  • @krane15
    @krane15 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks for that. You're in the Philippines where its nice and hot, and watermelons are a warm weather crop. You didn't talk about fertilizing the plant though. Also, pollination which has to be through so your fruit will be nice and round. I pluck off any fruit that is misshaped. Last year I grew some tomatoes and peppers on my balcony, but there isn't enough full sun for watermelons. this year I'm gong to add a grow light and see if that will work. To your credit you did well especially since watermelons are one of the most difficult crops to grow.

I'm also in TX in an apt and growing watermelon in containers too and didn't think about the large plastic pail like the ones you used. There's a small forest of bamboo growing off the side of a golf course a block from me so I get plenty of bamboo for stakes. • @IrishChippy
      @IrishChippy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean blossom end rot like on tomatoes? It usually mean you are lacking some micro nutrients like calcium. For the plant affected, there is not much you can do, but you could add calcium now.

    • @IrishChippy

      More than likely the seeds from a watermelon you buy were grown from F1 Hybrid plants. So these seeds from your fruit will be F2. They will probably grow, and may fruit, but will lose some of the characteristics of the F1. Where are you located?
