreds of thousands no wonder he never put them in the museum.

@@exploringabandonedmines Amazing these mines, will be doing the same next weekend. Thanks
I'm a bit pissed off that the owner didn't let you keep at least one pair of jeans.
Right! greedy
It's about the history. He probably isn't going to sell them either. The people that do this stuff do it because they want to preserve history.
@@slightly_handy2109 Thats not the point here. Like If you found $150,000 ricking your life for me finding this treasure just by principle alone Is deserving of something/cut! No?
@@Theprezzzident He probably pays them something. Generally, you have a little bit of cash if you own a ghost town.
I'm with you. Ignorant
The fact you go through reading and replying to comments is so unappreciated and uncommon
There are some interesting ones!
This is fascinating. Such an awesome video. Just subscribed.
Finds 100k plus worth of jeans gets nothing but the satisfaction of finding them somehow that sounds kind of weird to me
and great content
Whoa that shot of him going down between the two rock walls got me sick.
Did some caving years ago Before my body told me to quit. Those rock walls are to tight for me! Hats off to these guys! Awesome and much respect!
I had a dry nose watching this , fareplay hell of a climb back up, gratitude for these great videos of your adventures
Our pleasure!
That must be incredible not only to find but touch American history thanks for sharing your finds
"What are you mining down there?"
"Pants"
Never tell the truth when you've struck pure gold
Thankyou for sharing your visit.
Thank you too
I love how he searches the pockets. You know if he finds anything of value in them, Alan won’t be knowing about it.
20:25
The younger guy is like: “there’s another pair here..”, the older guy is thinking “shut up, we nearly got away with those ones.”
Some guy 1880: Damn I sharted my pants, better change before my coworkers realize.
These Dudes 140 years later: Omg we're rich
They were work pants that workers put on after they got down there and took off once they were ready to leave.
@@blainwilson7937 I only wear pants when I’m working too, and even then only when it’s absolutely necessary. Makes sense to me.
@@blainwilson7937 ummmmm he knows that, it was a joke.
All of them voted for Joe Biden.
Thank you for bringing us along. Really enjoy your videos.
Thanks for watching!
you'll be amazed how many jeans are still out there.
LMFAO 😂 thank you.
no the worth of a mine is a lot more than the jeans
Probs shit him self down there and took them off.
I've worn and still wear levis since 1970 wearing a pair as I watched your video brilliant 😎👍
Maybe they used it for light or to burn out scorpions and snakes and such
Hey people ,when you give your word it's in stone.
That is a measure of a MAN.
For real. People now a days are shocked when you actually show up... I told my friend I'd be over to fix his car at 5. I showed up and he wad sleeping in his undies.. said oh I didn't think you were serious... wtf. What happened to real people?
Backed my truck into a vw gti, 530 in the morning one time, left a note on the window, went to work and the guy called and told me not to worry, he just said he was glad that he found a honest person in the world. Circ. 2013
I think that Robert Service put it best in his poem The Cremation of Dan McGee "Now a promise made is a debt unpaid"
@@HaventHerd307 I ran over a guys mail box and left a not on his front door also offered to pay for it he said the same. I think people are shocked when you tell them when ya FK up.
All them folks loosing their pants lol
A man that's good for his word..that's a rare thing in this world.
Congratulations, a once in a lifetime find.. I was getting claustrophobic just watching the decent down that shaft. Are there going to be more videos of the exploration of this mine?
Yes continued next week....
Cracked me up! the guys saying there's only like 4 pairs of these in the world and then he THROWS them on the ground...
Blessed be the youtube algorithm. Works in mysterious ways but never disappoints.
Sometimes it disappoints!
I seen that Levi's bought a 100+ year old jeans found in the desert for like $100,000!
$ 86,000 Actually!
Lol. Good for u.
Shouldnt have showed it to anybody...
@@olebilly yep
Those jerks! Should have hit them over the head with YOUR bottle.
@@juliahadley4977 Didnt want to break it. Just found out its worth about $85.00
This was fun to watch! Be safe!
I would love to see what they looked like cleaned up and how they went about cleaning them up.
@@thatsmyrc Ehhh well I know nothing about it but I would NOT have thrown them in a washing machine. Just common sense really.
