My ex used to come to my job almost daily for lunch and flowers. Sometimes had them delivered. The spontaneous trips, gifts and just spoiled me like you couldn't imagine...I had no idea he was a raging, pill popping, cheating, habitual lying alcoholic that was psychologically and verbally abusive. A total Jeckyl and Hyde personality. In hndsight, the red flags were everywhere.

The thing is, that they come off so charming and "harmless" that some people dont think twice about having them around their family/kids. But this is not only with kids. They tend to help themselves to whomever they please (in-laws, spouses best friends, etc.).There are no boundaries in their world. That's why everyone, especially women, should learn the technique of extreme vetting before letting someone get too close.

I'm hooked. I only glanced at the thumbnail, and for a second I thought that was George Clooney. I have to watch the rest, even though from the title, I know it ends badly, I really want everything to work out for her.
People judge so harshly this kind of behavior: “so many red flags”, “how did you allow it to get this far”, “it was so abusive, why didn’t you just leave”. If you haven’t been a victim of narcissistic abuse, it will indeed be hard to understand and easy to judge, since it’s a whole process, but you can only see the very top of the tip of the iceberg in a 1-2 hr documentary, that’s nothing, there’s no way someone could understand with just that amount of time. Also, the worst but most common combination is a vulnerable person with a narcissist, and it’s not a coincidence is the story that keeps repeating itself.

I really wanted to call her stupid for falling for his lies when I saw the first episode because of her career as a journalist. Journalists are really good at smelling BS from a mile away.
