Jack Tenrec I'll agree Stewart was apparently a great trainer, but I once met Emmanuel Stewart, Tommy Hearns&Hilmer Kinty at Detroit airport on the way for a Hearns/Archibald fight in England. Stewart made it clear he thought I was a pest, while Tommy&Hilmer were friendly as could be, shaking my hand, patting me on the back, laughing at my wisecracks&telling Emmanuel to "cool off" while they chatted with me. But Stewart mainly gave me impatient looks& was obviously fed up with dealing with fans. This was my only experience with these guys.

Tomari Fernandez I was at the National Boxing Hall of Fame in LA 2 months ago, and I had this exact conversation at dinner with 3 different IBHOF (The real HOF in NY) Voters.
And every single one of them said they would never vote for Micky Ward. I pleaded my case like crazy, all 3 of them said they voted no on Arturo Gatti as well. They said Ward vs Gatti deserves its own place in HOF. But neither was a IBHOF caliber fighter. Gatti got in, but I don’t see Ward ever getting in. He was too much a journeyman.
Although, I will continue to campaign for Micky Ward. He’s my hero and an inspiration to my life.

Mickey Ward gave the sport of boxing all that he had. And he will be forever remembered for it as the very definition of a fighter. He never gave up.

Dude, I remember the arrogance of Mayweather and more so his FANS going in on Gatti with these hilarious declarations of "How and Why Gatti thought he could make a good fight or even win!!" And a lot of EASY Tough Talk (it's SO EASY to go hard when you're favorite fighter is THE GUY like Floyd, Roy, Arguello, Leonard, etc....)
They acted like we all didn't know that Arturo couldn't do anything with Floyd's slips and counter rights, and probably wouldn't land much outside of a few body shots. We KNEW, but we were cool with Arturo because he was a real tough guy, infighter, who had a job to do and was gonna do it. It's like a lot of the mid level MW's who stepped up to fight Roy Jones early on....someone had to sign the contract and I respect that always.

Plus it went for the FULL 10 Rounds, which many other epic fights like hearns/hagler did not despite being great fights too. Having the will, determination, heart to throw bombs and punches with bad intentions for all 10 rounds is superhuman. Theowing as hard in rounds 9&10, as they did in rounds 3&5 etc. Epic war by two great Warriors with a capital “W”. 👍👍

What a tremendous interview by Teddy. He "gets" what Micky was as a fighter and is as a man and brought that out of Micky with his questions and memories of watching him in action. Was lucky enough to meet and talk with Micky last year when he visited Newcastle and got a pair of his boxing shorts on my wall. He was as genuine a man as he comes across in the interview. A gentleman warrior who is humble enough to treat everyone with respect. A true great. RIP Arturo, Mickey's spirit twin 💪👍🥊

I love Teddy and Ken's work with this podcast but they clearly didn't know what to do when Mickey Ward said he was a victim of child abuse. I love boxing but that was the most significant thing said during this hour as it explains one of the most recognizable traits in Ward and other boxers, the ability to push through unimaginable hardship and pain, a glimpse into the mind of a fighter. Sugar Ray Leanard also had this in common and talked about it openly multiple times, wish they would've explored the subject a little more as Ward clearly didn't have a problem adressing it. It's something than can haunt a person for life, such a brave dude for talking about it. Wish him all the best.

Ward was the ultimate blue-collar fighter. He was always the underdog. He was always humble. I think he had 4 matches picked as the fight of the year. He wasn't a showboat or a big thing for the media. But...how many boxers have had a movie made about them. Mickie Ward is one of the greats in my opinion.

I hired a nit wit to cut the bushes in front of my house the day of Gatti - Ward 1 and the dumb f cut the tv cable wire coming into my house.so I never got to see the fight in real time. But you know what, even though I know the outcome it still gives me goose bumps watching it now years later. I can't imagine how good It must have been live.
