Jesus Christ! You are a monster at this game. I used to play a lot, but not this skilled! And you have two Speedruns. Man, bet you think like me: Gex deserves a remake ASAP.
Idk why the death sound always scared the hell out of me as a kid...it just captured the feeling of total and sudden failure so well. I used to even have nightmares with that sound in them xD
this is such an awesome run i have given your video a shoutout in my comment section of my latest video. some of my subs should see it and be amazed at your skill
I mainly need Gex to somehow get killed (or go in another TV) after he activates any TV for a successful TV cancel. To continue tailwhipping on the ground from a TV requires frame perfect tailwhips after the initial tailwhip. I also played it safe such as in “Pain in the Asteroids” if I attempted and failed to TV cancel the “Destroy Fire Crystal Power Cells” TV, it would be run over.
Amazing to see you whip through these so effortlessly. One question; does the Gex community not consider the hidden movies in the 3 secret levels as part of 100%ing? Or was it a PAL thing only?
Thanks :) The Gex community doesn't count collecting the 3 hidden movies towards 100% because collecting them doesn't count towards the percent counter that we see.
@@Reece65536 Ah righto. That's what I figured was the case. Is that timer part of the native game as well? Definitely do not remember that in my PAL copy.
If you are talking about the timer in bonus levels then that is part of the game. There is this other timer where you can turn on by going to the debug mode.
would you mind helping me with some routing choices like if we could skip some platforming sections and do more of those TV cancle glitches to save seconds in exiting and reentering the levels?
Nice videos, those techniques can come in handy in so many places. I can help on what I know. There is this new strat that was found in Out of Toon. You can exit the level and still get the “Hunt the 2 Hunters” remote right when the red remote appears in the cutscene as long as you have Gex stand on top the green button of that TV. I think the fastest 100% hub route would visit Samurai Night Fever and Pain in the Asteroids later on in the run. There are other people that know certain stuff more then me such as Tigame and andypanther. You can join this discord that is for Gex speedrunning and go to the #gex 2 tab. Once you are there you can comment for additional help. discord.gg/0xxv2R7DDPeMSdp2
i would be good to have a route (the perfect route with no major screw ups and every possible TV cancel) handy where i can TV cancel or do even more TAS tricks to get my time down. if you want you can join my discord or skype so we can talk a bunch and you could teach me some tricks and stuff. already done the first 3 remotes of toon tv
I don’t have a mic at the moment but I can join your discord and write up helpful information. Link please? Once again here’s the Gex discord :) discord.gg/0xxv2R7DDPeMSdp2
I don't get why ps1 games looks better than n64 games in every way but resolution. This game has far better textures and models than mario 64 or even a later game like donkey Kong. But the 64 was superior hardware.
Watch the naughtydog documentary about crash bandicoot development, they tell how they made the PS1 do things far beyond what sony thought possible with the hardware/Dev kit. Gex looks like a follow-up to crash bandicoot.
It’s mainly about localization. The original Gex on 3DO & PS1 sold poorly due to how they found Dana Gould’s remarks playing all at once-as such, the game commands a high Asking Price in the European Aftermarket (UK EBay, and so on). In order for Gex to sell in Europe, they had to get someone else to play the character, but with mixed results. Me, I prefer Gould-even though Leslie Philips does a great job giving him class in this game (even though the American version originally envisioned him as a snide, cocky & overly confident in himself, but whatever) The Japanese version (Spintail) I think is the worst. This is due to how the Japanese do not have a satirical sense of humor, they ended up redubbing 95% with the exception of the extra ending & Nikki’s voice at the end of the game. It’s really about preference at the end of the day.
Gex is supposed to be a suave, James Bond type of character. So it makes no sense for him to have this goofy American voice. Danny Jules' voice just suits the character and his lines so damn well.
I used to play this as a kid , and I never and still can’t comprehend how random the levels were
holy hell what a time, going to watch it all right now
I T ' S T A I L T I M E
this game ruined my life as a kid. all i could think of in elementary school was t a i l t i m e

haha, thanks for the kind comment! Yeah, I have been waiting for quite some time for the Gex 4/remake. 🙂
Take a shot Everytime gex says "it's tail time"
I wonder if there'll ever be a new Gex game for the PlayStation 4? Maybe even a HD remaster of the games to celebrate?
2018 20 year anniversary would be good
Gex would say Forget about it!
crystal dinamic only focus on boobs raider
Not as long as Squeenix keeps milking the Final Fantasy cash cow.
They'd need some new lines, and I wonder if Dana Gould would be down to reprise his role
Idk why the death sound always scared the hell out of me as a kid...it just captured the feeling of total and sudden failure so well. I used to even have nightmares with that sound in them xD
Damn you make this game look way easier than it actually is
Awesome run man, nicejob
Thank you :)
I have to agree
Clean run
Great job, you're really smashing out these runs now.
Thanks :D
I haven't seen blasts like this since taco night at James earl Jones house
Dude. With all these remasters happening... Where is my Gex remaster!
Pity this series ended.
awesome i have played gex 2 i love the toon level and scream
I wish I knew what time it was. If only Gex would announce it from time to time.
It might be tail time idk
@@TheArbiter3479 or clock says party time

Thanks for the shoutout! :)
This game sure is beautiful
This game is a fever dream I played this in 2000
I remember playing that scream stage use to really freak me out when I was in like 1st grade
The memorys I had with this game
All of the levels look like an acid trip
that pig/cow boss terrified me as a kid.
I wanna hear a debate between Gex (Gex) and Mcree (Overwatch) over what time it is.
Every time they disagree the argument becomes more intense
I apreciate it man (:
Glad you enjoyed it :)
Should have made a joke about "Croc".
hooo ya, itstailtime
Just curious, why don't you just TV cancel on certain opportunities to TV cancel? Like for example on the "Storm the Castle" remote in "Fine Tooning".

@@Reece65536 Ah right debug. I meant for normal levels. I've played through these games quite a bit over the past 20 years but never seen that.
That is interesting.
please may i use your route for my lotad i am going to make for this game?
Yes :)

i uploaded a video. well its not too useful and i can think of any places to apply it

How come Gexs has 2 different english voice actors?
It’s mainly about localization. So even when you 100$ the game it'll still show 98%?
Yes
:O
wat abot sea sane
That level is only on the N64 version.
oh
you know i kinda wish i never traded this game in
you taught me the ''get remote die restart'' trick btw
noo this is the terrible voice actor. Oh well not going to let that ruin my viewing experience good run!
yeah i rather the PAL versions voice actor that that amarican comedian errr yuck like he isnt even that funny.
Gex to me will always be Danny John-Jules in the PAL PS1 version of Gex 3, all these other voices really don't suit the character IMO.
that's some pretty shit taste you got there.
Just went and listened to the other voice actor, he's terrible not even remotely funny. Sit down
Different strokes for different folks, it's why I put 'IMO' at the end.
