    I know this may not sound very impressive to most of you. But I am a total beginner in chess and I’m on my way on reaching 400 ELO thanks to these videos. I’m so grateful for that! I had never played chess before in my life until three months ago. I haven’t memorized any openings. I’m just improving because I’m slowly but steadily absorbing the tactics you explain so well in these videos. My deepest gratitude to you Nelson 😁👏🏻

    Funny, my 1300-1400 (over-the-board) opponents never made the kind of blunders we saw in the last game. They did make blunders, but they were either in the category of missed opportunities, or they required more cunning play on my part.

      Most of my opponents are in such a hurry to make a move. They snap take, even in the openings, when I know that I am making book moves.

    I like watching your videos teaching us how to play chess. Because you are a normal guy. A lot of these chess streamers are weirdos. They don't have any social skills. But you are like an everyday normal kind of guy who plays chess. And you're just honest and real. And, of course, you have a lot of knowledge and understanding of chess.

    It is interesting to know more about the Ponziani ( because I play it ) than the IM who has taught me so much. Nelson did play the position well though which testifies to his experience.

    He remembered his catch phrase at the end of this one! Great video, at first I didn't like the unedited video because of too much dead air, but this one had hardly any of that. Very engaging, thank you. Stay sharp, play smart, and take care!

    My problem is I just don't see all the moves. Even in a 3 day per move format I make mistakes then only see why it was a mistake after I move. And quite often I focus on what's happening immediately in front of me not realising there's something else on the other side of the board. Plus I'm the blunder King, let's not forget that😂

    • @GreenRayJC
      @GreenRayJC ปีที่แล้ว

      Look for tactics, ask yourself what’s the opponents threat and also study positional play. I noticed the more you get really into positional play the less you start to blunder. That’s what I’m working on now. My tactics are sharp, and I usually only fall to tactic, if I’m not positionally solid and understanding the full position as a whole

    what's interesting to me (and i see this in my games too) is the mistake comes early in the game. 2:30 minutes in and the game is gone. in all this speedrun i have yet to see a player blunder for the first time with less than 4 minutes on the clock. it's like once the opponent makes a move, it's a rush to move as well, without analyzing what would happen after my opponent makes a move. and usually it's not a complicated 3-4 move variation, it's taking the time to answer basic game questions: what is my opponent attacking, what is the space left behind, do i have overloaded pieces or undefended pieces, is there knife fork in the air, are there any discovered checks?

      At level elo 1300+, losing a major piece (in this case, a knight…. smallest of the majors, but still….) is going to, in all likelihood, be a loss. So he resigned. Brain fart most likely. Happens to us all. I lost my queen early in a game. So silly. Luckily, my opponent had less experience so I persevered and eventually won, but my odds were terrible at that point. Not bad to admit defeat and resign.

      We need to start a poll and which ever subscriber(s) wins they get to give Nelson a nice neck rub. Or whatever. Have one competition that's based on like a small point (5 or 10) range. IOW someone states he'll have an off game somewhere in the low 1800 hundreds and therefore offer that it will occur between 1812-1816 (a 5 point range). Then do one concurrently that makes use of a precise guess. No range. From there, lots of prop bets could be going on as well. What country will deliver him his first loss? How many losses might he have to endure. Etc., etc., etc.
