I'm sad you guys didn't get to the Kennedy School (the old elementary school turned brewpub/movie theater/hotel with multiple bars). It's awesome, you would have LOVED it. Maybe next time! Also, you should totally consider a road trip around Oregon, up the coast if nothing else.
I just found your channel by stumbling upon your UK cornwall vlog. You guys are awesome. You've got a new sub. Your enthusiasm is infectious, and I'd love to see you come to the UK again some time :D
Love that you are near my neck of the woods! We live an hr north of Portland. I've been binge watching your vlogs for 3 days! Best travel vlogs I've ever seen. Love them! Please go to Hawaii as we are planning a trip in a year or so.
I have read the alchemist .. and its such an inspiring book .. honestly i like reading more than listening .. i recommend u guys to read all paulo coelho books cause they r simply amazing And u guys r just perfect ... i love u both and love ur videos .. wish u be happy all the time
I used to live a few blocks from the Cinemagic. Good theater. The Bagdad, about 15 blocks eat, is run by the same people as the Kennedy School and is also worth checking out. Division Street has developed a significant restaurant scene in the past 10 years or so. You landed in a good part of town.
Aah, 'The Alchemist', a great book. I also enjoyed it. It's more than a travel book, but it inspires you to breakout of your comfort zone, and embrace the unknown through following your heart, and opening up to serendipity. A fun book is 'A Year in the Merde', about a British guy who moves to live and work in Paris, France. It's his comparison of the differences between British and French attitude to work, and how he has to adjust to French ways.
Here's my take...if something that has existed virtually forever hasn't gotten to be a popular food by now, chances are it's really not that good to eat. Not that you shouldn't try it, mind you, if you're "adventurous," ;-), but likely it's not going to be a delicacy... just my 2 cents... Safe travels, Adventurers!!
Yup. Can't disagree. I am just saying that it is perhaps a very acquired taste and not likely going to be considered a "delicacy" by many people (even "escargot" - snails, aren't embraced by a lot of folks). By "good" I meant "really considered yummy by most people," not necessarily life-sustaining (which it likely is). Someday, I'll be trying them just to see what I'm missing. :-) Good comment, Roy-thanks.
I loved The Alchemist! I bought it in an airport in China and finished it in 2 days (and those 2 days were FULL of travel). Every spare moment I had, my eyes were on that book :) I love Audible, too though.
This one was great. Love your bizarre sushi grasshopper cricket experience :) so much fun. Alaska? GREAT. We are Kim and James (Treasure Hunt Traveler's)
You guys should read William Dalrymple's In In Xanadu: A Quest. Its about William Dalrymple going on a trip along the silk route Marco Polo took to meet Kublai Khan in Xanadu, Mongolia.
Audible recommendation. Ken Follets “Pillars of the Earth” and “Winter of the World” trilogy’s, both display incredible insight in to European medieval and world wide 20th century history as relates to an interconnected bunch of families, both very long, 45hr, but amazing:) Could not eat that locust!
We hope you enjoy this goofy food day! Get your 30 day FREE trial of Audible at audible.com/theendlessadventure or text theendlessadventure to 500-500, and be sure to recommend your favorite audiobooks below so we can check them out!
Hey cool you’re coming up here to Alaska! I can give you some restaurants and stuffs if you need any pointers if coming to Anchorage! Btw one way tickets to/from Seattle usually run around $99 in the next month or so because jet blue comes back in spring.
"Here's to the butt." Ha! Best sushi cheers ever. We're in Portland for a weekend soon as we're absolutely adding this place to our list! It looks so much fun!
Try to find "infinity welcomes careful drivers", then "better than life". Both scifi, both extremely funny. Author is Grant Naylor btw. Another book worth getting, if you can find it is "the lunar men", that's historical fact telling the story about a group of pre Victorian engineers, scientists and industrialists. That book tells the story of how the industrial revolution was started, and is actually alot more interesting than it sounds. The men it tells about were all genius in their field, and you should of heard of several already btw.
good GOLLY! Your facial expressions and laughing! My favorite audio book (I used to have an hour drive to work) "Nobody's Baby But Mine" So silly I had to actually pull over I was laughing so hard. The reader is fabulous! I also love Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, again very silly and a great reader (starts with One For The Money) For more serious offerings "The Constant Princess" historical novel and The Shell Seekers...you wont be sorry!
