- Did you know that silverfish can mine for you in Minecraft? I gathered a bunch of silverfish in a pit and added poison and regeneration potions. They started destroying blocks at insane speeds! This method is way more effective than using TNT since it leaves ores untouched, saving valuable resources. But why don’t they break ores and only other blocks? Silverfish infest blocks and when they take damage, infested blocks break and spawn more silverfish, creating a crazy chain reaction. Learn how to use this trick to destroy deepslate much faster than with a pickaxe.

What people see: An interestingly effective mining technique.

you can get a lot of chickens or smth and then use the new potion of infestation to spawn silverfish when the chickens die
potion of infestation doesnt require the affected mob to die to spawn silverfish
Instead, it has a 10% chance to spawn silverfish every time the affected mob takes damage
So you should use a higher health mob to maximise the efficiency of the pots
Also use poison , suffocation, etc to damage mobs
@@NoiceCreamSandwich orrrrrr we can just use a Redstone contraption that throws out lingering poison and regeneration at fixed intervals so the mobs inside get damaged then healed so it's an automatic silverfish spawner

I've been playing Minecraft since around beta 1.8 or 1.9 (I just remember that I started playing a little bit before the enchanting table was added but I didn't pay attention to what update it was because it was just Minecraft to 8 year old me) and I'm still learning more about this game, not even the new updates I'm still finding out features that have been in the game forever. Where Minecraft is today is mind-blowing, we have turtles, dolphins, Frogs, ARMADILLOS!, GOATS!, AND INSANE CAVES AND AN INSANE NETHER.. These were mods I had back in the day. I never could have guessed that Minecraft would be where it is today
Btw you can get the infested effect from trial chambers. It spawns silverfish right at you. The effect can only be on the player if they activate the trial and get lucky potion spawns.
This is even better than using non-silverfish-mobs as Silverfish source, now just I need to take damage at my Silverfish drill, so I am a silverfish vessel.

With a lot of time and effort, automated silverfish based mining machines could be pretty insane.
The only problem with it is that then silverfish will dig straight down, and we know that you can't break the number 1 rule in minecraft.

@@samukun9886i think he talks about the chain reaction that would have ended the whole world if pysics worked like that and no one knew if the chain reaction would stop so theoreticlly nukes were more dangerous than they actually were even though they are still world ending weapon.

An easier way is to get potions of infestation so you don’t have to go the the stronghold

Stored thousands of them in stone blocks thanks to piston chains.
Etho used this method once upon a time. Seeing this reminded me of that. I want to do this now.

Allays with the Potion of Infestation: Why hello there

Just use a potion of infestation. I belive its brewed with a stone and akward potion.
Trap a lot of (minimum 1 block tall)mobs in a cage with a 0.5 block opening in the bottom. Splash poison, Regeneration and infestation on the mobs. The New potion effect will make the Mobs spawn silverfish when damaged.
Normally this setup is used for XP farms but it can also be used for Termite mining

You can also do this with witherroses and allays
Allays cant die but they can take damage so if you have like 30+ allays in a 2x2 w-rose cage your also good to go

@bowxfire5275 Yes, it was added in 1.21. It causes all affected mobs to have a 10 percent chance of spawning silverfish when they are hit.
@@Cust0mCraft bruh soo many weird things that mc has added to mc since I quit. It all makes sense when you constantly play but once you quit and miss a few updates, it's all ogre.

This method was discovered by Etho, way back in 1.8 (when they added the strong holds) however it didn't gain traction because the infrastructure needed to transport silverfish was annoying to build, and TNT mining was much easier (TNT does not destroy items by default if you time them to all go off at once).
People are only talking about it now because you can build portable silverfish generators using a combination of the infested, regeneration, and poison potions.
New speedrun: find a diamond ore only with this metod.

@@bazelisek8288For anyone wondering how to utalize this, make an akward potion first with a netherwart, then add a stone block. To make it splash add gunpowder.
This will give a 10% chance for the affected mob to drop 1-2 silverfish upon being damaged. You could farm a bunch of silverfish this way by using a high HP mob (like an iron golem for example) poisoning it, then keep healing it. It may take a while due to the 10% chance, but you can get a ton of silverfish if you preserve.
This way you can basically farm a bunch of silverfish literally anywhere!

Every time the mobs take damage, there is a chance for silverfish to spawn.
After that, you've basically made a hole that could go to bedrock.

There exists an automatic silverfish farm using allays, drowning, and one of the new potions added in 1.21. so I'd say that's how you could fo it

Fun fact: on bedrock there's a chance this "doesn't work". To fix that hit a silverfish in survival and go back into creative, works like a charm.

this would actually be perfect for survival and wouldnt even feel super cheesy, they just need to allow us to put silverfish in buckets. the efficiency and automation are balanced out by the fact you need to reach the end portal, and craft a bunch of potions and buckets

Or you can get a mob like an alley and splash oozing on it, then throw it in a forever fire or something with music playing nearby so they can endlessly produce silverfish, hence a silverfish farm.

I actually used this type of way to mine faster, I found a place where for some reason, you can find lots of infested stones and that is how I always find silverfish.
