WVU Energy Express on WVPB-TV: Episode 404

We're kicking off today's episode with a trip to the lake! We're hanging out with our friends Mike and Bruce again, but this time, we're learning more about water safety, which is a very important summer topic. Grab your life jackets and let's go!
After our cruise in the canoe, it's time to head into the lab to learn how to engineer a bird beak with Emma Gardner, STEM specialist at WVU Jackson's Mill. Using the engineer design process, we'll test five different "beak" tools and five food sources. For this activity, you'll need tools such as tongs, chopsticks, a small spoon, a pipette or tweezers, but you can also test other tools. You'll also need items that represent food sources, like rice, popcorn kernels, pipe cleaners, pompoms or water.
