I think we already saw the truck break the law a few weeks ago when one ran the red arrow on a left turn at an intersection. In California, one can cross a solid white line provided it is safe to do so, but the traffic traveling next to the line has the right of way over a vehicle crossing over it. Pretty much the same as a vehicle physically changing lanes over dashed lines.

Right next to the 101 Freeway that connected the San Fernando Valley with Hollywood was the custom vehicle shop that created it. The frontage road, Ventura Blvd., was not too far off the 101, and the lot in the back of the shop went right up to the fence separating it from the freeway. You couldn't miss it if you were traveling from the Valley to Hollywood. It was parked at the shop and was a landmark of sorts for 2 or 3 more years.

    • @vonkarolinas
      @vonkarolinas ปีที่แล้ว

@Nsmithq99 No, Tesla does not get a special exemption. You are forgetting that these are Release candidates. They are not licensed and registered the same as production vehicles. All auto manufacturer's are assigned a manufacturer ID. Tesla's is 63277. They have plates with that and a secondary serial number that get put on all release candidates. They don't have to go on both the front and the back, that is a state by state regulation. These are still under the federal thumb at this point.

Ok to be fair I didn’t get down that far in the video.
I was paused at 2:02 talking about the wires on the front bumper.
I posted my thoughts before I even saw your comment but go to that time and it makes sense.
It looks like the same truck with RC on it. Yet I’m sure there are more than one? Maybe?
The black wire it to open the front trunk in the event the battery can’t do it electronically because it’s dead.
The red and black wires are to “jump start” the truck enough to turn the main computer on and maybe bring the truck to be able to open the front trunk or let the truck slowly crawl up the tow bed.
I’m a fanboy ngl but I like to catch details like this since I make my own electronic monstrosities lol.

Normal companies use a test track for that. When they were flipping over the Baby Benz, Mercedes wasn't killing people downtown to do it, it was on their test track.
Tesla regards human lives as simply a commodity to spend in chasing profit. As shown by the fatal early release of their 'Autopilot' garbage where they used injuries and a minimum of 18 proven fatalities to alpa-test the system.
For the rest, see this channel. So many videos of corporate fanboys crashing because they use the autopilot.

  • @SilverXTikal

At 2:02 you can clearly tell it’s just a prototype still.
The weird black wire thingy at the Frunk is essentially a Bycicle Brake line to pull in case the truck dies and they can’t get the Frunk open electronically.
The black and red wires are a way to charge the truck enough to open the Frunk electronically. Maybe even enough to drive in crawl mode onto a bed of a flatbed truck.
People hate Tesla and Elon for petty reasons.
If I were in his place I’d put prototypes on the road with the same type of manual backups hanging out of it too.
Try everything and see what helps in real world situations no matter how dumb it looks.
If it looks dumb? There’s a dumb problem people run into and this is how we test ways of fixing it.
Trial and error but in a bit picking world.
Much respect to them for not even hiding it.
