Very nice flying I wouldn't actually know because I have not found a suitable plane near me in Boise to purchase. I have a broker working on the problem. I would like to ask some questions. Would you be up to giving your impressions to queries? 1. Are Ercoupes easier to learn to fly than say a Cherokee 140? 2. Are instructors easy to find to instruct someone interested in owning one? 3. How does the FAA treat Ercoupe pilots (new ones)? 4. it like doing maintenance and buying spares for it? Ny son is a brand new A&P. I was too, 40 years ago. I have soloed in a C150 in the late 70's but never go licensed (life).

      1. The ercoupe is definitely an easy and very simple airplane to fly, Cherokees have heavier control force (requiring constant trimming) and can be more difficult to land and more systems to operate typically (flaps, nav, fuel…). I first started my training in a Cherokee than finished in my Ercoupe. I do think it’s good to get a few hours in a Cherokee just to have that experience and perspective.
2- I never had an issue finding a instructor to teach in the Ercoupe, all my instructors had no experience in the ercoupe but had no issue learning the airplane and instructing. Most instructors that teach at flight schools wouldn’t mind freelancing outside of their flight school for you.
3- my ercoupe does have the rudder pedals STC so I have no restrictions on my license, if your is the original 2 axis control and you take the checkride in that airplane than you will have a 2 control limit on your PPL thus you can only fly Ercoupes.
4- the Ercoupe is a simple aircraft to work on, the hardest part id say is working under the instrument panel due to the lack of space.
Univair supplies most parts for the ercoupe and a gentleman named Vernon Gregory has an ercoupe “graveyard” and has almost any part you will ever need for the ercoupe
The ercoupe is a great airplane and would definitely recommend it
