We are looking at adding one of these units but I am trying to figure out if there is a way to also trigger the fresh air ventilation when turning on our range hood for our stove. Either by an additional pressure switch or wiring in a relay with the vent hood. I want to maintain the capability to control scheduled ventilation with my thermostat.
Thank you for contacting AprilAire. Would you mind giving us a call to discuss your installation? We would be happy to assist. We can be reached at 1-800-334-6011 Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT.
does this help cool the house by bringing in cooler air at nights so the AC does not run all day (pretty much like a weak whole house fan)? How long would it take to cool the house by 5 deg at 190 cfm?
Thank you for contacting AprilAire! We do not have information about our ventilation systems being able to cool the home. This would be a question for your local HVAC contractor, as they may be more familiar with this type of application. We recommend using ventilation to bring in fresh air to make the home fresher, healthier, and to meet ASHRAE building code standards. If you have any additional questions, we can be reached at 1-800-334-6011. Thanks again for contacting AprilAire.
That’s a lot of air to push into a house without controlling how the "dirty" air gets out. First is pushing warm, moist air through the gaps and cracks, including around electrical boxes, into the outside wall cavities. This is a tremendous concern in cold climates and will cause major rot issues. Second is the heat/energy loss without an exchanger.
Hi Steve - Thank you for contacting AprilAire! If you are using our Model 8120X ventilation controller with your Model 8140NC, then installer mode can be entered by holding the Select button on your controller for five seconds. If you have any additional questions, we would be happy to assist. We can be reached at support@aprilaire.com or by calling 1-800-334-6011 Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT.
Can this system be installed into a home without an HVAC present? Like mounting the unit to an exterior wall depth duct and the feeds into the home? Similar to a LunosE2
Thank you for contacting Aprilaire! We recommend installation to an HVAC system. The unit can also be installed as a standalone unit without connecting to an HVAC system. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us at support@aprilaire.com or by calling 1-800-334-6011.
Thank you for contacting Aprilaire! The 190 CFM brought in does not exit the house all at once. Most of our ventilation equipment puts the home under positive pressure, so the air forces itself out of the home through small cracks in windows and doors all over the home. A positive pressure home means that it only goes out those cracks, and all the air coming into the home is fully filtered and conditioned before it reaches the living space. We would be happy to discuss this further with you and answer any remaining questions. Would you mind giving our expert support team a call directly at 1-800-334-6011? A Customer Service Agent is available to assist Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT.
Hi Martin - Thank you for contacting Aprilaire! The square footage being referenced at 8:39 is the total of the home. If you have any additional questions, we'd be happy to help.
Charcoal filters help with most all issues and is proven, and regular systems and re-heat if you want high tech solutions, All this is just for more expensive system options Over all at the end of the day it does the same thing as are old engineers designing Just more money
Chris is the best! Another fantastic product from Aprilaire.

Hi, we’re you able to find out? I’m looking for the same type of setup for my kitchen.
Do you connect it to the return duct before it goes through the coil and furnace?

It’s not designed for that type of use. It’s designed to keep your house in a positive pressure and keep moving fresh air through your house
