I love the Astrea, all the subtle little changes it has to the Exia, another personal favorite, and that red looks so good. Extra points for having a sick as hell face mask
The Bazooka is from the GN-XIII. In source content Fon Spaark would gain a hold of those Bazookas by raiding Federation weapon depots to even massacring squads of GN-XIIIs that had them during the events of 00 Season 2 in 00I. Fon Spaark would also raid CB's abandoned depots for weapons and supplies as well to which is why it has all sorts of different weapons and equipment from all sides of the fighting. The box art features the 2nd Astraea Type-F. It was remanufactured in a Dark Grey color scheme by the Innovators to take on Fon Spaark after he went rogue with the F2 towards the latter part of 00F. Once that batch of Innovators were defeated, Fon Spaark would ditch the F2 back to Chall (Astraea's original pilot) in favor of the remanufactured unit that he would repaint in the Type-F's colors to resume the fighting on his own. Now, the MG GNX-III can actually use the Bazooka itself if ya got both kits. I outfitted mine with that Bazooka to be more source accurate and have even taken pictures of it to prove it can be done since not a lot of people got MG Astraea and MG GNX-III on them.
I've only built the NG Astraea, because I love how simple it is and detailed even though its not MG quality but in 1/100! This might make me want to get MG ver just because of the weapon varieties.
The Astraea Type-F is such a nice design, I wish I had pre-ordered it when it was around but nearly 80 for an MG Exia (base) with seemingly no frame improvements in 2022 is... something. I wish they would've updated the frame slightly for this release, but I know the MG Exia is still fine as-is, I just know I'll be doing some custom work for those legs to remove the problems in the near future. Also, 00 Lore-head, you were right in that all of the weapons on the bottom were new and Astraea-specific. The Astraea was just the prototype Gundam that came before the Exia, the prototype GN-Sword being just the sword without the built-in rifle being one bit, and the additional F waterslide markings are the pilot, Fon Spaak's, personal emblem- one of the very few 00 Gundam pilots, let alone characters in general, to have one.
I find this even more cooler because it resembles a Celestial Being in pilot suit mainly the helmet with black visor. Imagine coloring it blue, it becomes Setsuna itself. 😁 If coloring it green plus with Proto GN Launcher, it becomes Lockon Stratos Astraea. 😎
I got this for my brother as a gift a while back, worth every penny since I know that he loves this hobby. I’m kind of considering to get this myself because the normal Exia is a little meh, but more weapons and new color scheme sounds alright to me. Great review!
I am a huge 00 fan and I love the Exia and the Astraea. I got the upgrade set to make the RG Exia the Astraea. I also have the RG Type F. Not only that I named my tiny cat Astraea.
Perhaps you can answer this, but I am building this kit (again) and I am unsure of how the decal that goes in the GN drive is supposed to be oriented. Either way seems like it would block the light. Overall, I really like the Astraea. It suffers a little from being based on an old kit, but is still amazing. The only bad thing about it is the fact it has so many weapon configurations that I can't accommodate them on the kit! Oh, BTW, for those that have this and the Avalanche Astraea parts, the GN Beam Rifle CAN be used with the Avalanche Astraea, you just need to rock the wrist forward and the forearm plug will go into the ports.
There's a metal inner frame available now for Exia/Astraea MGs. Should help with the ankle issue I would think. Such a slick design, I love the F type colours personally but I'm a red suit person.
There's a 3rd party parts set by Susan model that gives the MG Astraea parts from the Exia R4 and Metal Build style shields by SLJ if anyone is interested to add more to their Exia/Astraea.
I snagged this from the last p-bandai drop that had it. It's just been hanging out in my backlog but I think you just moved it up a few slots with this video.
a clip is a small skeletal frame that holds individual rounds, usually a small number of rounds, with certain types of clips multiple can be linked together to form a chain of rounds akin to an improvised belt-feeder. (though i assume these are less common as I'm having trouble finding examples of them outside of one video game that lets you modify a clip fed weapon into a chain fed weapon. though there are some places seem to refer to the individual links in belt and chain feeds as clips so that would suggest its based off *something* irl). A magazine is a spring-loaded stick, box, or drum, that holds multiple clips worth of rounds, or an entire belt of rounds. the confusion comes form the fact that early video games used the word clip in place of magazine, because it was shorter and memory was at a premium back then, and the habbit just stuck after that stopped being a concern.
That's not where the confusion comes from. Clip has been misused in place of magazine for a hundred years now. Things happened before you were born, crazy, I know.
Clips and belts also do not go inside magazines. A clip is used to charge a magazine. Clip attaches, push down on the rounds, it charges the mag, clip gets reused. The m1 garand used a device called an en bloc that held 8 rounds which was inserted into the box magazine with the rounds but it served a purpose, acting as the walls and guide of the magazine.
thanks both for the feedback! at any rate, whichever term I use I think most people can see what I'm showing and know what I'm talking about even if I used the wrong word. For me, the important thing is the model kit.
@@willrichtor there are some box mags that are literally just a box with a flip open lid that has a belt inside it, that variant is what i was referring to there, i didn't mean to imply they all worked like that, sorry.
Hmm, without looking into it more carefully I would say no, you're probably missing a few pieces especially for the head. But you could get pretty close
This is one I had in my cart but decided against. I have no idea why but maybe the price was too high:( same thing happened with the Mk V. Won't happen again though!
I noticed that this Gundam has multiple variations- both the white one and this one. And if I'm not mistaken they eventually even had them outfitted with that Avalanche armor. So any MG kits of the Astrea that aren't already out may get releases since they've made this one.
It got a unique Avalanche kit as far as I could tell from my box, it seemed to be the entire Avalanche Dash unit + a buncha new plates to give it a unique look.
So really worth it for all the extra options and everything? My only real gripe is with design and ironically not liking Seed aside from Astray much - shoving Astray into 00 is just such forced fan-service that doesn't really fit into the story whatsoever.
I think it looks a bit better in person. Unfortunately it was hard to color correct the video to make it look exactly right but I got it as close as I could.

