Very nice to see a standard mk4 GT TDi in great condition. Too many of these have been abused or messed about with in my area now. Genuine VAG clearcoat is top quality and it really shows in your machine polishing on this car. It looks lovely inside and out. And I'm looking forward to the Beetle video.
@@Supremepikachu There are plenty of car people who abuse these. They treat these cars as disposable because they kind of are.. They're so cheap that no matter how much you like cars, you can just abuse and neglect them.
Yeah man those engines are indestructible for real. If the world were ever to end, everything would be gone, except for all 1.9TDI engines, because those can't break.
Excellent job! My grandmother had one of these GT TDis back in '04, as a 14yr old lad I lusted over owning one! It's amazing to see (once you got it clean again!) that that interior still looks just as smart as it did back then, and the overall design of the car has aged so well to think its over 25yrs old! Awesome, and thank you for the short trip back in time 😎
It's a great idea, BUT please double check with your car wash franchising. What is allowed and what is not!! Beside obvious things like being strictly forbidden oil change or for that matter, any kind of oil dump into the sewage... Things like bringing your own shampoo, soaps, etc. is also not accepted in fact is usually strictly regulated! Big fine or being banned is a real thing! After all it's their business, not really a surprise. A bit like bringing outside food or drinks to a restaurant. Of go to the bar/pub and bring your own drinks... So apply a bit of that rare thing called common sense! ;-)
Thanks for posting. I think the short history of each car which you provide at the start of every video (particularly the age and mileage of each car) is great as it gives good context, so thanks for including that in your videos. Yours are the only car detailing videos I’ve come across which include that info every time.
Lovely work and an amazing transformation. Calm narration and a good choice of background music are a bonus. Liking your channel a lot. Watching from inland Spain.
At the closest place there are 3 washers at the shop on the other side of the road there is one. 2 streets further down the road there are 2 and still they are clock watching while I clean 😂
I was thinking the same thing, I use public wash bays and where i live every single time I go there is a line up and the attendants don't let people hang around to deep clean their cars, they all have signs that say no hand washing. So it's a good idea, just not feasible everywhere.
I don't know what it is about your channel, but it puts me in a good mood (not just like "I'm gonna go wash my car") but more like "Life's good!" Idk, lol

Great video. Love your comment about snow foam. I know a guy who works for a well known super car detailing company and he says they don’t use snow foam as it does nothing a decent jet wash does. It’s just used for images and promo videos. Subscribed. 👍🏻
Hi Andy👍😀 I think some newer snow foams .. may do something .. but on these trade wrecks there is no point, strong APC (or TRF) gets most of the crud off prior to a hand wash, no time/need for a 5 stage wash on a sub 5k cheap car that's been neglected

Good job, I always enjoy watching. One thing I did pick up on was that you said when using the clay bar, it will remove iron filings.. it will not do this and to remove that type of fallout you need to use a product like iron x or similar.

Another great job. Just to let you know, when I used 303 all I did was spray the 303 protectant on the engine and just let it seat, no spread around with an applicator and for very difficult areas used a small sponge paint brush to apply. I have also saw a video from 303 where the showed how to clean the engine and so I did exactly the same. Another thing that I have done is use Meguiars Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer and does an amazing job too by applying it with a brush and this thing lasts long too for many applications saving you $ € £. One of the things I don't normally do is use an engine degreaser, all use is a mix of soap like Dwarn and water, agitate all the area with brush and spray with water hose. All it takes is about 15 minutes and I save $ or in your case € or £ from degreaser products. Great video and best idea on having a package for those that live in condos and only can take their vehicles to wash on a place where they have is pressured water to do the car themselves. When I was young I had a facility with pressured water but soaps for car care weren't many and you had to do the job fast because the place was packed. So one of the other options was getting early in the morning to do it when it wasn't packed of people and you could do it better. Family member recently purchased an indigo blue MkIV GTI with 177k miles, (historied car sourced from a trade friend of mine...Price reflected poor cosmetic condition). I saw your vid after most of my work done. I use an old Megs G220. I had to wet sand with P2000 to reduce worst RDS prior to machine correction (dark paint not forgiving). I used megs 105 & 80... LSP Colinite 476 (faster to work with than 915). Just the bonnet took me 2 hours today, (megs burgundy pad now near dead) ! Every time I finish heavy correction on German cars I promise to future invest in a basic rotary. Touch up methods similar to mine for non concours daily drivers too. Door shut rubbers a pain to clean on this model golf. (Now) sticky soft plastic finish is a nightmare & time consuming. Need to watch your beetle vid next as one door here has been rattle can sprayed by a blind chimp...(I have prior done corners & rims with cans with ok acceptable results). Good to see tried & tested practical common sense approach for a high mileage daily driver. Q : Do you recall roughly how many hours on that detail ? (I am guessing 12-16 hours work). Great results & channel (liked & subscribed). Thanks for sharing.
