The original song for Carousel of Progress at Disneyland was "It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow," but since General Electric did not want customers to wait for a great big beautiful tomorrow before they bought their products, they changed the song to "Now Is the Time" when Carousel of Progress opened in Walt Disney World in 1975. In 1993, the Disneyland song "It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" was reinstated and replaced "Now Is the Time" in Disney World. Do you remember the song "Now Is the Time?"

I have some Disneyland and Disney World gems on VHS that I've been uploading onto this TH-cam channel. More to come. Glad you appreciate this version of Carousel of Progress! Thanks for watching!
The nostalgia is overwhelming to me.. I can almost smell the air in there.. my entire family would have that song in our heads for a week after going there.. Even as a kid, this was my favorite ride(I guess) at Disney…
I’ve been to Disney World probably 20 times and have never been on this ride. We always say we should go on it, but never have time. I can’t believe this was recorded almost 40 years ago!
You should definitely see it. I’m curious to find out what you think of it when once you seen it in person. I love it! However, I’m totally aware that this may be largely because of nostalgia.
Very nice, and yes, I do remember this version (in fact, I never saw the "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" version). Maybe everyone knows, but you might have mentioned that both songs were composed by the Sherman brothers. The song's actual title is "The Best Time of Your Life" (according to Wikipedia).
It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow was the original from the New York World's Fair and Disneyland. When it got moved to Walt Disney World, it got changed to Best Time of Your Life since General Motors came to the realization that they did not want consumers to wait for a great big beautiful tomorrow before buying new appliances. Then in the 1990s, Disney World switched it back to the original, which is what we hear nowadays. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for uploading this! It's very rare to find complete video recordings of the COP at WDW when it still had GE sponsorship. That was dropped sometime in 1984 since GE was by then sponsoring "Horizons" in EPCOT and that necessitated some edits to the soundtrack that removed references to GE (though references to "a new company" remained). That final version of "Now Is The Time" is the more common version (even the archival audio tracks released by WDW reflect the final edits without the GE references).
Glad you enjoyed it! It's a time capsule for sure. People are usually in one camp or the other as far as liking this song or "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow." I actually like both. Thanks for watching!
This is how I first saw it, so it seems totally normally to me, but I can imagine it must feel really weird if all you know is "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow." Thanks for watching!

This is amazing footage! Excellently filmed, especially for the time.

I heard this version first back in the 80s. The "old" one that became the "current" one is the "new" one to me.

They should have dressed Dad in a Members Only jacket, and Jr. in parachute pants. The 80s were great.
Like, for sure. That would have been totally rad!
This is decent quality for 1983! You must’ve had a really good camera and took VERY good care of the media when storing it!
