Can you believe that its been 20 years now since his going forward, June 10th was the day, if only I had discovered him sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head) God bless you and his family always!!! Holly in East Tennessee
I'm more of a rock music person but these guys are good :) I work in Cracker Barrel and I hear this song all the time. It's my favorite Oak Ridge Boys song.
It’s great to meet you! I’m also more of a rocker, but worked at a CBOCS as a retail clerk when the “It’s Only Natural” album came out. Hearing ORB constantly gave me a much greater appreciation for the group. I’ve always loved rock/pop groups with big vocal harmonies, such as Styx, Little River Band, and Stryper, and I became very impressed by by ORB’s vocal harmonies also. For the most part, I like the “It’s Only Natural” versions of the songs better, but this is an exception, largely because I don’t think Richard Sterban works well on the lead vocals. But he’s an awesome backing vocalist, and he’s one of the few people I’ve ever heard whose voice is deeper than mine! Thanks for the post, again, it’s great to meet you!
This is a great song I still love it to this day. Too bad great singers like these men here that I grew up listening to don't make it onto radio anymore.
Can you believe that its been 20 years now since Steve went forward, if only I had discovered him sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head) God bless you and his family always!!! Holly in East Tennessee
ACC's #56 song of the '91 survey year. The Oaks hit #6 in Billboard, 6-8-91. God bless y'all, Oaks! Thanx, Homan, for postin' it. Have a blessed New Year. RIP, Steve Sanders.
Been looking on Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music and even iTunes for this song….thank you so much for posting this…. They were my first concert…. Shook the theater when Richard hit those lows…. One of my most cherished memories!
I love the "classic" line-up but, Steve added something to their harmony that William Lee didn't have. Don't know how to explain it but, there was just something speical about him. R.I.P. Steve.
Great song from the Spring/Summer of 1991! I especially always loved the fiddle on this one, along with Steve Sanders' lead vocals and backup bass vocals from Richard Sterban. The first half of 1991 was a really interesting period in which The Oak Ridge Boys, Ronnie Milsap, Conway Twitty, Don WIlliams, Dolly Parton, Glen Campbell, Exile, Ronnie McDowell, and other 70s and 80s veteran artists were still having hits alongside the newcomers at the time like Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, Clint Black, Lorrie Morgan, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Billy Dean, Aaron TIppin, Mark Chesnutt, etc. Unfortunately, airplay for the 70s/80s veterans would start to dwindle later in the year, and most were off the charts by 1992 except for the luckier ones like Alabama, Reba, George Strait, Tanya Tucker, Steve Wariner, etc.
SO, GOOD, GOLDEN, HEART-RENDING AND HARD-DRIVING! 😁😁😁😁😁😎😎😎😎😎😍😍😍😍😍😂😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭😭👫👫👫👫👫👦👦👦👦👦👧👧👧👧👧👨👨👨👨👨👩👩👩👩👩👴👴👴👴👴👵👵👵👵👵💖💖💖💖💖💍💍💍💍💍🌑🌑🌑🌑🌑⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🎰🎰🎰🎰🎰🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙🎻🎻🎻🎻🎻🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🏄🏄🏄🏄🏄🌇🌇🌇🌇🌇🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The new album, It's Only Natural (available only at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store) has a new version of this song with Richard Sterbin (bass vocalist) doing the lead vocal. It's definitely interesting.
Okay what is the dead gum deal with this act??? "Gonna Take A Lot Of River", "Beyond Those Years", and "No Matter How High" were also re-done. Its like the remaining members are trying to erase my late beautiful precious from the group's history!!! (severely offended) God bless you and his family always!!! Holly in East Tennessee P.S. I just have one question for Moe, Larry, Curly, and the lost ZZ Top member: Is this what you want done after YOU GUYS kick the freaking bucket???!!! (wide eyed)
My interpretation of this was the opposite of yours. Fans still clearly enjoy these songs, and I just thought enough time has passed that the Oaks felt they could sing them again, rather than leaving them in limbo. In his book "From Elvis to Elvira," Richard Sterban (the bass singer) mentions they recorded them after "we'd recently put them back in our live shows." That's all he really says on the topic, although he does note that they also recorded "Louisiana Red Dirt Highway," a song William Lee Golden did as a solo singer. I guess I thought re-doing Sanders' songs was a form of tribute to him and acknowledgment of his time with the group, rather than an attempt to erase him. Note that his replacement (Golden) doesn't sing the lead on any of those re-makes. As SpiderSkot mentioned, Sterban does "Lucky Moon," Joe Bonsall takes "Gonna Take a Lot of River" and "Beyond Those Years," and Duane Allen leads on "No Matter How High." I don't know for sure, but I assumed that was on purpose.