Another top job. Why are most fuel caps dirty, you have to touch them!? Wow a spare wheel, haven't seen one of them for a long time! Looking forward to seeing the Beetle.
Great videos. It would be really helpful to me and maybe others if you could say what ratios of Surfex you are using on all the different applications. Engine bay, bodywork and interior etc… I love the product and it’s versatility but never sure on the safe dilution.
Golf looks amazing, great work! Still today the golf doesn't look that old, definitely not built like this anymore. The PD 1.9 tdi engine is one of the best diesel engines ever made. I had a audi A3 1.9 tdi 130 for 3 years and it never let me down, sold it to my brother with 180k and still drove fantastic
Great video there and great results,iv just opened a detailing company in cumbria as iv been doing it for 20+ yrs,out of interest how much would you charge for a typical car like the golf you have just done,I'm finding it hard to find the clients willing to spend the money it would cost to put their cars back to a very good standard, when they can take it to the local 'scrub n scratch' foreign car wash who will do it for £30...we all know it's not going to be done correctly at that price, but it's getting the message accros to the customers is the hard part...keep up the good work.
Good question! I only work for the trade so cant comment on the retail side. However this job would have been usually around £125, its a traders own personal car so we had a deal 😀 The trade knows what they can get from a hand car wash and its limitations.. a lot of my customers use them for the easier stuff.. and as we can see I get the more involved cars. Being able to machine polish will be your greatest asset as the local hand car wash avoid this.. to risky and time consuming for them.. remember its £120 per panel for paint (on average trade) so a machine polish to remove scratches seems a lot cheaper option
Can I ask you you would go about cleaning thick human grease and grime from the plastics on one of these Mk4 golfs. It’s so thick I thought the paint was coming off in the interior. Please help as it’s the only thing that’s letting the car down. Great video and very relaxing oddly to watch. Thanks.
Hi lee these do suffer from "soft plastic failure" they had this semi rubber coating on the plastic's and its prone to go sticky and peel off .. it could be that.
I'm watching your videos and I just dream about some passionate expert like you to detail my Citroen Berlingo 17 years old that I believe have never been washed inside since it's launch.
Ever had a look at that the 'Nathan Flannel Rotary Seat Cleaning Method'? It uses a rotary, a big wool pad and a foaming cleaner (+APC) to clean the seats. Definitely save you a lot of time and results are almost always amazing. However, you only clean the top layer of the seat, and not the cushioning material. I'm not quite sure how to think of that quite yet. What's your thought about that? If there's away to make it work on carpets, that would be king, since there's not a lot of material underneath that. But sadly I don't have the means yet to test that.
Not heard about that, but to be honest there is usually so much filth deep in the seats of the cars I clean, it's probably for the best they get a good deep clean :)
Those headlights look immaculate for a 17yo car. Owner's had them polished, right? My car is a couple of years younger than this and don't look that clear! Thank you for not having an annoying "soundtrack" on your videos. This is one of the few channels where I can watch the videos without having it muted for the whole duration.
Excellent videos especially the way you go through it and describe what you are doing Please keep up the great work and please keep safe Also how do I contact you for some work
Just be cautious with the A.P.C .. always better to go a bit to weak/diluted and work you way up with leather.. having said that the sides and back are usually vinyl.. and black is a much safer colour to clean 😀👍 Also apply a leather feed/conditioner after wards, quite a few brands.. I have no specific one.
