I remember this group of older men who used to come to a communal sauna on a lake, where I worked at for a summer job. They came almost every day and spent a lot of time there bantering, swimming and going to the sauna. I would imagine the existence of a place to gather and enjoy the sauna together played a not-insignificant part in their well being. Btw, if you decide to build a sauna of your own, be sure to get a Harvia stove 😉
