    I do this with all my double sided tape canvases. When removing the tape I suggest scoring it with an xacto or craft knife and removing it in 1-2 inch strips. It's so much easier and faster this way. I also do 3 layers on each canvas. I love it!!!!

    I’ve never used Dot Stick on a canvas, but I did use it on a wooden letter that I wanted to drill on and gifted to my daughter. The adhesive did very well on the wood and I was able to diamond paint the letter like I would a canvas. That was a couple months ago, and as far as I know, the drills haven’t fallen off yet.

    I'm so glad I found this! I know it's a year old, but I've been struggling to want to even do my double sided tape kits because even before I fully open them I've seen the tape coming up. The tape just gives me so much anxiety so I'm going to try this ASAP!!

    I used Aleene's 29-2 Tack-It Over & Over Liquid Glue product and used parchment paper on sections. I lifted and reused and lifted the paper repeatedly with no problems, whatsoever. I also did not cover it to a depth of 3mm. One thick coat was enough. I had to do a 8”x20” piece of canvas as half of the art was not poured enough. As this is self leveling, please flatten the canvas as much as possible before the pour. I used cheap China brushes from the Dollar Store (that I have had for a hundred years) to spread about 1/4 what you used in your first pour. It was springier and the drills could move around a little.
    Thank you for introducing me to Waterhouse’s works. That is a favorite of mine now and I ordered a DP canvas. I love your framing. It looks terrific!

    Hi. I recently saw a video by dazzle driller called, How I Fixed a Crappy Canvas. She removed the doubled sided tape and used Krylon Tack- It, which is a spray on repositional adhesive. It also might be a method worth trying.

    Thanks for this video. I successfully changed a dst into poured glue this week. Yay!! I purchased this one when new to diamond painting. Arrived in very poor condition. I received a replacement but it wasn't much better. It wasn't cheap either. So it got out away in a drawer and when I saw this video I thought I would give it a try. I really love the image and havn't seen it anywhere else and didn't want to chuck it out. Wasn't easy getting the dst off but once off, the rest was easy. I ironed it before applying the glue as it was still very crinkly. I used the dd clear cover for the top. Came out perfect. I think I will change all my dst ones left into poured glue.

    What a great idea! A couple of thoughts. I saw a video where the person wanted to get rid of the tape that extends over the edges (rather than cover it with washi). They gently scored the tape along the edge and it peeled off perfectly. What would happen if you took a large section of canvas and scored it, allowing you to remove smaller sections of the tape, one at a time? Would that eliminate the stretching of the canvas that you experienced? Also, if you ironed the canvas either before you removed the tape or after but before you painted on the Dotz Stick, would that make any difference in how evenly the glue would cover/adhere? Not so much with this canvas but with the one that was badly creased? And finally, to avoid stickiness that extends over the edges what would happen if you used painter's tape on the edge so you didn't have to be so precise when painting the glue near the edges?

    • @tinyworldsofwonder
      @tinyworldsofwonder  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Micki Krieger Great thoughts! I think scoring the tape into sections would work great! Leave it to me to cut through the thing, but small sections would definitely be easier to remove. For a badly wrinkled canvas, ironing after you remove the adhesive seems like it would be helpful. And painters tape is a brilliant idea! 😀 Great suggestions!