@@everydaydetailing6449 atta boy. Wish I could get some of the compounds you guys get in the UK. I like M105 but I don't love it. M205 is a different story which is fantastic and nice long work time but the great products don't exist here tho
Thats a great job done there. Knowing how much a full wet interior and single stage detail costs, I question whether the Trade would actually spend that much on an old nail Golf?
Hi Dale Stauffer Garage and Detailing geek both have good channels, I've been detailing/cleaning cars for over 20 years ;) Having started TH-cam the main problem I've had is people asking about products, and being trade based we have chemicals that are not labeled/produced for the main stream public. So it's a learning curve for me trying new products to recommend that are as good or better, plus being a honest guy I want to try these products for a number of weeks/cars to make sure if I recommend something I know it will do the job to a good standard, I'm not just after making a buck of a Amazon link! I must confess it's a bit like xmas at the moment with parcels turning up with all these new products to try :) .. My attitude if they work well on the wrecks I clean, they should be good for the viewers at home :)
Can you tell me what tools did you use to do this spectacular detailing job, i have a 2015 VW Gti Turbo and I would love to clean my vehicle as good as you cleaned this one. Thank you in advance...
Try ONR as a clay lube, much more cost effective. If you like 303 you will also like hyper dressing, use it at 1:4 for interior plastics same for engines.
You’d be surprised at just how “all-purpose” a good all purpose cleaner really is. If it came down to it and you had no buckets, no soap, just some apc, micro fibers, and a hose, you could do nearly an entire wash with the stuff. It wouldn’t be as safe, but it would be effective. As for the interior, apc will solve nearly all of your problems and if you don’t have a dedicated window cleaner, water and a microfiber will do a fantastic job. Most people think detailing involves putting a lot of money into fancy tools and learning specific skills but at its core, it’s really simple and you can work wonders on a tight budget, it’s all about the process you employ and using what you have to the maximum effectiveness.
I really agree with you I have lots of tools and products .. but if you had so slim the kit down its amazing what you could do with out, and still get the job done 😀👍
Every Day Detailing No doubt about that mate, I started out detailing my car on a $40 budget for products (excluding public wash facilities) and made my car look fantastic!
I've got a mk4 golf, and although it's worth £750 it's in an absolutely fantastic condition. Love driving it... Could never sell it... It'll be 17 in September
1 litre bottle of wheel cleaner, (bh autowheels) apc, degreaser. Gamma deal lid/bucket of onr. Various brushes and a big red, with drying towels for after. I live in a flat so this is my way at petrol station.
The engine bay dressing you mention with just soaking the engine bay when it's wet and let it evaporate, this can be done with 303. That's what I do to my cars
Hi new to your channel just subscribed today after watching the every day detail on the Golf TDI, really good video , was interested to know what tyre dressing you use , I’m using autoglym but find I get a lot of sling from it on the bodywork after driving it? Any thoughts?
Ok what’s the trade product called may be able to get a mate to get some , just want something that doesn’t sling up the body work that has some life in it Cheers

Any issues with the rubberised 'Soft Touch' interior finish? This is usually a problem on a Golf of this age. I'm removing the finish from my interior and slowly reverting back to natural plastic.

Q : Do you recall roughly how many hours on that detail ? (I am guessing 12-16 hours work).
Great results & channel (liked & subscribed). Thanks for sharing.
You did a great job, makes me want to get my TDI detailed! How long did this take and what’s the typical hourly rate in your area?
I have no idea as everyone says "I'm to cheap" I only work for the trade so cant advise on retail costs 👍😀
Another top job. Why are most fuel caps dirty, you have to touch them!? Wow a spare wheel, haven't seen one of them for a long time! Looking forward to seeing the Beetle.
Thanks Duncan
fuel caps always seems to be filthy!
Great videos. It would be really helpful to me and maybe others if you could say what ratios of Surfex you are using on all the different applications. Engine bay, bodywork and interior etc… I love the product and it’s versatility but never sure on the safe dilution.
Thank you 🙏 For thinking’s about us the people that doesn’t have the luxury of wash your car at home
You are so welcome!
Thanks for watching :)
Thanks 👍 They are great cars and engines :)
However this job would have been usually around £125, its a traders own personal car so we had a deal 😀
The trade knows what they can get from a hand car wash and its limitations.. a lot of my customers use them for the easier stuff.. and as we can see I get the more involved cars.
