You made me feel so much better. I was so worried 😟. I’ve been in recruiting for about 3 yrs, but I know nothing about tech lol. I just got hired at an agency as a tech recruiter. I was worried that I would not be successful.

You don't really NEED to know tech - that's the irony of this entire profession. You just need to know enough to talk about it.

Shoutouts to all my new recruiters out there. You can do it! I went from a brand new start to working for two super good SF bay area tech startups with my soft skills. You can do it!

I have an interview for an entry-level technical recruiter for TekSystems next week. I have no experience in recruiting but I do have an understanding of how recruiting works. Wish me luck!

@@Jeep375 good luck! I was in the same boat I had no experience and leveraged my soft skills (I was a high school teacher and had done sales in the past) to get the position.
It's VERY hard in this market but I'm in a super supportive culture and love it.

@@a_drunk_carry371 thank you so much my friend. I have been on tons of interviews. I get to my 2nd interviews and I fall off usually because of people having experience and whatnot. Do you have any tips on what I should say if they were to ask me if I have any sales experience? I used to work for Chipotle, Chick-fil-a, Amazon, and now the hospital as a clinical technician. I’m trying to transition to recruiting because of how hard-working I am and I’ve always had a knack for establishing relationships and developing them.

@@Jeep375 I would play up specifics of what you've done at those places. Like sales initiatives you've worked on, professional development, successes, etc.
I never did textbook "recruiting" prior to my new job but I have a degree in education and was a teacher for 2 years. So I talked about my people skills, the unconventional recruiting I did every year as a high school band director (sourcing the smartest kids from middle school even if they had no band experience, visiting the elementary schools, etc) and showed them how driven I'd be.
You meet all walks of life in recruiting. One of my bosses ran 3 PF Changs. We have TONS of former teachers. One person was even a supervisor at Target, haha.

This is perfect. I’m looking to make the jump into tech recruiting. I’m already a recruiter for a staffing agency but we really don’t have many tech roles. Mainly clerical/industrial. But honestly this was so helpful just to hear that I’m already halfway there if not more.

Hiya! I've been watching all your videos, I've been interviewing for Tech Roles and they seem to be super heavy on asking about Boolean Searches, especially for roles at Amazon. I think I understand the basics of Boolean searches, but the interviewers always seem to not like my answers. Is there a "right" answer?
