We are behind many other Western countries in education not because there isn't enough of it but because half of US parents are openly anti-education (whether history, science, math, etc.) and anti-teacher. They abdicate their own responsibilities as parents in nurturing and disciplining their child but at the same time tie the hands and gag the mouth of teachers to do anything about it. American parent: 'I want my kid to get quality education but I don't want to have to pay taxes for it. My kid should learn to be a mature responsible member of society but teachers must never discipline my little angel. My kid should become smart and well rounded but the school must not teach subjects or topics I don't understand or believe in already myself.'
That’s a well written summation of the current education quagmire. Damn glad I don’t have kids. Would have a hard time dealing with the parents of kids that don’t like real history. I remember half the students in my graduating class got D’s at the end of junior year.
I've never been on: Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Tik Tok, Instagram, Flickr, Reddit, or Snapchat--I honestly don't even know what half of them do. I enjoy TH-cam quite a bit, but my Pinterest account has been seriously neglected for some time. Being an introvert sure does save me a lot of time.
