Kari ayam, one of my fav dish. this episode is awesome. Roti kirai is true, even some malaysians call it roti kirai. Kirai is a malay word after all.
PS: Rachel please dont stress when having to speak bahasa melayu, we will still be proud of you even if you're wrong, at least you know more words than some so called Malaysians.
Saya rasa bm logesh makin baik mungkin anda telah " recharge" atau cas balik kemahiran berbahasa anda setelah kembali dari Malaysia dan begitu juga Rachel.
Betul di Singapura panggil Roti Kirai dan Epok-epok. Karipap ada juga digunakan untuk those flaky karipap india/bhai yang rectangle/triangle shape yang dimakan dengan sambal yang cair.
Di johor pn masih panggil epok2 dan roti kirai.. cuma general di malaysia je panggil roti jala dan karipap..
Betul di Singapura panggil Roti Kirai.
Aku org Taiping... Kawasan sini kirai pun boleh... Jala pun👌
Kat Kedah pun panggil roti kirai.

singapore n johore ada persamaan, some of us especially orang2 lama panggil roti jala as roti kirai and karipap as epok-epok.
In spore we call roti canai sbg rroti prata
In Msia roti canal, In Spore roti prata
Roti jala ada tambah tumeric powder and hasil crepe tu akan digulung… yes di singapore panggil roti kirai boleh juga dimakan bersama kuah durian… even karipap pun ada bnyk jenis… ada yang inti bihun, inti su’un, inti telur rebus, inti kari, inti kentang, inti sardin, macam2 jenis lahhhh 😆
Di Johor pun kami sebut roti kirai...
Karipap bihun? Sumpah?

Karipap is the Malay-nised pronunciation of curry puff. So epok epok - used in Singapore and Johor - I should think is a more "pure" Malay term than karipap 😂
Epok-epok berintikan sayur, manakala karipap berintikan kentang, keledek, ayam, daging ataupun sardin.

selain dari nama2 makanan yg agak berbeza.. penggunaan kata kerja (verbs) pun sedikit lain kadang2.. saya selalu terpesona dgn penggunaan perkataan 'lekas' insteaf of 'cepat'.. 'bilang' instead 'cakap' or 'beritahu'.. p. ramlee old malay filem adalah contoh terbaik bahasa melayu singapura..
another question for elly & other singaporean.. do u guys guna x expression 'jalan tegak' instead 'jalan lurus', just like johorean.. pelik betul dengar mula2.. but now dah biasa.. but still tersenyum juga bila dengar.. 😊

Yes, Elly mentioned the Singapore names of the same items of Malaysia. Just like comparing the the same item in Malaysia vs Australia or any other country - same same item referring to, but differently called. I'm from Penang Malaysia... We called roti jala as roti kirai. Roti jala tu more to Southern side or KL/Selangor
Jala means "Yala", a town in Southern Thailand that shares an international border with Perak, Malaysia!

Yes in Singapore it is called roti kirai. Usually we put a bit of serbuk kunyit in the batter to give it some colour. Also there are some differences between bahasa Melayu singapura and bahasa malaysia. I suppose it is similar to the differences between American english and British English, mostly in vocabulary. There are some videos on youtube showing the differences.
