    Yeah...I totally know what u r talking about as I used to work at Border Express and StarTrack. When it rains, u will be wet top to bottom while loading or doing delivery at customer’s. When it’s windy, you could be hit and injured by bars on each end of the curtain or buckles.

      That's why I'm glad I'm not doing general. Having your curtain turn into a kite, was a nightmare. Although I still get wet while waiting for the fuel to go into the ground. However, I'm lucky that some sites have some sort of "shelter".

    G’day Rod Did you purchase a new truck!?? I’m looking at buying a truck for a 3years contract any advice which brand to go for .!!? Thanks Rod 👍👍

      Hi Joel.
      Got a new truck not so long ago, company truck. If you are buying used than Kenworth are reliable and. If it does have a problem on the road someone that can repair it would probably be easier to find.
      If you are buying new, European trucks are possibly cheaper with some offerings service package deals as well. There is a lot to consider, cost of vehicle, service cost, fuel economy and maybe resale value. I personally would be looking at Mercedes Benz or Kenworth.
      Of cause you can always buy a Thorpe truck every thing is for sale at a price, even the one I drive.

    I'm in W.A.. I passed my M.C license /roadtrain over a year ago and have held a NZ class 5 (b double) for a few years also.... trying to get a break into driving hc or mc driving full time is tough.

    Would be nice if they actually wanted to train young blokes but all they want is experienced people. Upgraded from hr to mc but no one willing to give me a chance

      If you're willing to move or FIFO there's plenty of companies in the mining areas that'll take near anyone with a pulse and is keen, I'm based in Kalgoorlie and companies here are having to FIFO drivers in just to keep the trucks moving.

    Hey Rod,
    Just wondering what your opinion of trucking in Australia in the future with all these changes stirring?

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trucking will be trucking, you have to accept the changes, like electronic work diaries, driver-facing cameras. I'm lucky to work for a company that will not put things in place unless they have too. Are companies making changes for safety or just protecting themselves (eg. driver-facing cameras)?

    do u have shortage of truck drivers there in Australia??

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey. Shortage of drivers no, experienced drivers yes, companies not willing to give new drivers a chance or training.

    • @StaffordMagnus
      @StaffordMagnus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the area, in the cities probably not, in the mining areas companies are screaming for drivers.

    • @bigryanm7083

      Australian Trucker Rod thats the problems with companies they’re not willing to give a chance to new drivers..
