    ....Ercoupes are great for air to air photography.....I shot 16mm film from mine (TV news film)...I'd circle the subject and shoot at 48fps or 64 fps with a Bolex and Vario-Switar lens....Banking steep for wide open panoramic sequences from an open cockpit......Nothing could compare to that, except a helicopter (maybe)....415C....CF-RGD...

    These Ercoupes seem no larger than modern radio control models. Can you fly these small aircraft in other than perfect flying weather conditions? " Toy coffins" Nevertheless, you did a great job restoring it.

    • @av8r1946
      @av8r1946 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Ercoupe is a solid built aircraft. It was built to such a strength that the US army used it to test JATO propulsions, the army mounted 6 rockets to the belly of the Ercoupe in order to achieve a short takeoff and high climb. The Ercoupe can fly in almost all weather, it is capable of flying in such high winds that would keep most other aircraft grounded.

    @lynnkramer1211 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cool. It would sure let other pilots know where you are in the pattern. I would be tempted to write messages in restricted airspace around DC and I'd get grounded by the FAA for that. Question, do you need to clean any residue from the fuselage after using it?

    • @av8r1946
      @av8r1946 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, lol, If I were flying in DC I'd have a three-letter acronym to write... That was my main concern with the polished aluminum however It does not leave any residue or oil as long as you have the valve set properly.

    Why would anyone portray the Ercoupe as a military plane--that's not funny!

    • @av8r1946
      @av8r1946 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The USAAF used the Ercoupe for the first RATO tests, the CAP used Ercoupes to search for German U-boats along the coast, the Alaska national guard used Ercoupes for Officer transport… those are just the published roles of military use. I’m sure your a halfway smart person, therefore, In the future do a little research before making negative comments so you don’t sound so dimwitted.

    Very nice flying I wouldn't actually know because I have not found a suitable plane near me in Boise to purchase. I have a broker working on the problem. I would like to ask some questions. Would you be up to giving your impressions to queries? 1. Are Ercoupes easier to learn to fly than say a Cherokee 140? 2. Are instructors easy to find to instruct someone interested in owning one? 3. How does the FAA treat Ercoupe pilots (new ones)? 4. it like doing maintenance and buying spares for it? Ny son is a brand new A&P. I was too, 40 years ago. I have soloed in a C150 in the late 70's but never go licensed (life).

    • @av8r1946
      @av8r1946 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. The ercoupe is definitely an easy and very simple airplane to fly, Cherokees have heavier control force (requiring constant trimming) and can be more difficult to land and more systems to operate typically (flaps, nav, fuel…). I first started my training in a Cherokee than finished in my Ercoupe. I do think it’s good to get a few hours in a Cherokee just to have that experience and perspective. 2- I never had an issue finding a instructor to teach in the Ercoupe, all my instructors had no experience in the ercoupe but had no issue learning the airplane and instructing. Most instructors that teach at flight schools wouldn’t mind freelancing outside of their flight school for you. 3- my ercoupe does have the rudder pedals STC so I have no restrictions on my license, if your is the original 2 axis control and you take the checkride in that airplane than you will have a 2 control limit on your PPL thus you can only fly Ercoupes. 4- the Ercoupe is a simple aircraft to work on, the hardest part id say is working under the instrument panel due to the lack of space. Univair supplies most parts for the ercoupe and a gentleman named Vernon Gregory has an ercoupe “graveyard” and has almost any part you will ever need for the ercoupe The ercoupe is a great airplane and would definitely recommend it If you have any more questions feel free to respond or you can also email me at llaslo12704@gmail.com

    What's wrong with this picture? I grew up in N2078H, a '46 Ercoupe. That panel looks an awful lot like an Alon instrument panel. A landing light? My dad would have had to tape a flashlight to the strut. Nevertheless I love Ercoupes in any form. I'm jealous and I mean no disrespect.

      @av8r1946 4 ปีที่แล้ว
