    You know, I was going to buy the stuff myself a few years back but was too chicken to pull the trigger. Was afraid I wasn't going to find a good use for it. Damn glad I had hesitated ;)

  • @Scaryladyvideos
    @Scaryladyvideos  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It depends on the size of the font. For tiny fonts the engraver is great. For larger fonts the Dremel is nicer to use because it's easier to control the depth and keep it consitant. But, I heard the they sell an accessory that keeps the distance consistant like what I have for the Dremel.

  • @Scaryladyvideos
    @Scaryladyvideos  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It depends on how much you'll use it for. The pro version allows you to turn down or up the heat which is pretty important. I like it very much for carving detailed things or tiny epitaphs. But, they are cheaper alternatives though you will get a different effect (Dremel, wood burning tool, eXacto knives). It's your call.

    Just came across this video and it was perfect timing because I was about to buy a Dremel, after years of doing foam carving by hand, but am now going to purchase the engraver. Thanks for showing us what it can do!

    • @Scaryladyvideos

      Did you get it? How are you liking it?

    • @WG02451
      @WG02451 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did get it and have to say I didn't like it. I ended up getting a Dremel. I only had the regular power source (the cheap one) so I think without having the temp control might have been part of the issue. While the Dremel makes more of a mess, I like the end result better.

    • @Scaryladyvideos
      @Scaryladyvideos  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never used the lighter powered one but I think if you wanted to upgrade the power source - that Engraver still might work with it. I still use my Dremel for many tombstones so I think of the Engraver more as a specialty tool anyway. Plus, I used the Dremel exclusively for years and never missed having a Hot Knife.

    • @WG02451
      @WG02451 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, I didn't want to pay the price for the upgraded power source.
      I don't know why I waited this long to get a Dremel. After hand-carving for all these years, it makes it so much easier even if it does make a mess! :)

    • @Scaryladyvideos
      @Scaryladyvideos  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't know if this particular mask is good for the fumes but it's the one you get from Lowe's (3M 6200). I figure it probably helps though and I find this mask more comfortable to wear then the paper ones. The paper ones fog up my glasses too. I wear this mask for everything.

    Awsome videos as always (Once Again ) lol :) but i just wanted to add that i did use my wood burner just to try it & it does work. it is way faster yes, So that being said if you don't have the time to go out & buy Foam Factorys ingraving tool this will work in a pinch but the down side of it is you caint ajust your heat so once you get the wood burner hot you just have to be carefull you will go way deep in the foam way fast like i did.OOps heh he. Anyway Keep up the awsome work. we Love ya

One was "loose" so every time you touch it all the little beads fall off and are all over the house. Then tried the "harder" one but that one is more like plastic and melts immediately. I'm going to go to the store tonight and find the extruded foam and attempt that. Thank you so much for the guidance!
