I did once listen to the weather forecast that predicted a complete washout, so opted for a Zwift ride, only for the rain not to arrive and the sun shone all morning. Since then, I never trust a forecast and take a punt, suit up and ride! It always works. Better to be out anytime than regretting not going!
Today I cycled Cheddar Gorge and also passed through Charterhouse - it would have been fun to have bumped into the Mendip cyclists. You also stopped outside my friends house, near Dundry, in Littleton Lane by the flooded ford. Should I have been there, I would have invited you all in for a cup of tea and dry socks! After riding through a deep flood in Shipham Lane near Sandford, I ended up with wet feet too!!! Another great vlog Darren, keep up the good work - I always enjoy the Mendip humour.
Thanks Paul! I have no idea which flood was the Ford as there were so many of them, it could have been any! Although I must admit, it was pretty awesome to put on dry socks after my shower 😊
There's a point in every wet ride when you say out loud "What the heck, I'm wet already" and just ride through everything 👍 1 ride in and Del's already angling for a new pair 🤣 Love the quieter feel to this one Darren👍
Del has a long wish list, she’s only just bought the Wahoo after saying she was buying one two years ago. By the time she gets around to buying some new shoes, this pair will be as worn out as the old ones!! Thanks Mike
First ride in a while for me too, around the levels for coffee in sweets cafe, mega puddles everywhere, but so good to get out again, was MTB in forest of Dean last week, same..but muddy, still great fun Hope ya on the mend Darren, cheers
It was definitely wetter than I’d expected. Good one you for getting out, it’s very easy to stay in the warm and dry when it’s lashing down outside. Thank you, I’m feeling a lot better!
@@DarrenPhillips Dartmoor was very wet, and even more windy but amazing. As 100ks go it was equally as hard as our Exmoor day for different reasons. Can't wait to go back on a sunny day with the vlog crew! 😀
You need Gripgrab gaiters with winter boots to stop water from getting in through the top of the boot. Just make sure your socks are not going above the gaiter or the water will be wicked in by capillary action. Having said that, the conditions were terrible. I'm sure you would have got soaked no matter what you did! Luckily, skin is the ultimate in waterproof gear. Well done guys!!!😎

@@DarrenPhillips The gaiter forms a tight seal around the ankle skin and runs over the upper part of the boot. Rain will get through the leggings but the seal between the skin and gaiter is too close for water to run in between the two. It runs onto the gaiter and down the outside of the boot. Everything fails eventually if the weather is bad enough but the gaiters and mudguards work together to keep my feet dryer for much longer.........what you don't read in the reviews is the sweat that forms between the ankle skin and neoprene gaiter!
Thanks Pete, it’s never as bad as you think it will be, you always dread riding in the rain, but in full winter kit, the only exposed parts are your face, so you don’t really notice it until your feet get wet. I’m still not 100%, but getting better every day as time passes. Thanks for asking!
Both Del and I had mudguards on that day, it was just Pete that didn’t. We do use the drops when we need to, but usually when we are filming, we’re just chatting and riding relaxed. The drops are when we are motoring a bit and need to get aero.
Another great vlog. Plus del has finally changed the shoes 😂. She should have stayed with the old shoes on that ride 😂. Hopefully I can get out on another ride soon

Great miles! We could only manage 30 today before the booza lured us in… however we did swim thru most of the Deverills!! Mammoth task by you guys to get those miles done…👏🏽and no Welsh swearing!!

What's wrong with mud guards and why do you all have drop handle bars when you don't seem to use the drops, just asking?
