Hey Luke? I'd like to get your advise on an arsenal for Nationals 2022. I am a high rev bowler with ball speed between 15.5 to 16.0 mph. Here's what my line up so far looks like. I plan on. Ring six balls... 1. Black widow urethane 2. Black widow pink urethane 3. Pitch black 4. Plastic spare ball 5. Phaze II I need one more ball to finish the line up. I currently have the Zen, IQTour solid, hammer web tour, idol pearl, idol pro and the black widow 2.0. What balls do you recommend I should take considering the conditions of the 2022 USBC teams and doubles and singles shot? I'm really undecided on what will be my sixth ball? Solid symmetrical or pearl symmetrical? Your advise is truly appreciated.
That's a whole lot of urethane and then one strong reactive ball, I'm not sure you need both of the Black Widow urethanes, but I don't know your game so maybe you do. I'd take the IQ Tour or Idol Pearl probably. If you like smooth stuff and are going to need control, I'd go IQ Tour, but you might think about the Idol Pearl if you want a compliment to the Phaze 2 when the lanes start drying up.
Luke, Looking to build my 3 bag ball arsenal for league play. I have the Phaze 2 and OG Hyroad (thanks again for your recommendation). I would like something in between those 2 balls. You think the Idol Pearl is a good fit to fill my arsenal? Maybe IQ emerald?
Daniel Q Might have just been an unflattering layout, most demo balls are drilled pin over the bridge, which should make them sharper down lane, but depending on how new the ball was, might not have reacted very good. This ball should be really good for the vast majority of people so I’d bet on it either being a brand new ball or just not the right layout for you
I have a slower ball speed around 14mph. I have a 2 handed style still working on getting my revs and speed up. would this ball work well for me? I was also looking at the Roto Grip MVP attitude with the HYBRID cover. thanks
So I got my first ever bowling tournament tomorrow, and I am struggling to decide which ball to start out with, the crux pearl, or the Phase 2, what do you think I should start out with, and what moves should I make over time?
It all 100% depends on the condition and the reaction you're seeing, every bowler has to go through this. Throw a few different balls in practice, see what looks best and where it looks best from, and keep striking until the lanes tell you to move.
Would this ball be similar to the og phaze? I remember my Phaze being a bit earlier but able to get down the lane easy without missing the break point. What ball currently is like the Phaze
I remember a video a while ago where he said that he doesnt show pictures of the layouts because they are different from person to person. 5x5x3 doesnt always mean pin down/up/whatever. It was a video about a year ago I think. He gives you the numbers though.
Yeah, Corbin has it right. I did that before but it just confused people, because they'd see where my fingers were drilled at, then go get their ball drilled with the same finger placement instead of the same layout, and wouldn't always get a very similar reaction to what I had. Layouts are based on your positive axis point, and it's the layout that tells you where to drill the fingers, the finger placement doesn't really give you much if any information at all depending on what your pap is. I know people like seeing it, and Storm actually wants me to show them because people like them, but there were too many people that got mad about spending a couple hundred bucks and using "my layout" and then not getting the same results I did, and of course that's not what they thought the reason was . . I MIGHT go back to doing it but I'll have to be pretty clear about things. Might actually make another video explaining it
@@stormb28 That was from my original review years ago when that ball came out, that was for my first one, and the new one is drilled differently. I didn't quite have enough footage to fill the whole video out, or I out talked my video lol so I left it in there as kind of a throwback.
Love the review. Rolled my first 300 with this ball
Love this in depth review
Great review, looking at building an arsenal for league... As always Thank You 🙏🏼
Phase 2, idol pro, idol pearl.
Jace awesome recommendation! Thank You 🙏🏼
Ball is BUTTER!!! except at OOB finish. Stays in my bag!
Your in depth videos are sick, are ya gonna launch a Idol Pro in depth?
David Wilson Yup. Think I’m going to write it tomorrow.

How does the idol pearl match up next to the zen pearl? My idol is getting wore out and I need a replacement.. thx
They roll kind of similar, but the Zen is a couple boards stronger. I think the Zen would be about the best replacement we have right now
@@LukeRosdahl thanks for getting back with me.. ill get a zen and put my idol layout on it and go from there.. thank you sir!
still working mine in. Loving it thus far though.
I want that ball!
You say no such thing as a magic ball but there is a ball from motiv called the hydra. The hydra is a “magic” ball. Thing just strikes forever.
I see your Hydra and raise you a Phaze 3 lol . .
Luke,
Looking to build my 3 bag ball arsenal for league play. I have the Phaze 2 and OG Hyroad (thanks again for your recommendation). I would like something in between those 2 balls. You think the Idol Pearl is a good fit to fill my arsenal? Maybe IQ emerald?
Yeah, Idol Pearl would fit perfectly between the P2 and Hyroad. I'm getting ready to drill another Idol Pearl myself actually
I hated this ball when I first tried it at a ball demo. Is it an acquired taste, or just a motion I need to get used to?
Daniel Q Might have just been an unflattering layout, most demo balls are drilled pin over the bridge, which should make them sharper down lane, but depending on how new the ball was, might not have reacted very good. Interesting. I just found it too sharp off the spot.
Yeah I can believe that, that’s why I drilled another one pin down, and once it got 20-30 games on it, it was a fresh Marvel Pearl
I have a slower ball speed around 14mph. I have a 2 handed style still working on getting my revs and speed up. would this ball work well for me? I was also looking at the Roto Grip MVP attitude with the HYBRID cover. thanks
sorry I currently bowl with a RotoGrip Hywire, I think that also has a hybrid cover I dont mind it
I don't see why not, it's going to be strong for you, but once you get a handful of games on it, it settles down nicely and is one that I use a lot.
Is this ball a good 3 ball after Axiom & phaze2
Yeah definitely, I ran a P2 and Idol Pearl in tandem for most of 2019 and they made me a ton of money.
What performance do you have compared to Vaporzone Solid?
Vapor Zone Solid will likely just be earlier, smoother, and a bit stronger. Pretty good cover compliments.
Should I go out of the box cover stock or should I put something else on it
Yeah, just see how you like it first out of the box, and if you need to change it, you always can
I like it our of the box it has a really nice read
Would this ball be similar to the og phaze? I remember my Phaze being a bit earlier but able to get down the lane easy without missing the break point. What ball currently is like the Phaze
Depends on which version of the Phaze you're talking about . . but yes this is probably the closest to either version.
Can you show the layouts
he says the layout in the intro
I remember a video a while ago where he said that he doesnt show pictures of the layouts because they are different from person to person. 5x5x3 doesnt always mean pin down/up/whatever. It was a video about a year ago I think. He gives you the numbers though.

I only ask because the Phaze II was mapped out.
