- Hey friends, Alex here, I walked around Esplanade 1 and 2, and boy was it so satisfying. The abundance of plants in the middle of the city is just refreshing - feast to the eyes.
The brick pavement, the reflection of light on the river's surface, the wind blowing, tree branches waving, the bridges. People walking, jogging, and fishing. Lovers holding hands, laughing, looking at each other's eyes, and those sweet smile. The Ilonggo accent. All of these. Ay ambot! I love it!

Watching this video from the Northern Hemisphere, one gets this surreal feeling of a clean and picture-perfect city in the south. And somewhere in time, the late Queen Isabela of Spain once pointed to her advisers, aides and persons-in-waiting, as she she gazed at the cartographic sketch of Las Islas de Filipinas, and exclaimed with certainty: "Esta es la ciudad muy noble ....... La reina de las ciudades del Sur!" And today, in this day and age, this visual experience transcends the usual conception of the old and traditional Filipino city with all that smog, squatters/ informal-settlers, living under the bridge or along the railway tracks, traffic, pollution, etc.-- endemic in such a milieu.