I have a feeling you were going to go to Kennedy School. You guys missed out!!!!!!!!! Next time you come go to the Kennedy School! It’s such a cool place!
Love love the alchemist for sure. And if you love the alchemist, you have to read the little prince. Read/hear the book before watching the movie. Movie is on Netflix! Let us know if you like it :)
You didn’t go to Porque No? on Mississippi (best ceveche and margaritas ever or to one of the food trucks spots? You’re killing me! PopRock Sushi...you’re killing me! Blue Star donuts....the best! Voodoo Donuts....tourists trap! Stumptown Coffee...Portland’s Blue Bottle!
I've started 'prepping' for a time where I envisage insects being the only viable source of protein. Having to take baby steps, but I know that I'll at least have a few years to work my way up to the real thing. Currently, I'll put some dried ramen into my mouth and crunch really quickly (while pretending to gag for added authenticity). The next stage is to eat gummy worms, and then I'll be ready.
it's portland. they mastered vegan over 10 years ago. even 10 years ago, you could literally throw a stone and hit any place and they'd have amazing vegan. and you should go to new seasons....that's a pdx staple that people outside of pdx don't understand. 10 years ago i was getting my vegan cake there by the slice. enjoy....
I just added the Alchemist to my book cue. ☺️ Reading Life of Elizabeth l by Alison Weir. I’m very excited about the doughnuts. 😍💕😘❤️😘😋 doughnuts. Did I mention I like doughnuts.
Sorry! 😳 Ain't no way! Adventurous food for me is wild boar in Germany or pickled herring in Denmark(which I find truly gag worthy)! And, Jo is even less adventurous. Does this mean we can't be friends any longer?!?
I won't be disparaging about the Barnham qualities of The Alchemist; instead, I note in crime fiction Audible have Ian Rankin, and would send you this way for top Scottish noir
lol y'all faces while eating the grasshopper rolls tho'! Hilarious. I am relatively adventurous with cuisine but those were a bridge too far for me. I think it would be the texture thing,.
Hey Michael! We try to do a mix of everything, but we can't always afford to do fun activities. And since we have to eat, it's just always fun to try new foods and incorporate it into our videos. But we definitely try to incorporate adventure and nature as much as we can! (tons of that coming up btw after Portland 👍)
Sounds great am looking forward to Portland and understand the budget is not endless too..good point, I thought your stuff in the UK was really excellent btw ... made me want to explore my own country lol .. , thanks again
Guys I'd like to add to Michael's comment about the England trip. The editing and content were spot on, and made me want to watch loads more of your vlogs. Both my wife and I are from the U.K. and I was just telling her the other day, that before we do our (mid life) 'gap' year, when the kids are at Uni, I want to make sure we visit almost the whole of the U.K. before we do The rest of Europe and the other continents. It's a sad fact that most people who live in the U.K. have only been to a few places in their own country, but tend to visit 10 x as many places abroad. I'd kind of like to exhaust my local options before I venture further. I have this strange conviction, that there is this one perfect meadow in England, which will satisfy me completely. I just have to find out where it is, and with the love of my life - I'm sure we'll find out where it is! Enjoy the adventures together. Daniel.
Eating that grasshopper doesn't look enjoyable AT ALL!!! Why bother??? I get the novelty of trying them in places where they are actually eaten like Mexico or parts of Asia, but spending money on them in the US, when you don't even enjoy them, is just wasteful to me. I agree that RunPee.com is an awesome resource! I NEVER go to a movie without checking it out on RunPee.com FIRST. It's a relief knowing I won't have to wait two or three hours with a "Thirsty-Two Ounce-r" looking for an exit!
I admire your dedication to providing us with entertainment but man that was disgusting! That crunch was so off putting, haha. Loved the video though :)
And now can we go back to the vegan place, please? Seriously, though, why did you even order that cricket? You both looked rather disgusted! That was kinda funny, though. Grossly funny...
We definitely agree with the sentiment! We're just not big readers ourselves and books add a lot of weight when traveling, so Audible is great for us. But if you are a reader, definitely support the local book shops!
Love this one although go go above and beyond eating the grasshoppers, no more please, that turned my stomach ps please cut Bach with the word super before the event
eric will eat grasshoppers but not onions lol
Lol, that's so true! :p