yeah Astraea type black, basically there's 2 Astraea type F

If I recall, the RG white Astraea was a conversion kit to use with the RG Exia while the F/F2 was a full kit

Astraea is Exia's older brother that went off and had it's own adventures and is too cool to be in the spotlight
sister
Older sister. Or maybe more like mother since they aren't the same generation
nope more like predecessor, Exia is based off Astraea lore wise
I really love this Aesthetic of Gundam along the lines of the Testament. Shame both of them are P-Bandai because they are just hyper gorgeous.
I got this for my brother as a gift a while back, worth every penny since I know that he loves this hobby. I’m kind of considering to get this myself because the normal Exia is a little meh, but more weapons and new color scheme sounds alright to me. Great review!

Absolutely love that blood red colored plastic. Thats doing something for me haha

It does suck that you have to spend even more money on a third party fix for a Bandai engineering issue.
I'm still sad there's no MG Exia 2.0, man..
there's also the black versions of the Astraea which are available as Metal Build figures so far.
There's a 3rd party parts set by Susan model that gives the MG Astraea parts from the Exia R4 and Metal Build style shields by SLJ if anyone is interested to add more to their Exia/Astraea.
I'm waiting for a MG Devise Exia pack before I take that plunge.
I've got that set along with Susan Model's Astraea Type X Finsternis.
Metal frames for them now too
Giant Boomerang not included?
Aw snap, built this a little while ago. Considering painting it in the Astraea-X type colors, but can't see a good way to do the clear purple parts.
I snagged this from the last p-bandai drop that had it. It's just been hanging out in my backlog but I think you just moved it up a few slots with this video.
This is my dream kit! Hope to get one of this soon. Cheers!
this was even better with the metal inner frame from iron create
This can be a candidate for a ver ka treatment IMO.

The Susan Model Type X Finsternis has all the weapons too.
Ty so much i needed ur review on this
Man, I wish I could find this kit. So hard to find it without paying inordinate shipping costs.
I kinda want it tbh. I have the hg which is pretty neat. But on the fence about the exia frame
on the bazooka its a magazine
Hey, I have this one on the pile
Please review aswell the avalanche dash add ons for astrea and compare it with avalance exia
Sorry to say that I won't be reviewing that!
I have that and it's just a recolor of the one from avalanche exia dash MG
can you fit one of the 00 LED units in the chest piece?
Yes, of course! 👍
@@ZakuAurelius sweet - couldn't be sure looking at how the back and front were built.
Huh, swear this came out like over 10 years ago, but it was April 2022. Weird.
Do the Avalanche' unit
can you make a red exia out of this?
Hmm, without looking into it more carefully I would say no, you're probably missing a few pieces especially for the head. But you could get pretty close
The Orks are going green from watching this mechs weapons
the rifle and shield can combine
unfortunately that's only for RG
This is one I had in my cart but decided against. I have no idea why but maybe the price was too high:( same thing happened with the Mk V. Won't happen again though!
oof passing on the MkV was a fatal mistake! Hope you can snag one if/when it gets reprinted!

you forgot the type black and type x fins
They made this, but not a exia 2.0
Pretty cool
Hope in the future you put a ranking system on the kits, nice review
It's either good or it isn't
Astraea Christmas edition lol
This kit proves that there will be no MG exia 2.0...
So really worth it for all the extra options and everything?
My only real gripe is with design and ironically not liking Seed aside from Astray much - shoving Astray into 00 is just such forced fan-service that doesn't really fit into the story whatsoever.
wdym?
I really dislike the red here. As a certified Exia enjoyer, it just feels off.
I think it looks a bit better in person. Unfortunately it was hard to color correct the video to make it look exactly right but I got it as close as I could.
I imagine @typefhobby170 watching this over and over
OI! HAHAHAHA
Still planning for the build video 🤣