Being able to machine polish will be your greatest asset as the local hand car wash avoid this.. to risky and time consuming for them.. remember its £120 per panel for paint (on average trade) so a machine polish to remove scratches seems a lot cheaper option
Great result looks the business, looking forward to the next one 👍
Thanks 👍
Muy buen video y excelente resultado. Buen trabajo. Saludos desde España.
Thank you 😀👍
Can I ask you you would go about cleaning thick human grease and grime from the plastics on one of these Mk4 golfs.
It’s so thick I thought the paint was coming off in the interior.
Please help as it’s the only thing that’s letting the car down.
Great video and very relaxing oddly to watch. Thanks.
Hi lee
these do suffer from "soft plastic failure" they had this semi rubber coating on the plastic's and its prone to go sticky and peel off .. it could be that.
I love Aerospace 303. It’s wonderful stuff.
Starting to really like it :)
Enjoyed the whole video. A real everyday car. Great job
Thanks 👍
Much appreciated Colin
I'm watching your videos and I just dream about some passionate expert like you to detail my Citroen Berlingo 17 years old that I believe have never been washed inside since it's launch.
Ever use a iron remover solution for the paint as well as the wheels?
Sometimes the stuff stinks, so as and when needed :)
finally man!been waiting for this forever!
Happy days :)
Nice work,it looks so clean and fresh, the owner will like it when he has it back.
Thanks Steven, he was very happy :)
Nice Golf, been driving tdi 130hp for a 5 years and can say all the best. Even when I sold him it was in a top shape.
They are very strong cars 😀👍
Love this car. Só good to see like a new one. Great job
Pd130 life, a lot of my friends drive these.
Very strong cars 👍😊
That’s a PD150 👍
Wow. Quality car. For a car that old it is looking great inside and out. They don't build them like that anymore.
It did come up well :)
I agree
Thanks Truly
As far as we can tell they are original, The had quite a few dead bugs inside!
I try to keep the music tolerable ;)
Greetings from Portugal. Due to the VW beettle that's comming i'm, probably, the most recent subscriber 😅 Keep up the good work. CHEERS!
Awesome! Thank you! :)
Great work new subber, great content learning alot from you, thanks for your hard work helping others coming behind you.
Awesome, thank you!
Much appreciated William :)
Lovely Jubbly matey, I hope you charged them the full amount, great turnaround.
Hi Paul was for a trader friend.. so not a big earn but good content and some KFC 👍😀
We’re you using the jet wash at Sainsbury’s Water Lane, Farnham? Great result and turnaround on a solid car.
Yes :)
Excellent videos especially the way you go through it and describe what you are doing
Please keep up the great work and please keep safe
Also how do I contact you for some work
Thanks, will do!👍😀
Brilliant video and turnaround. I’m going to do this to my 08 160k golf GT
Any suggestions for black leather cleaner?
Just be cautious with the A.P.C .. always better to go a bit to weak/diluted and work you way up with leather.. having said that the sides and back are usually vinyl.. and black is a much safer colour to clean 😀👍 Also apply a leather feed/conditioner after wards, quite a few brands.. I have no specific one.
Hi I’ve bought some Bilt Hamber APC. Can I ask what ratio you use for engine bay cleaning and using around the door shuts ta .
Wow! Its 288.000 kilometers! A have a friend that got 400.000 kilometers, - 250k miles - from a vw just changing oil and water on right time.
Your audio is much better in this video. it's usually a bit lacking but whatever you did to change it keep going with it 👌
Noted!
I had a few comments about it being low .. so bumped it up this time :)
Hi Gary he's had it for 12 years and love the old thing 😀👍
@@everydaydetailing6449 - well I doff my cap to that...many miles left for the VW - making it realtively eco...
Literally cannot wait for the next video! Looks like a real disaster, hopefully you can bring it back from the 'brink of death'😂😂😂
Hopefully this weekend :) the video will go live on youtube
Really enjoy the videos using "real cars" Can you tell me is £150 about right for cleaning the interior and general fix-up of exterior
Thanks Robert 👍
Aerospace 303,someone’s been watching The Detail Geek 👍 Top work as always though.
