Mouthwatering choices there, Wade ! its exciting to discover these with, of course, the rarest of them all, the one drought from the cask I guess, as nothing replaces this kind of experience...and I love Laphroaig too. Alas still haven't got the occasion to try any Whisky Sponge bottling yet, believe me or not (& their stand was super busy at W.L.P. 2024), but as I love Balmenach, I'm sure I'd love that too. Cheers & a Happy New year 2025 to you from France ! 👍🥃
Awesome brother what a list! That number 5 is certainly a gorgeous whisky even though it takes a bit long for it to open up. I haven't tasted it but I'm absolutely sure why your number 1 is your number 1 😃Here's to having more rare whiskies this year 🥃
I too did the tour in November last year and my top 3 were from the Springbank dunnage’s. The 32 Springbank, the Hazelburn 24 and a cage bottle of Springbank 12 PC at 57.9%. And honorable mentions for a Springbank 27 refill Sherry cask from Cadenhead. I had in Campbeltown, and a Bunnahabhain Feis Île 2024 19 year old Moine Madeira cask (only 881 bottles).
For me it was the opening of Ardbeg 25, Laphroaig Elements 1.0, and Balvenie 2nd Rose. Would’ve loved to have snagged Black Arts 10.1 but ran out of budget. Just got to make it a goal for this year
Nice list.👍🏼 This is mine: Hazelburn online tasting week may 2021 15 fresh oloroso 54,9%. Longrow open day may 2022 15 four fresh oloroso hogsheads 56,2%. Compass Box Circus. Compass Box Vellichor. The Dingle single Cask 8 Pedro Ximenez Sherry 59,7% ( ☘️)
We did the Barley to Bottle tour in May of last year right after we left the Islay Festival. That Hazelburn was good, but the 32y Springbank they poured for us in the dunnage warehouse was easily the best whisky I've ever had.
@@McIntyresMalts agreed. The Hazelburn 24 was my favorite as well. I enjoyed the SB32 very much but if I could only have one my choice would have been that H24. It left a deep impression in my mind. Sadly not sale, but it made the tour that much more special.
I tried that Hazelburn....and yes 100% agree it was stunning!

Happy New Year my friend! 🥃🫶
Nicely done Wade!
I’m a lover of any whisky that has touched a fino barrel…..your number one sounds amazing.
Indeed! The fino worked perfectly in this expression for sure 👍
That sounds like an incredible experience at Laphroaig. Would love to have an experience like that some day
Wishing it for you Hayden!

Appreciate it!🥃

I hope you secure a bottle this year my friend!

Both are amazing, but I prefer a sherry influence over bourbon (depending lol)
i liked that SB too however it was let down ever so much by being left until the low 40%abv

did you make it to Speyburn when in scotland?
I didn't, but would have loved too. Did you stop in there? I vaguely recall reading somewhere they don't have visitors, but could be mistaken.
@@McIntyresMalts i did go and grabbed a single cask bourbon matured exclusive. insanely good.
Dam Wade I'm licking my lips with No.3 😮
🥃👍
