    A great refresher, this OG (73) needs these refreshers. Always use the same tape to measure everything on your project.

    Tip, stop allowing you tape to crash back into the housing your rivts will eventually weaken and fly off, use your finger as a brake as it reatrcts back in.....longer lasting tape........ Keep up the good vids!

    Well I learned something that I can take to work and use angle iron and c channel and that's how to find center. That was pretty good.
    The one thing that was driving me nuts throu the whole video was the slamming of the tape closed. I hate that as eventually it throws the measurement out of whack. The more you slam it the more pressure it puts on that blade to rivet waiting to wallow the whole out.

    I do this fulltime and I learned a few things. The solution is to always toss the Pittsburg tape measures. I had at least 7 or 8 of them at one point as the freebies, none of them matched up and were close.

    I was waiting for you to show the 3,4,5 square procedure.

      @PenaltyBoxWoodshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what that is

    • @mightyporky
      @mightyporky 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PenaltyBoxWoodshop Oh I am sorry, short answer is any derivative of 3,4,5 can be used to find 90 degrees. on any plane, say use 30 inches across and 40 inches at 90 degrees and it must measure 50 inches between the two points. works with feet or inches, never tried anything else. very handy when you do not have an instrument or even s real square. Hope my answer is clear enough to understand. Nice video you have keep teaching , you are good.

    As far as the dividing board in half, you said what if you have a board 7 5/16" then you showed us your method using only whole numbers (8,10, 7) you never showed us using your way how to find 1/2 of the 5/16". Anyway all the rest I already knew but thanks.

    • @PenaltyBoxWoodshop
      @PenaltyBoxWoodshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The whole numbers will find the half. Doesn’t matter what the width is of the board. You can use whatever whole number you wish with it on the diagonal and it will work! Thanks!

    You say it’s perfect and then you say it’s not exact. I normally enjoy your content but this subject has been exhausted already.

    • @PenaltyBoxWoodshop
      @PenaltyBoxWoodshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Can’t win them all haha. You can get the perfect shape of a circle but it’s hard to get an exact measurement circle. That’s what I meant….

    • @TwoJeremysWoodworking
      @TwoJeremysWoodworking 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PenaltyBoxWoodshop I had been enjoying a drink last night so I did not come off quite as I meant. I appreciate the content, I really do. However I do not understand why TH-camrs recycle subject matter so often.

      Did you watch the video until the end? I actually explained exactly why I did. I don’t care what others do. I am building a platform and channel that has everything for everybody. It was a subject that I wanted to add to my beginner woodworking playlist so I did. It was free to make and is free foe anyone to watch.

      @@PenaltyBoxWoodshop no, I watched the first 3 or 4 minutes and stopped. If I am being honest, I just got bored with listening to what I thought I had already listened to 5 or 6 times before.

    Hi Jesse - I've only recently found your TH-cam channel and really enjoy the way you present things and explain what you're doing. I'll definitely make one of your Mallets when I've finished some other projects and look forward to it. I actually sat down last week converting inches to mm so I knew the dimensions of your Mallets and now this latest Tips and Tricks video about Tape Measures got me thinking - have you ever tried to use a Metric type of Tape Measure? I guess it all depends on what you're taught as you're growing up but when you start talking Fractions of an inch - it sounds over complicated and a system that is very easy to make mistakes. Keep up the great work mate. Regards, Neville.
