My college got hit pretty hard by hurricane Helene. No power, cell service or running water. I got out recently. It was interesting to hear y'all say that "How are you doing?" is a nothing question. It certainly used to be, but for the last week or so it's been a real question, and an in-road for people to spread news via word of mouth. Probably because now that people answering "good" would be seen as strange/untrue, everyone was able to answer it truthfully. Then it could be followed up with "they're giving out water here", "this person has a generator", or other such information.
All i really want to ask most strangers much of the time is. “Really?!?” Followed closely by “Why?!?)