That's a awesome find, like you said they are probably worth more than gold per weight. I thought the rule was split it 50% if you do 100% of the work and they own 100% of the land..lol. That's an awesome story though.
Oh my claustrophobia! !! Lol! I still managed to watch. How exciting! Best of luck to you guys!
the person under the rocks getting his pants taken off like 👁👄👁
Lmaoooo
What are you doing step miner
You should of traded him the jeans for lifetime supply of beer
Frank is pretty good at drinking beer. That might be a bad deal 😸
@@evanscreekbrahman7511 ...😜😂😂🍻🇺🇸
Or at the very least a decent respirator
I'm gonna binge watch all your videos for the next couple days, Subscribed!!!!!!
Forget the jeans, what the hell is up with that shaft? Looks like they were digging a really, really deep latrine.
Frank, I think you might have mined national advertising gold, if he sells the jeans and makes the national news. Ask him to mention your channel, if the press interviews him.
In an old mine that probably has produced more money in jeans than it ever did in gold, silver, or other valuable.
Silver and Lead.
I'd love to see these jeans all cleaned up. What a great peace of history!
I got freaked out just watching him descend
I was literally having an anxiety attack
Me to and the way they left the rope to scrape across the wood and no back up rope. ouch
You know I'm glad that they made the entrance to the mine easy to get into.
Just think about the guys down there digging every day with oil headlamps trying to earn a living to feed their families
Carbide lamps
Well they had their pants off so they couldn’t have been having that bad of a time
They should have used their white privilege
Yeah wasn’t oil lamps they were carbide lights check out a vid about carbide lights basically a bomb on your head lol 😂
The thing about historical artifacts is that the more that are found, the less each one becomes worth.
Time reverses that though. Even if quantity is still "high" (relatively speaking) the older it gets the more value it has. So you should take your pants off right now and bury them in the backyard so your great-great great grand kids can have a free ride to college lol.
@@CriticoolHit The main reason alot of old items are valuable is because stuff back then was very well made. Aside from it being really old.
Brilliant Fantastic Video All The Best Of Health To You All.
The most valuable thing in that mine is the N95 mask he’s wearing lol 😝
@Adam Leviathan $500,000 doesn't mean a lot someone who can't breathe
Erik thats what I’m saying. Thats a case for bronchitis or sum.
That's a P95
Your talking about the price surge after covid right?
WRONG ! ! .....NO N95 mask will protect you from an oxygen deficient atmosphere....been doing confined space entries for 20+ years....gas detector was his best friend in there.
The oldest pair of Levi’s found was in Nevada. The Levi company documented them as being one of the first four that were originally made. They tried to purchase them from the guy that found them, but he refused to sell. This was back in about 1982.
damn, what an ass
Love to see what they look like cleaned up n restored
Makes you wonder what those miners were doing with their pants off. Owner should have given you a couple of pair - you risked your life to get them.
possibly changing out in to fresher pair
Yeah, that's the worst deal anybody could strike. Mine owner was laughing all the way to the bank.
No he didn't, he risked his life for fun.
I wish I still had my worn out Levi's from the 70's and 80's.
I’m more excited watching these guys find those jeans than they are!! Man I wished I could crawl in there
Can't imagine digging a hole like that, you couldn't get me down there.
I will never forget the story about how the minors who were buying tents were complaining about wearing out their pants. They asked the seller to make jeans from the tent material and boom jeans were born.
At auction those jeans would bring hundreds of thousands no wonder he never put them in the museum.
That is definitely a safe and standard knot for dynamic rope. 11/10, would trust leap.
I never use dynamic rope.
@@exploringabandonedmines Phew! it looked like dynamic but who can tell through the screen really right? Cool episode. Sorry that guy was a dick to you in the long run.

how did they dig straight down like that in such a tight space ? wtf ! seriously imagine going into your back yard and digging straight down in ROCK for 500 feet ! subbed
If you have a hoist going down you need to dig straight down.
@@exploringabandonedmines I understand that.. just saying .. imagine saying to yourself and a buddy, "Hey lets get a pick axe and a rope and start digging straight down into the earth !" i love this channel because it shows the crazy stuff people did 100 years ago !
