Becoming X was and still is one of the best play from start to end albums ever. 6 Underground, Spin Spin Sugar, How Do & this are Sneaker Pimps Masterpieces. Loved it in 96 and sounding as awesome as ever 22! ❤️🎶
Im still pissed they took of Kelli off, though Im not saying they sucked without her, they didnt but they were a unique and special band with her at at a time where no real trip hop had a special identity like this, they just disbanded her like it was nothing though it wasnt nothing. It really hurt the band and the image. I dont see why they couldnt just formed an alternate band like they usually do and left this intact. This album is so underrated and underappreciated and Im so glad others feel the same way.
Indeed. Some bands really took "Quality over quantity" to a whole new level, this Sneaker Pimps album is already worthy a entire discography such as New Radicals only album etc
If anyone ever ask what 96 and 97 sounded like, play this song for them. The vibe is impossible to convey unless you lived and felt it yourself in that decade, but at least we can still hear the soundtrack of it.
This album has always been criminally underrated. But those who know....know. :} It's such a tasty blend of trip-hop, dream pop, shoegaze, and....just really good alternative pop rock. I love how SO 90s the whole album is. It's like Natural Born Killers or The Doom Generation in that it almost feels like it was made NOW....to consciously be thoroughly 90s. But nope, it was thoroughly 90s....in the midst of the 90s, just like those 2 films I mentioned. It's interesting and cool when that happens....when an artist or musician or director taps into the zeitgeist and aesthetic vibe of the moment. It's often not appreciated until many years later....
This song is the intro of one of the best series from Flanders ever... even though the series must be almost 20 years old, but this song still triggers my mind to the series of "Matroesjkas" (in English somthing like Matrioshki, but it can never be valued the same by none-native Flemish speakers)
wanted to just play it in the background but ended up watching this mv I have not yet seen...always mesmerized by Kelli Ali's mouth when she sings and who can resist west Americana themes
Those guys were damned lucky to have hit upon a front-woman not only with a great voice, but with tons of genuine charisma (which is a lot more than just being 'hot'). It's a rare quality and like it or not you need it to succeed in the music business. Firing her for non-essential reasons was a very bad move indeed.
That Corner fellow is an attention whore. He knew people viewed her as the centerpiece of the group. I'm sure he's a capable musician, but he just seems really pretentious.
not underrated at all. this was Huge accross the globe..from highschool students in singapore to the bank employees of Luxembourg, they were rinsing this..well the whole album was a success
Amazing, a real masterpiece. Sneaker Pimps really got me into trip hop and the likes of Massive Attack, Unkle, Portishead, Tricky, DJ Krush, DJ Shadow, HTDA, AllFlaws
Archive's "Londinium" album was released in the same year and was criminally underrated and ignored by the masses. I think that was due to legal issues and contracts. They made it big in Europe but the UK Trip Hop scene missed out on a gem. They remain one of my favourite bands of all time, as does IAMX.
A song I performed to with Fire Hula Hoops. My abusive sister dedicated this song to me (I was born 1990). A very prominent dance headliner seen the video I sent in and I became a professional over night. Fuck EM ALL is what this song is all about.
One of my favorite 80's synth songs growing up and I can remember the first time seeing the video on Mtv at my father's house when I would spend weekends with him those were great memories. Sadly I lost my father in 89 but will always cherish the time I had!
Verdomd ja. Op zich alleen is het al een nummer om bij weg te dromen. En dat het dan nog eens gebruikt word in een Vlaamse serie, bewijst dat de makers hiervan een pracht van een keuze gemaakt hebben. Damn yes. In itself it is already a song to dream away to. And that it is then used in a Flemish series, proves that the makers have made a wonderful choice.
im doing an early mental illness awareness month remember if that someone is diagnosed it doesn't mean their mentally ill. doctors do not just diagnose incorrectly
I prefer the original version of this and the other couple of songs that were remixed and then used to replace the songs on subsequent releases of Becoming X without any indication that they truly are remixes-not that anyone cares, but FYI if you didn't know about this. Do go out and find the original mixes and see what you think! Glad I still have that original CD (although I'd love to have that on vinyl too).... Anyway, Sneaker Pimps, do what you like though. It's safe to assume you prefer the newer mixes, although it would have been nice to indicate as such vs. releasing them with the original titles as total replacements.
I agree. The first version of Post-Modern Sleaze I ever heard and the version on my old CD copy of Becoming X were the original non-remixed / non-orchestral versions and now it's pretty difficult to find those anywhere, all the streaming and other online versions are this one. I still prefer the original mixes over these newer versions, especially the weird samples in the post-chorus / bridge of this track, which gave the song a sort of exotic flair that seems lost now.
I wish they would've used the album version for this video instead of this mix. The strings aren't really doing it for me. Otherwise, I love this video
Becoming X=Top Five Greatest Albums of the 1990s
I'm glad they're uploading the official music videos. Keep them coming.
I miss the 90s so very much. It was such a cool time. I graduated high school in 97.
I was 23 in 1990. Perfect age for the perfect time.

Yup, It still baffles me to this day!
I feel invigorated when I listen to this music. I miss it.
It's post modern sleaze.
Every song is a breath of fresh air. Flows seemingly.