Love that you are near my neck of the woods! We live an hr north of Portland. I've been binge watching your vlogs for 3 days! Best travel vlogs I've ever seen. Love them! Please go to Hawaii as we are planning a trip in a year or so.

Long time supporter of Audible!
Woohoo great to see Matt again need more of him with you guys and Alaska omg i can`t wait for that!!!

What plugin do you use for the overlays?
What I do now is eat before I watch your vlogs. Stops me drooling.
I have read the alchemist .. and its such an inspiring book .. honestly i like reading more than listening .. i recommend u guys to read all paulo coelho books cause they r simply amazing
And u guys r just perfect ... i love u both and love ur videos .. wish u be happy all the time
Alaa Shello your right about Paulo I just read his latest spy book,
I used to live a few blocks from the Cinemagic. Good theater. The Bagdad, about 15 blocks eat, is run by the same people as the Kennedy School and is also worth checking out.

I loved the Alchemist! Recent likes are Tucker's way and the Silent Child. Love you channel!
Priceless faces ! We'll never stop watching !

JGMDSN 66 in Africa and Asia grasshoppers are a every day food heavy on the protein, note some are even kosher and halal

Grasshopper sushi....you're a braver man than I Gunga Din
I loved The Alchemist! I bought it in an airport in China and finished it in 2 days (and those 2 days were FULL of travel). Every spare moment I had, my eyes were on that book :) I love Audible, too though.

I have never heard of Runpee!! Omg where was that when going to movies was still allowed (for me) haha that is the best. Saved for someday
The Alchemist was amazing! Made me not only want to have more adventures (I already travel quite a bit) but want to read more by Paul Coehlo!
You guys should read William Dalrymple's In In Xanadu: A Quest. Its about William Dalrymple going on a trip along the silk route Marco Polo took to meet Kublai Khan in Xanadu, Mongolia.
Great stuff! When are you coming to Australia?

I just had a vision of you two traveling with a cute kitty on your shoulders... a new member of the Endless Adventure?
I nearly passed out watching this.
Hey cool you’re coming up here to Alaska! I can give you some restaurants and stuffs if you need any pointers if coming to Anchorage! Btw one way tickets to/from Seattle usually run around $99 in the next month or so because jet blue comes back in spring.
hi guys love your channel so much.....u guys are amazing. love all the stuff you do keep up the good work and wish you the best of luck.😘😘😘✌✈
I love the fact you love food...videos like this should never be made by fussy eaters.
Yay! Hope you guys enjoy my home!! Pok Pok wings is a MUST. Swerve on voodoo and go for Pips instead, and check out the vegan "mall"
Grasshopper sushi.....yuk! Once tried Nutella on Salmon sushi, gave me Salmonella!
Hehee

Your faces told me enough to give those a miss.
I have a feeling you were going to go to Kennedy School. You guys missed out!!!!!!!!! Next time you come go to the Kennedy School! It’s such a cool place!
OMG You're in my neighborhood!!! I'm in the Creston/Richmond neighborhood and now I think y'all might just be down the road from me!!!!
You guys are brave, I love sushi but I wouldn't eat that for sure!
I need to try those with the Pop Rocks
I just couldn't try them, you're so brave. It's the crunching 🤢.
Alison run made me laugh soooo hard lol
Love love the alchemist for sure. And if you love the alchemist, you have to read the little prince. Read/hear the book before watching the movie. Movie is on Netflix! Let us know if you like it :)
I have all the volumes of "The Harry Dresden Files" on Audible.

