I messed up the resolution on OBS and clipped out the hull bar :( Restored Intro - • Freelancer - Restored ... Director's Intro - • Freelancer - Director'...
As someone who actually continues to play this game in 2024, I absolutely love it. I can't believe it's making a comeback here on TH-cam. Color me surprised!
Pro tip: when smuggling drugs in this game avoid the tradelanes. You can still use parts of them but avoid the ends near bases, that's where the cops are. Once you get to New York I put on the cruise engines the second I come out of jump gate and aim just to the left of Manhattan. You can use the tradelane if you want but come out of it a fair distance from the planet. Once you get past the tradelane that links Manhattan with Detroit head for the planet surface, skim the atmosphere and make directly for the docking ring. Spam the doc button until it lets you doc. Easy 30k.
I played this on lan with friends and also on a modded on line server. One friend had a huge out of scale event horizon, another friend had a millennium falcon, and I had a shadow vessel that was totally indestructible against any weapons fire. But the cutting beam was great for destroying everything.
sounds like you guys were playing on the Nightstalker Universe mod, I used to fly a Wraith Superhive ship from Stargate on that server, or the Normandy from Mass Effect
Still playing the storyline once a year. always in december between christmas and new year. its a ritual for me, like watching a good old movie. i switched over to the x series a long long time ago, currently playing X4 Foundations. But no Game gives me that kind of atmosphere as Freelancer does.
Its a shame there has been no other space game like this, not bad story, open space to freely move about in, bit of trade / pirate / good guy side quests. All fun
Besides Everspace 1/2 which are amazing, there's Underspace that's in Alpha, I livestreamed it a bit a few days ago and its basically like a modded Freelancer + a few extra things, overall it looks really promising
@@Andromalios Ehh, I've played Everspace 2, it's literally nothing like Freelancer in terms of story. Freelancer is bloody epic, Everspace 2 left me wanting.
This intro is quite different than what I remember. Were there different versions? The one I saw was much shorter, and ended with the 5 colony ships. Then to Freeport 7. The nomads wheren't introduced until much later into the game. And I don't think you saw what destroyed the Port.
I put together the restored intros, basically they wanted to tie together Starlancer and Freelancer(which is why they created the ending for the Coalition being destroyed by the Nomads) the scene where the thief steals the artifact was also not added in the game, but someone managed to recover that intro, the reason might be because the release was rushed(the planned Rheinland content was also cut out of game)
1:53:07 Proof that you are not in 'god mode' -- though both shields and armor dropped to zero many, many times. My two fav. memories of this game are (1) camping inside the giant hollow wreck and watching enemies hunt for me in vain -- took an IRL nap for an hour in there! and (2) finding class-8/9/10 weapon systems on uncharted worlds. Worth a ton of credits, and eventually mounted a few for the final battle, but never got a ship that could mount class-10 weapons. Wish I could have just kept playing after the last mission, or even revisited some of the mission-only stations.
its possible to mod the game so you can get any ship you want while playing the campaign, also the Crossfire mod adds more missions after the last one and you get to go back to Earth/Coalition Systems/Galaxy center and fight alongside the Dom Kavash against a bunch of aliens
@@R0d_1984 yes, in the settings you can adjust difficulty and you wont take damage anymore, but if I remember correctly you still blow up when trying to get into a planet
Basically there's a spiritual successor to Freelancer that released recently called Underspace, I will probably stream it these days once I finish uploading the Freelancer playthrough
its a restored intro sequence that a guy managed to get and upload on TH-cam, unfortunately since the game was rushed out unfinished a lot of the things they wanted to add were scrapped :(
@@Andromalios Oh, OK then. No wonder the extension was scrapped though. It's filled with plotholes! How would the narrator escape a solar destruction event by being on the far side of Pluto as the sole survivor of the Sol system? Also, did he limp all the way to Sirius in that small dinghy? How long would his journey take? Could he beat the Nomads there? Also, if the Nomads are capable of extinguishing the Sun, why do they even bother with ship-to-ship dogfights and blowing up space stations like Freeport 7? I never knew they were that powerful! They are portrayed as a parasitic alien lifeform that slowly takes over governments from within. Shipping the game with that intro would have completely altered our perception of what we were playing.
@@Andromalios wel its true i mean the 1 at 1:31:35 do be prepared there strong so if you try it you mite wane make sure you have better weapons if I remember correctly its a lv 3 turret
@@Andromalios All good friend. I haven't played this gem in a long while, always modded it though and still have very fond memories. Nothing is like Freelancer, nothing.
I wish i did, moved states and ''lost'' them, i used to play it once a year, miss the game alot (the only game that come close is X3, maybe X4 would be similar and less so ED)....
Nostalgia hit me like a freight train

If the same people that make intros and cutscenes actually made movies the world would be a better place!

I'm not sure how I found this video but I think I remember this game. Such strong The Matrix vibes in that opening!
That was so entertaining. Far more for just hearing the sound effects. Thank you. (And, I must say, you are a most excellent shot.)
Thank you so much
I play this every couple of months doing the Crossfire MOD.. This is a fantastic game and is still better than most modern SP games.
the crossfire campaign is so good
This was such a great game. Shame they went down the Star Citizen road instead of a sequel.
a sequel would've been legendary considering the fanbase :(

Wow!, I haven't thought of this game in ages... time to reload and play again... for the 5th time.
And I forgot this game existed too. Thanks for posting.
We NEED more games like this
I still have the long sleeve t-shirt they gave away with this game as a pre-order bonus

I do the same, I play Freelancer and Gothic 2 :))) at least once a year
What is Handsome Jack going to do with that purple Egg?
This was a great game, most space games that followed sort of "borrowed" a lot of ideas from this game.
great game, nice to see it again, did play it sooo much, was kinda Mass effect before Mass effect
Freelancer is much better then ME, greater depth in certain areas minus having team mates etc, i enjoyed ME 1&2

always thought Decent: freespace was the better game, still do, it had better HUD, better ships, better menus and options.
Replayed the series recently. Still awesome. Did you play Starlancer?
I did play it once, a few years ago and while it is a great space sim it didn't have the open world I enjoy so much in Freelancer
It's difficult to play today but I think it's still good.
I finished this game like 3 times. Wish they made more like it.
Too bad the scrapped the ingame intro, it ties the plot together a lot more nicely.
they had to remove much of the planned content unfortunately :(
Nice! Next, play Privateer, the precursor to this.
