  • Couch grass is a marvellous plant that has a very long history of uses to help with a variety of health ailments. Although you wouldn't add this to a salad as is, there is a way to eat it!
    I am sorry for not being able to slow the video down so you can read the information Culpeper said - please just pause the vid! For more information see the links below:

    Another wonderful video. People who see my garden ask if I am a weed gardener, or a vegetable gardener. My reply is "Both."

    New to your channel Karen! Great info. Do you know what anti ancient grasses grow in Alberta. I read some that the reason ranchers in Alberta are saying that the wild horses damage the grasses.

    Some dogs eat grass. I wonder if they instinctively know how certain grass can heal them . Thank you .God bless you

    • @EdibleWildFood-1
      @EdibleWildFood-1  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      "Ruffage" (sorry - I had to spell it that way!!! ) Anyway - they need fibre to have healthy stool and if they lack fibre in their food bowl they will seek out grass. Also - to help calm a stomach - often, like cats, they will eat it, the cack it up!

    • @mariagillinson8527
      @mariagillinson8527 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m thinking there are some sort of minerals or something ruse than just ruffage as they seem to always target grass there’s many other weeds around! Thank you kindly

      They eat it as a fiber. This irritates their stomach, and they vomit. This is their way to cleanse

    Karen, that chemical in that grass might be Cacodylic acid which is an arsinic acid. Johnson Grass has a lot of it, and it is dangerous if eaten by livestock. Is your "couch grass" Elymus repens?

    • @EdibleWildFood-1
      @EdibleWildFood-1  ปีที่แล้ว +2