Hi Dale
Stauffer Garage and Detailing geek both have good channels, I've been detailing/cleaning cars for over 20 years ;)
Having started TH-cam the main problem I've had is people asking about products, and being trade based we have chemicals that are not labeled/produced for the main stream public.
Those seats for 180,000 miles are in amazing condition I had a Renault 5 turbo and the drivers seat was knackered after 45,000 miles.
Ren 5 turbo :) very cool car
Fantastic job! Thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Can you tell me what tools did you use to do this spectacular detailing job, i have a 2015 VW Gti Turbo and I would love to clean my vehicle as good as you cleaned this one. Thank you in advance...
Jet wash
Numeric Henry vacuum
Karcher pizza wet vac
Rupes or flex da polisher
Rupes mini polisher 👍😊
Try ONR as a clay lube, much more cost effective. If you like 303 you will also like hyper dressing, use it at 1:4 for interior plastics same for engines.
Thank you Paul I will look into both :)
The problem with my local car wash is you pay per minute. I can't just pay and use the water when I want so it turns out very expensive after a bit.
😀👍
Brilliant detail, curious as to know how much would a job like this cost? And how many hours these sort of jobs take?
Depends
this was done for the trader as a favor .. took around 2 days 😀👍
Well done I waiting to see the beetle don't be late 👌👏
You and me both!
on the case, should be on for the weekend Med :)
I've got a mk4 golf, and although it's worth £750 it's in an absolutely fantastic condition. Love driving it... Could never sell it... It'll be 17 in September
They are super strong :)
1 litre bottle of wheel cleaner, (bh autowheels) apc, degreaser. Gamma deal lid/bucket of onr. Various brushes and a big red, with drying towels for after. I live in a flat so this is my way at petrol station.
Thanks for sharing
Much appreciated BlutoandCo :)
The engine bay dressing you mention with just soaking the engine bay when it's wet and let it evaporate, this can be done with 303. That's what I do to my cars
Thanks for the tip 😀👍
Can I ask what brand of all purpose cleaner recommend? Really great video!
Hi Bilt Hamber surfex H.D 😀👍
Hi new to your channel just subscribed today after watching the every day detail on the Golf TDI, really good video , was interested to know what tyre dressing you use , I’m using autoglym but find I get a lot of sling from it on the bodywork after driving it? Any thoughts?
Thanks for the sub!
Its a trade only product, I'm currently trying retail products to recommend :)
Ok what’s the trade product called may be able to get a mate to get some , just want something that doesn’t sling up the body work that has some life in it Cheers
i heard that if you take the petrol cap out then pressure wash, it really cleans the car and adds 100bhp
I was told 150hp 😂👍
Great videos, especially for the home car cleaner. What was the name of the spray on liquid for the car engine bay to dress it ?
Thanks Joe.
Sixty Seconds of Stephens aerospace 303
@@padraigdowling8312 thanks, much appreciated.
@@padraigdowling8312 thanks, much appreciated.
As below aerospace 303 :)
@@everydaydetailing6449 did you also use Autoglym super sheen & or Autoglym vinyl and rubber care??
congrats! ✨
excuse me what Karcher model do you use you've said?
.. and what cleaner do you use for seats and carpets? thanks!
wet vac is karcher puzzi 1/10 👍😀
@@everydaydetailing6449 thank you.
and excuse me for asking again about kind of detergent you like best. I think you have a precious experience and so all your advices are very useful.
You should show the reaction of your clients 🙌🏼
Sadly they expect this standard.. so its not very exciting lol
Every Day Detailing ooh I got you
Love the videos man! keep up the great work!
Thanks! Will do!
Sorry for the late reply, you ended up in the "spam folder" 😀👍
Massive improvment on the Golf!
Thanks Demetrios 😀👍
Any issues with the rubberised 'Soft Touch' interior finish? This is usually a problem on a Golf of this age.
I'm removing the finish from my interior and slowly reverting back to natural plastic.
they all start to peel off with age .. awful design 👍😀
Great video, which karcher did you use on the seats and carpets again? Would it be any good getting engine oil out of carpet in a car? Thanks
Karcher puzzi 1/10 and it will depend how good the carpet cleaning solution is to break down the oil + the machine to extract it with :)
