July, 14th, french national day. We celebrate that every year with a competition of traditional dances. One village represents each district, there are group dances, individual dances(male and female) and traditional chants. This video was filmed in 2011, it was the 50th anniversary of Wallis and Futuna as a french territory, quite a big event ... The lady dancing here is from Haafuasia, Hahake, she got second place :) Sorry about my english, im a little bit "rusted" ^^ Hope I was helpful :)
Oh your English was just fine :) Thank you very much for explaining to me. It was just such a beautiful dance to see and the image quality really captures the colours and expressions of all the people Vinaka vaka Levu and thank you very much again =)
Iam so proud of you guys still keep the original dance, my concern is the camera crews they don't know how to make the video right .they need to focus to the dancers .not to the back of the people .the viewer once to see the faiva n mako not the people malo
Bula Vinaka from Fiji, I was wondering might someone be able to explain what the dance was for? I'm quite curious about the culture of Wallis and Futuna
Every year we did a cultural dance competition between the 3 districts (Wallis Kingdom) or the 2 kingdoms (Futuna) to celebrate the french National Day, yes we're french.
