I really like the way you break down cliche advice like "do more interesting things". It's easy to hear that, and not really know what to do with that. But with a little practice at storytelling, and doing things that break from your routine, it really does give you more ammo to fire in small talk. I really like your example of trying a new dish at a restaurant because it shows that it doesn't have to be something big like taking a dance class or travelling to another country in order to be interesting. It also highlights how doing the same things over and over and not changing things up can lead to not having anything to talk about.
