Only hard working musicians and steely fan’s can appreciate how hard it is to play another’s composition like they wrote it. The night fly is truly underrated.
I clicked on this thinking it was Donald Fagen but stayed with it and it turned out to be excellent. Not the easiest of songs but Gene Miller certainly did it justice and the musicians/ singers were spot on. Very well done.

I only just stumbled upon this amazing show footage and am utterly floored at how beautifully performed these songs are. My girlfriend is a background vocalist in a Steely Dan tribute band and I’ve sat in a few times to sing lead so I know just how difficult it is to faithfully recreated these tunes. A brilliant cover of this marvellous composition! I have always admired Fagan's skill in creating a whole world with just some simple words: the American, friend of the Batista regime, who stays in Cuba just too long and is surprised by Castro's revolution, which will probably cost him his life.
Hands Down, the best cover of this that I’ve ever heard. To take on SD is a task in itself, but to be able to capture the essence of their material and it still sounds fresh with a KILLER cast from the lead singers rasp, to the powerful BGVs, and the dynamic band. What a great listen⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
this is fabulous. Band nails it and the singer has that perfectly smooth, slightly graveled voice that fits so well. He even hits intonations that accent the lyrics in his own, elegant and poignant way
Some music composers were so good to teach us, how to be respectful towards a certain elegance performing, watching such bands so respectful of a certain way of making music is suuuuper gorgeous indeed, you are doing a great job guys, never stop believe in, Easter celebrations are near, let them sound just this good, everybody get out and paaaarty we are lucky survivors

This is a great cover, killer groove and arrangement, pristine instruments/tones, great singers. Lead vocalist has nailed the phrasing and the range is very close to Fagen's prime. Congrats!
Love it! You may not know it, but sound reinforcement engineers use this album "The Nightfly" by Donald F.,and other albums, to properly adjust sound systems for maximum performance.
