      @the antiquity goth, I believe they would get along very well. Finns got along with them very well, even made marriages with them. (I recall there was even a word for the people of mixed marriages between Natives and Finns.) There was one Swedish settlement in the new world. Near this area in the modern world, there was until recently a sign on a tavern near: "No Finns or Indians allowed", which had been there for ages. The Swedish settlement was largely inhabited by Finns, since they were considered by the crown pioneers, and they indeed were such. Finns farmed using burn-clearing and lived in forests, had all kinds of primitive habits and customs, they very primitive and barbarian indeed.

    I must sincerely thank you for highlighting the time of the Bronze Age and especially the Yamnaya culture. The more I advance in my study of this field, and the more I realize that this time was really founding. Many cultural, social, artistic, linguistic, economic aspects of our history find their origin in this time and place. It is time for us Europeans to return what we owe them. In addition, it allows us all to unite around the same basic culture, whether we are Latin, German, Greek, Slavic (and even Armenian or Iranian) because we all once had (at least partly) the same language, the same gods, the same blood.

    • @gilleslabhach7904
      @gilleslabhach7904 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Agreed.
      Well, if you're interested in reading about the beliefs and mythology of the native Slavic faith, I would suggest first getting familiar with the founding fathers of studying Slavic folklore & mythology, i.e. A.N. Afanasjev, V. V. Ivanov & V. N. Toporov; then I suggest having a look at the works of Boris Rybakov (Iazychestvo drevnykh slavian, "Ancient Slavic Paganism", 1981) and looking at the online archives of the fantastic academic publications, such as STUDIA MYTHOLOGICA SLAVICA (available through the Slovenian Academy of Sciences & Arts) and Folklorica (available through Kansas University).
      Henryka Czajka wrote a great book, "The Heroic Folk Epic of the Southern Slavs", but I believe it has only been published in Polish.
      Adrian Ivakhiv studies Slavic paganism, and he (among with other scholars whose works I've read such as Aleksander Gieysztor and Jakub Zielina) seem to more or less agree with the theory that the majority of Slavs followed a pantheon which fits into Georges Dumézil's trifunctional hypothesis. Even scholars agree that the deities of all the Indo-European tribes (whether Slavs, Balts, Anglo-Saxons, Norsemen, Greeks, etc.) were, to a certain degree inter-changeable and all served as role models which explained and looked after the tripartite division of society into castes (the priests/shamans, the warriors, the farmers). Now, guess which Middle-Eastern division founded around the year 0 A.D. mimicked this tripartite faith in order to appeal more to native Europeans? ;)
      Anyway, I know this is kind of a chaotic list. I've only really started building my TH-cam channel and for about 5 more months I'll be uploading very rarely, but some of the videos I plan to make in the future will be about Slavic mythology and native faith (filling in the gap left by Survive the Jive? :P)

    You gotta make a video about the Scythians, Sarmatians and Alans. I find the culture and history of what I like to call "The European Iranians" absolutely fascinating!
    Many people don't realize how close Iranian culture was to Slavic and Germanic cultures in Europe, the mutual influence, and the part these European Iranians played in the histories of Greece, Rome and Eastern Europe.
    The Scythians/Sarmatians are the stuff of legends. Amazonian women, Conan the Barbarian, serpent gods, mages, mounted archers and fierce warriors.
    Even J.R.R Tolkien based some of his Middle-Earth mythology on that of the Iranian steppe nomads, and much of the fantasy fiction and fantasy video games take cues from Scythian and Sarmatian culture and mythology.

    Everything fine my friend, but there around 20' your critics on solar symbolism could be more insightful...
    Well originally it was Uranus (Varuna, the IE Sky-Father) that was the center of their patriarchal cosmic spirituality /metaphysics. Sun was simply meant as the eye of the Sky. Combined with the symbolism of the Fire {Agni}, the symbolism gradually shifted so, that it became the Sun, who incorporated the essence of Uranus. The Sun does also convey the idea of the Origin, as a new manifestation of the One, the origin out of which the world emanates.
    This is why Helios (=sun) is masculine in Greek, whilst in German "die Sonne" is feminine.
    I assume that you have checked, that sun also in PIE language was grammatically feminine.
    That cannot alter a nanometer of the metaphysical insights of the great Julius Evola anyway!
    The moon does not have its own light, it is just reflecting the light, which it receives from the Sun; the feminine nature and the shallow intellect (reflection!) so alike.
    In this interpretation, not only conveyed by the Greek and Roman tradition but also by other Indoeuropean families (look for example at the Mithraic tradition), we have an invaluable key to the understanding of the essence of the Aryan spiritual core.
    I have just seen your video here, and I am answering spontaneously without reviewing literature etc in order to reinforce my point, in awareness of the fact that you are a pure idealist, so that I can feel quite certain, that you are getting my message.
    Keep doing the good work!

      the sky father was not a sun god and the sun was only an inferior and feminine component of the daylight sky in the original IE worldview - yes that changed for the urbanised IE cultures over time, while the more rural IE cultures preserved the idea of sun as female

    • @steffang.diomedes3522
      @steffang.diomedes3522 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Survivethejive I didn't mean, that the Sky-Father was a sun god, no.
      What I said is, that in the new symbolism of those "urbanised", as you put it, IE cultures, the male Sun somehow took over the role of the Sky Father. In view of that, the symbolic use of the solar character by J. Evola is fully justifiable - and it is also a very effective, very comprehensive, insightful and accurate symbolism of the corresponding qualities.
      By the way, I have always believed that, the main reason why christianity was so relatively easily accepted (sometimes...) was exactly its association with our own PIE Sky-Father as central god - but we were unfortunately deceived...

      I think it depends on what a culture considers characteristically masculine or characteristically feminine. A culture that considers contemplation to be the characteristic masculine quality might see the moon as being male, and this would probably be reflected in a priestly culture (the moon and the night time are symbolically associated with contemplation). A culture that held up action as the characteristic male quality would consider the sun more masculine, and this would be reflected in a aristocratic and war-like culture. Just speculating.

    There has been a welcome change in the past twenty years or so, and a lot of progress has been made in challenging Eurocentric paradigms in various fields in the social sciences. Much of the progress has been made in bits and pieces, and there are no cogent multi-cultural frameworks and perspectives yet in most fields. This progress has largely been achieved due to the fact that people from different countries from around the world have taken up positions in eminent and prestigious American and European universities, and have raised objections and concerns on important issues. Thus, we can see a multicultural perspective emerging on different issues (big change even from the year 2000, when many obsolete paradigms of consequence to different cultures remained unchallenged) However, solving a complex puzzle such as that of Indo-European origins is a different ballgame altogether, and requires not only an inter-disciplinary approach, but also a multi-cultural one. What experiential knowledge would an Indian national have of Iceland, Albania, or Kazakhastan? This is easier said than done and requires persistence and dedication. Such endeavours may take decades and will call for proficiency in many different languages, knowledge of different cultures and a thorough grasp on different regional histories as well. I still see this as a distant pipedream, as few researchers have even thought on these lines, as yet. However, raising awareness may expedite things a bit. It is now time to kick start that process!
