I hope you had a great Christmas guys. I'm feeling better now! I've uploaded the Boss Katana sounds I used for this video onto my Patreon. @@bloxsy_ Those basslines are so well crafted it's ridiculous, and yet it was the drummer who got compensated more, just because Rourke didn't want to make a big fuss about it. Now Joyce is certainly a competent drummer, but if I were to compare how original his parts sound compared to Rourke's basslines, it is not much of a contest.
I love this band so much, Marr is a top tier guitarist. Some Girls, Stretch Out, Still Ill, Last Night I Dreamt, That Joke are all amazing guitar parts too, I just love how dynamic and fluid his playing is, like a guitar wizard
You deserve to have so many more subscribers, seriously any guitarists or indey/rock'n'roll lovers should subscribe. Every video you do is excellent. The best taste music and great to see so many amazing guitarists and bass players songs bought to life.
Johnny Marr has written so many incredible guitar parts and you've brought the best of them all right off the bat - I still remember how astonished I was the first time I listened to What Difference Does It Make. I'm sure there is material to make a second video but this is such a nice selection. Just thought of Girl Afraid and Barbarism Begins At Home, to say the least. Congrats as usual, Bloxsy! And happy holidays!
Thank you. Yeah It wasn't supposed to be as short as this but I didn't get round to finishing it. Definitely worth exploring more Smiths tunes in a video, well worth learning for any guitarist. Happy Holidays!
It's the timing which is the most confusing bit. I'm thinking of doing a breakdown of it because the tutorials I've seen don't exactly make it clear either. Even if it's just for my sake so I understand it better!
Merry Xmas Bloxsy. Y'know the first thing that attracted me to The Smiths was their electric guitar sound, Johnny Marr knows how to paint a scene with his playing, using effects just on the right dosage, and playing just what he feels he needs to. Even if he isn't a virtuoso, he is still clearly technically efficient, and that makes it so that his simple stuff is tasteful, and his more intricate stuff is well constructed. Good riff selection as always, though I wish you had included "You've got everything now", still a good selection, you never dissapoint. (Appreciate the inclusion of Headmaster Ritual). Also I was right when I said you would use this jazzmaster well, that axe can really groove. Cheers
@@ConjuredUndeadalthough I’m not a big Smiths fan, their catalogue is easily up there with the Velvet Underground, The Beatles, The Cure, and Radiohead.
First of all,Merry Xmas for everyone here. And second,we have some rumors that The Smiths will Return for a Reunion Tour or something. What you guys think about that?❤🎉
@@MsValdenor é complicado 😂 Vi apenas rumores sobre mas nada especulado de verdade. Até porque o Morrissey é um protestante bem irado das ideias. Nunca se sabe o que eles podem fazer sobre.
Excellent job! Many of Johnny Marr's riffs are really hard to play and as others have said, he's massively underrated as a guitarist. Been ill myself too. Get well soon, Blox! Merry Christmas and a happy NY to all!
I recommend it. I got slightly obsessed with the band a few years ago, still love them. Johnny Marr is a great resource to expand your electric and acoustic guitar repertoire.
Ever since I watched the 14 The cure riffs video ive been waiting for this one. You definitely nailed a good chunk of them and that charming man was pretty close, nice job!

I like the fact your videos don't have "top" in their titles. I think it's better approach, no top is perfect anyway.

these johnny marr riffs are just lovely, but also show how important andy rourkes f sharp bass lines were to the smiths as well
True. Playing these myself I even felt that it’s not The Smiths without the other parts. Doesn’t feel the same.
@bloxsy_ the tone though man, you nailed it!

Johnny Marr should be considered a guitar god. His riffs are so weird and cool. Merry christmas and get well soon!
Thanks buddy! Merry Christmas 🎄
He is widely considered a guitar god especially in alternative/indie spaces
he is considered one and he is
He’s also pretty good in Electronic
Man, Smiths songs are HARD, and you nailed 'em. Feel better and have a great holiday season!
Johnny Marr’s riffs are bloody great. He was the specific reason I actually wanted to buy a capo.
'This Charming Man' is probably the most magical, inspiring song I've ever discovered.

Wow, props. This Charming Man is not for the faint hearted!
I struggled with it to begin with but once you get your head around it, it's quite easy.
@@bloxsy_This Charming man is a difficult riff to play to be honest. I covered it last month and it took me a million tries

Thanks for Your Guitar🎸
Jonnhy Marr criou riffs e melodias memoráveis uma pena ser tão pouco reconhecido como guitarrista
Gotta be one of the most complex rhythms you’ve pulled off, Bloxsy matey. But bravo la!
That Jazzmaster ain’t half gorgeous x
Thank you. Yeah the rhythms here are tricky.
that's a gorgeous guitar
You should do some Fall Out Boy riffs, I would really appreciate it.
I'm waiting for the Jesus Lizard riffs
Nice, as always, great tone. Incubus riffs someday please? Happy holidays to you 👍
Yes it's possible. Merry Christmas
The tone on 'The Headmaster Ritual' is AWESOME!! can you tell what guitar and specs you're using for that one?
Thanks! It's a Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster. Fender AVRI pickups and tremolo. I did a little video on it a few weeks back
Very nice, 👏.

You physically cannot play the Smiths on anything other than a jaguar🌚
Why not? They did!
@adamtick no no, please think of it the other way
Not a single smiths song was made on a jaguar
Les Paul's are perfect for playing smiths songs, so are rickenbackers
This is a Jazzmaster though