The songs being done during the shows doesn't bother me. To me, they never should've been pulled from the play list if they ever were. What gets to me is them being re-done in the studio. If I were to sing a song that had already been done first by someone else, I would want the originally singer to be right there with me and of course, Steve is no where to be found when hearing the new copies of the songs. God bless you and his family always!!! Holly in East Tennessee P.S. Can you believe that its been 20 years now since Steve went forward, if only I had discovered him sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head)
To me, it was Steve who made this act shine its brightest, may the late beautiful precious be with the Lord...I love him so much. God bless you and his family always!!! Holly in East Tennessee
William Lee has a voice you can drown in. Steve had a voice that always pulled the emotions. When I'm not having a good day I avoid the Steve songs since I don't cry. Both are 1 of a kind.
I listen to Steve no matter what kind of day I am having. To me, the late beautiful precious should be kept around as much as a person in his position can be, I love him SO much!!! God bless you and everyone else who loves him always!!! Holly in East Tennessee
Can you believe that its been 20 years now since Steve went forward, June 10th was the day, if only I had discovered him sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head) God bless you and his family always!!! Holly in East Tennessee
Was Steve singing "lead" on this one? It sure doesn't sound like the other guys. This is the lineup that I saw in my very first concert ever when I was a little kid. I was so disappointed that William Lee Golden (I just knew him as the guy with the long beard) wasn't with them. Ruined the whole concert to an extent, but it was still really cool and I've been a lifelong fan. Finally saw them in concert last year with the original members, and going to again in a month...front row.
Yes, this was one of the songs that Steve did the leading for, can you believe that its been 20 years now since his going forward, if only I had discovered him sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head) God bless you and his family always!!! Holly in East Tennessee
Can you believe that it has now been 20 years since Steve went forward, if only I had discovered him sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head) God bless you and his family always!!! Holly in East Tennessee
Their two RCA albums from the early 90s, Unstoppable (1991) and The Long Haul (1992), are still not on Spotify, unfortunately. "Lucky Moon" is from Unstoppable.
The bee allergy national anthem tomorrow she'll bee gone lucky moon stay out tonight sunlight stay away bees can't and don't fly at night flies either keep counting Greg 🤔
Hi. Uh if you really are related to the one on the right, whatever you can share with me about him will be so very much appreciated. I am wanting to know what I can about him because I guess that you can say that even though I used to listen to him and the other guys of this group when I was a little kid, I only just now recently discovered him officially which is totally crushing me because I am well aware of his not being here anymore. Whatever you are able to tell me about him, I will not be able to thank you enough for it. I've been watching the clips here that tell about his marital status being where it was. Can I at least ask about what led him to Cape Coral, FL? It is said in one clip that his home was there when his going forward took place. Did Steve ever try to go solo where his singing was concerned? In my opinion, the beautiful precious is the complete and total package and I wish that I could marry him. (sick to my stomach over the fact that I can't) God bless you and the rest of your family always!!! Holly in East Tennessee (age 35 at the end of next month)
So its been 20 years now since his going forward, June 10th was the day, if only I had discovered him sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head) God bless you and his family always!!! Holly in East Tennessee
Heard this on 103.9 "KRLI country" in Missouri and I fell in love with it on my way from work
Steve had a signature voice that will live on in these songs otherwise being lost forever
The best song of the Steve Sanders era in my opinion.
Can you believe that its been 20 years now since his going forward, June 10th was the day, if only I had discovered him sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head)
God bless you and his family always!!!

Same. RIP Steve Sanders
Preach
Absolutely !!! Steve was an incredible talent !
It’s a god damn tragedy Steve Sanders isn’t in the hall of fame …he is forever the best singer they ever had.
When Steve was in the group, they were at the top of their game. Rip Steve.
The way they sing, "expensive wine," chefs kiss!
This song is one of those heart prayers, for sure.
💞🎵
I like the Oak Ridge Boys and I like "Lucky Moon" it's a definite classic.
