    To me, the contraband cache should be things you could trade or sell. Not necessarily weapons and ammo, but vice items. Booze. Candy. Medicines. Toys for kids.

    Well, you’ve divided it from the rest of your goodies, but you took your phone with you. So you did leave a digital trail.

      lol , you beat me to it by a minute. also be advised that most vehicles for years now can be tracked. how? that radio/hands free bluetooth/satellite optional system. even if you don't have a subscription active. figure out how to mitigate leaving that trail as well

      Great point, phones are such an integral part of our lives that its easy to forget you have them on you. Without giving away too much information (saving for an upcoming video) I have a dedicated burner phone that was purchased in cash years ago, has no service and simply is used to store maps, run toolbox style apps and connect to wifi networks when necessary.

    Unlike Florida, in most geographic locations you must consider the frost line if you have anything that might be ruined by freezing. Food for example. And in Florida, if you don't bury food items deep enough they could be compromised by animals such as wild hogs, either intentionally because they smell the items or just by chance as they root around while foraging.

    • @TheSurvivalOutpost
      @TheSurvivalOutpost  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes great points, thats why I've sealed this cache 4x over and buried in a location where I haven't seen moles or rooting from hogs. still..we'll see how it turns out, going to check on it tomorrow.

      The other issue is flooding. A few others who've used such sealed caches have had them surface due to flooding.

    Problem with graveyards, is many markers/headstones are lost with time. An entire family buried their loved one in spots that are not indicated as to rest in peace. I stay far away from any disturbing of said grounds. It's sacred and off limits 110%

    What are ways that people identify their caches (hypothetically, as we don't want to give away anyones' secrets and excluding paper maps)? EG remembering that you buried your goodies 6 steps west, and 12 steps north of that really distinct tree is great, until a forest fire ravages the landscape and destroys the tree. GPS is useless after an EMP strike, etc, etc...
    I remember watching (I think it was) "The Killing Fields" with a Vietnam Veteran who at one point totally out of the blue says "booby trap", and sure enough the kid in the movie stepped on a land mine shortly afterwards. He said he saw the way the bamboo stalk was broken and knew it instantly what was going on. What are some ways that people could potentially mark their traps that are meant for something other than "stupid" animals?

    • @TheSurvivalOutpost
      @TheSurvivalOutpost  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great points. It’s vital to determine the lifespan of your cache and then check up on the location from time to time. I use landmarks and shallow burial to make the process of location easier. That works great for short term caches.
      If it’s a longer term cache then it’s a good idea I’d say to bury the cache on your property or someone you know and trust

    • @DarthIckus
      @DarthIckus ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheSurvivalOutpost I use landmarks and natural rock formations, etc whenever I hide something, but it's been a long time since I have had to. I don't own property, and don't know anyone who does but there is plenty of forest land nearby. I think the golden rule to keeping your stash safe is to not tell anyone where it's hidden, unless they've proven their trustworthyness not to blab, beyond any doubt. Your videos, and your responses are awesome, man. Thank you!

    Regarding the caching videos you did at the beginning of 2016, did you ever retrieve the cache? Is there a video of that retrieval? There are lots of videos on packing and placing a cache, but precious few on cache retrieval - finding the cache and how well the items in the cache survived.

    • @TheSurvivalOutpost
      @TheSurvivalOutpost  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great question, I had to move from that location kinda unplanned so my retrieval was botched and rushed. I could NOT find it. Dug and dug and dug.
      Which is why I now don't bury stuff 6 feet under. The ground can shift and the cache and move over time. Just way too much effort and clean up unless you are burying something large and something you don't expect to have to retrieve unless its total end of the world type of event.
      This time I changed my tactics and retrieval will be much easier.
      I"ll actually be checking on it tomorrow and might be tempted to pull it depending on the situation. Its been there for 3 months now...who knows.
      Either way you will see a video on retrieval and unboxing.

      The moon might be the best option. However I know places in the Deep South that are isolated and very sparsely populated