At 14:14 I had the urge to say "ssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

I'd try the Grasshopper sushi however, I really don't think I'd enjoy it - like I'd most definitly need something else after as a 'propper meal' LOL!
Cute video, but your knock on the local bookstore is painful.
Cute, goofy and crazy ! 😎
it's portland. they mastered vegan over 10 years ago. even 10 years ago, you could literally throw a stone and hit any place and they'd have amazing vegan. and you should go to new seasons....that's a pdx staple that people outside of pdx don't understand. 10 years ago i was getting my vegan cake there by the slice. enjoy....
The only snag is they don't sell meat.
Makes me sad that people don’t read paper books anymore.
I just added the Alchemist to my book cue. ☺️ Reading Life of Elizabeth l by Alison Weir. I’m very excited about the doughnuts. 😍💕😘❤️😘😋 doughnuts. Did I mention I like doughnuts.
need a chaser with that grasshopper
Ha ha - how's the AirBnB? We've got the exact same one booked for a few days in May.
No way, that's awesome! It was great actually 👍Cats everywhere!
Hey love your content!
Thanks!
You need to go to Apizza Scholls. Phenomenal pizza.
OMG. I could not do what you do with food. Every time you eat insects it grosses me out. Wow. I admire your strong stomachs!
Sorry! 😳 Ain't no way! Adventurous food for me is wild boar in Germany or pickled herring in Denmark(which I find truly gag worthy)! And, Jo is even less adventurous. Does this mean we can't be friends any longer?!?
I can tell you guys have been watching a ton of H3H3 lately. Lee and I are always quoting our favorite sayings from them. LOL #vapenaysh
To be honest, we're completely obsessed with H3H3, it's pretty much all we ever watch anymore 😂
Alaska??????? WOW.
Nice
I won't be disparaging about the Barnham qualities of The Alchemist; instead, I note in crime fiction Audible have Ian Rankin, and would send you this way for top Scottish noir
Funny 😂🤣😆!
well hi Matt!
I am an avid eater of shrimp but I can't wrap my mind around eating bugs. It's just dumb acculturation but...
Haha, not sure, if we would have eaten this :D
Ummm.. RUNPEE TIMES! How did we not know this witchcraft? #gamechanger - T
Just about to make vegan sushi as I'm watching this.
😄🍣
Now that's funny :D
lol y'all faces while eating the grasshopper rolls tho'! Hilarious. I am relatively adventurous with cuisine but those were a bridge too far for me. I think it would be the texture thing,.
Love seeing all the places you travel to, really interesting but lately it is all just eating and drinking ..is there nothing new ?

Blue Star Donuts. Made with yeast. Hope you include them. Voodoo is over rated.
Alison should have grabbed that cat - police would have believed it was hers because the hair color is the same :)

I don't listen to audiobooks. It's either ebooks or paperbacks.
Maybe try some soy sauce with your grass hopper next time?
Welcome to China for your amazing trip
WHY make grasshopper sushi? Why not put a turd in a tub of ice cream?
😂
You can't polish a turd
Which implies that you can polish a grasshopper. That sounds vaguely zen
And now can we go back to the vegan place, please? Seriously, though, why did you even order that cricket? You both looked rather disgusted! That was kinda funny, though. Grossly funny...
Not the vegan place!!!!
The only good thing in “I Tonya” was the actress that played her mom
🍱👍
BOOOOO you should ALWAYS SUPPORT INDIE BOOK SHOPS! ALWAYS! ALWAYS! even if you listen to audiowhatever.
We definitely agree with the sentiment! We're just not big readers ourselves and books add a lot of weight when traveling, so Audible is great for us. But if you are a reader, definitely support the local book shops!
had to look the other way when you ate the GRASSHOPPER so crunchie Yuck yuck yuck
🙈🙈cricket?seriously?why I feel a little bit "EW...."or it's just shaped like a cricket?
Did they pay you , or did you pay them !!!!!!!!!!
Love this one although go go above and beyond eating the grasshoppers, no more please, that turned my stomach ps please cut Bach with the word super before the event
Hopefully not Voodoo Donuts. Over rated unless you're stoned or a 5 year old
Rather you than me
Here's to the butt - Allison, 2018
Why would you intentionally eat something that disgusts you. Oh yea for likes and thumbs up. So cringe.
Pet stalking again I see. Boo ; I would rather actually read a book.
That was nasty!
