The area you are asking with all the people is the Bearmouth recreation area. It was a campsite the Lewis and Clark expedition stayed at. People come there from Missoula to swim and fish.
Lived in Missoula for year and a half. 14 switchbacks up to the M. It’s a great hike, and even better hiking all the way to the top of Mt Sentinel!

It has cooled off in extreme western Washington but still hot out east. Looks like most of the fires are in the eastern half of the state now.
