I just did it with an attached camera. Instead of a "Mickey", I used my knuckles of my hand to hold up the sled, ballanced the battery. Trimmed for static, then gave it a spin and it was perfect!

Phil, If your monitor and battery systems are co-planar, pretty much any technique, like the one you describe, will work just fine. If you are inclined to raise your monitor to a better viewing condition while maintaining a long post length for top-bottom balance, you'd be advised to look further into dynamic balance techniques.

@@steadivision thanks, alas I can only afford a Steadciam Pilot. So my monitor will have to stay where it is.
I've been planning a video on the chicken egg paradox of the Steadicam. How do I afford to buy outright a G70X arm and exovest, let alone an M1 Volt without erning the money with an M1 Volt in order to practice to become good enough to earn money to buy an M1 Volt?

@@overkillphil514, the Zephyr is a fantastic rig. My first was a Flyer, and I worked my way up from that. Have you seen the M2/ G50x/Zephyr Vest combo Tiffen is doing now? It’s an amazing deal.
