Excellent presentation. I think the last three or so decades have been a golden age in English cathedral music. I have been fortunate to have been involved in it as a long-serving lay clerk. I have to say I am pessimistic that age will ever be quite recovered. There are significant obstacles and forces arrayed today against such a thing. I hope at some point you will cover the excellent work Dr Andrew Lumsden has done at Winchester.
Thank you for this video, and Happy New Year from a South African church musician. I began my own training as a chorister of St Thomas’ Church in Fifth Avenue, New York, under Gerre Hancock. I was Assistant Director of Music to George King in Arcadia, Pretoria, for 14 years. At present I am very pleased to serve as the Director of Music of Bloemfontein Cathedral, where we are completing the rebuilding of the organ. Anyway, it is a privilege to watch this discussion between three of the finest musicians in the Anglican tradition.
What a great way to start 2025 by watching and listening to a video of three great English church musicians whose work proved a great influence to so many individuals.
I so enjoyed this cozy chat, and am fascinated by the location. I could easily have listened to another half hour!

Wonderful presentation. Dr Barry Rose is looking so well for 90 !
I could have listened to at least another 20 minutes! Fascinating discussion. Thank you.
Your wish is my command, says Rob the producer! Episode 2 coming as soon as I've finished adding the polish 👍
Great to hear memories of dear Garth Benson and Redcliffe. Thank you. John Pryer.
