  • Explain One Play: the Kuminga - Steph Curry customized Head Tap play
    by @EricApricot
    Analysis of the 2024.02.05.GSW-BRK Brooklyn Nets vs Golden State Warriors game.
    Jonathan Kuminga is slowly becoming a star. We look at another spectacular hovercraft dunk, which is the result of a custom version of the old Warriors play Head Tap. This play began with Kevin Durant and was passed down to Andrew Wiggins. The Warriors now run it for JK, but GSW are emphasizing the second option in order to get Steph Curry setting a ghost screen for a pick and pop with JK.
    Co-starring Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green and Brad Wanamaker(?!). With Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Nic Claxton, Jaren Jackson Jr, Vince Williams Jr, John Konchar and Santi Aldama.

    Eric's videos and specifically the jokes in them have been more entertaining than 90% of the minutes the Warriors have played this season. Much appreciated.

    “Do I smell French cigarettes and nihilism” hilarious.
    Steph really is the Sartre of the NBA. And I’d have a hard time being positive too, if I was held and fouled as often as he with no whistle.

      "held and fouled" is much easier to swallow than worst 2nd option in the NBA, worst 3rd option and worst frontcourt of any playoff team.

  • @Tac0maAr0ma
    @Tac0maAr0ma 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Hey Eric, why do you think Kerr is so reluctant to play TJD when rim protection and rebounding has been one of the teams glaring weaknesses all year long?

    • @jferrante831
      @jferrante831 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      TJD ofen goes for the block instead of just contesting the shot. He might get the block, or alter the shot into a miss, but then he is out of position for the defensive rebound and gives up a put back dunk, or we collapse trying to and it leads to open corner 3s.
      He needs to be better about just going up to contest then grabbing the rebound afterwards. Blocks are great, but if the opponent still scores we don't gain anything out of it.

    • @Tac0maAr0ma
      @Tac0maAr0ma 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jferrante831 totally agree with everything you said I’ve had those exact same thoughts - however, he needs reps if he’s gonna be expected to fix those tendencies and teams like BKN are perfect opportunities for exactly that. He does more positive than negative I think we can both agree on that. There’s just no reason for him to be getting DNPs at this point in the season.

    • @Miriaye
      @Miriaye 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jferrante831 Agree. Sometimes TJD looks raw. It's just a fact. Again, reps can help him lot.

    • @jferrante831
      @jferrante831 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Tac0maAr0ma I agree he needs more reps, it's gonna be hard if Dray is playing the 5 almost exclusively. Looney has been bad this season, as has Saric at the 5, it just seems like Kerr trusts them more.
      Kerr mentioned post Nets game he might try a Dray/TJD front court. That would be interesting to see, but I feel like we are getting to the point where Dray, JK and Steph should pretty much be tied together. That combo has been so good, idk if there are ways to fit TJD into that.
      TJD has been nice with Klay. Maybe a Podz, Klay, Moody/GP2, xxx, TJD bench unit could feast.
      I'm hoping we use CP3s contract to bring in another wing, and possibly another big. Saric is gone after this season, unless they plan to use Gui full time as the backup 4 next season, a big wing that can play 3/4 and stretch the floor would be a needed pickup.
      My hope is we somehow get Claxton and Cam Johnson for CP3, Moody, CoJo and 1 or 2 firsts. That would solve a ton of our issues. And let us sign LQ to the main roster, likely with a similar contract to Gui that is super team friendly.

    • @Miriaye
      @Miriaye 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jferrante831 Yeah, Lester should be on that roster. That guy balls consistently in G league. The moment he left G league the sea dubs started struggling until recently when they figured it out.

    Another entertaining and , of course, informative video. I'm was happy to see a peek at Wiseman in the beginning (was it?). Another guy who was held back but wasn't as tough as JK so he's with the Pistons now, locked in the NBA cellar. Hmm I see so many comments abut the Dubs needing height, they had it but the coach didn't want to use it, just like JK.

    Imagine if Kerr did this 20 games ago. Play Quiones Over Joseph. Give Gui a chance. Klay has to go!

    • @WhatsWongNow
      @WhatsWongNow 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't think Klay has to go. In fact, I hope he will stay. But to do so, he needs to accept a different role on this team -- nothing to be ashamed of for a guy who has fought back from two major injuries and is turning 34 soon. Why not be a spark off the bench? Why not move the ball and let it find you for a good shot (instead of those leaning, off-balance, contested fall-aways)? Why not accept that you can still matter to winning but not in the same way you did when you were in your prime?
      In the best of all possible worlds, Klay becomes a wise elder statesman who cheers on the younger guys and can still bring the fire in doses.