Still an outstanding album. As fresh today as it ever was. Such an influence on me.

well said
listening to the pimps instantly takes me back to that time in my life.
both the good and bad, but all welcome for remembrance.
I was there. Snowboarding was my life then. 🏂🎶
Talk about getting nostalgic. I bought this album and played the crap out of it when it debuted. The 90's were a special time.
90s videos are the most creative ones ever. Change my mind.
The cardigans -my favorite game>>>
Absolutely
Not gonna change your mind. But 80s and 90s were the greatest. 80s were more like expressionism, whereas 90s were more like impressionism.
Kelli is the reason we know about this band. And love this band. Period.
lol who is kelli?
@@ElEcodelTrenKelli Ali, the singer of the band at the time and the girl singing in this video

Still in my disk player
Masterpiece!
I remember a neighbor down the hall describing it as vampire music. Ok?
Masterpiece of the golden age of trip hop 🖤🖤🖤
Have you forgotten about Morcheeba.
Imagine the time of abundance we lived in back then when a band this good and influential could fall through the cracks.
Kelli Alli is a beauty and excellent singer who has fangs like a vampire 🤩😜
BITE ME!!!! 😂😅😊
*so* damn hot ugh 😍🥵🤭
so are Lena fangs th-cam.com/video/lvGwm8CbX80/w-d-xo.htmlsi=cgzNhGn7b7z1OXNH
3:37 my favourite moment in any music video ever. The air guitar, the car passing by, the bubble gun toy, the song going climax. Absolutely perfect
Mate, I'm not far away from agreeing with you. Especially the look on her face whilst doing the air guitar.
Amazing band and so underrated
With 2023 arriving, Sneaker Pimps is Life and Life is Sneaker Pimps.
Still going the strongest as ever, Kelly Ali Forever.
This song is the intro of one of the best series from Flanders ever... even though the series must be almost 20 years old, but this song still triggers my mind to the series of "Matroesjkas" (in English somthing like Matrioshki, but it can never be valued the same by none-native Flemish speakers)
I will never get tired of this album. There are few albums out the that i can listen start to end on repeat. Its fantastic
Sneaker Pimps *FOREVER* 🔥🔥🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
wanted to just play it in the background but ended up watching this mv I have not yet seen...always mesmerized by Kelli Ali's mouth when she sings and who can resist west Americana themes
I could cry knowing what the future would have been like if they kept Kelli

You simp
Totally agree, very dumb move sacking Kelli.
Nah. Chris’s voice is everything. Although I do love this album.
That Corner fellow is an attention whore. He knew people viewed her as the centerpiece of the group. I'm sure he's a capable musician, but he just seems really pretentious.
Pimps 4 Life 👊💀
always got Natural Born Killers vibes from this video
They went backwoods on us for a cool minute huh?🤣
I at was work at Dungeness Power Station when this was filmed on the Dungeness Estate!
One hell of a record, song, and music era.
This is my #1 album of all times (and I like Metal music)
Me too but the essence is pretty much "Heavy Metal" so to speak
Your music is a star in my very cold and dark universe.
Becoming x is so Timeless ❤❤❤
Saw her sing this at the Tribal Gathering decades ago..I had tears running down my face and a big smile. Her vocal performance was on a higher plane.✌️
Such a unique, underrated and timeless masterpiece such as Curve and stuff like that from these times
not underrated at all. this was Huge accross the globe..from highschool students in singapore to the bank employees of Luxembourg, they were rinsing this..well the whole album was a success
Amazing, a real masterpiece.
Sneaker Pimps really got me into trip hop and the likes of
Massive Attack, Unkle, Portishead, Tricky, DJ Krush, DJ Shadow, HTDA, AllFlaws
I am 60 now...but sometimes this music takes me where I want to go!
Those guys' hearts couldn't contain the talent of a woman like K.
I turned 50 in July.... still an anthem in my little sleazy world❤❤❤❤

I knew this was going to be the video you'd release today! 😁❤️ I love this song and video.
🎶 she must be a Thelma or Louise 🎶
Stunning and Extraordinarily Talented Lady. Bless Her.
Kellie made Sneaker Pimps. Sneaker Pimps made her. A beautiful synergy.
Captured my youth in 7th grade. Forever in love with this album, why did they have to let her go? She was perfect.
One of my very favorite songs ever.
first time ive heard a song other than underground. its great. gonna have to check em out properly
Metalhead calling...... I love this!
Being a metal head getting into Sneaker Pimps has got to be a canon experience.
Even Marilyn Manson had to do a collage
One of the most under-rated Bands but alas they are still groovin'
Should do a show with her:) these were the days
It's like mixing Portishead , Tricky , and Alice In Chains into one song
Great song, fun video with some creative editing. I Really enjoyed it. Sad I missed this growing up, but glad I found it now.
I was in my late teens when this came out. Truly was a sizzling hot little number.
The video is a homage to a movie called Natural Born Killers. You should check it out!
Awesome flash back. Thanks
And yet new
Man we have fallen so far musically the last few decades….😢
At least we got to live through this kind of greatness and we can easily revisit it now ❤
Kelli Ali was the vibe of this band. Another great thing destroyed by the ego of a guitar player.
Nostalgia mood
What a gorgeous singer. I ❤ her.
A song I performed to with Fire Hula Hoops. My abusive sister dedicated this song to me (I was born 1990). A very prominent dance headliner seen the video I sent in and I became a professional over night. Fuck EM ALL is what this song is all about.
Somethin about this girl…damn ❤
I was head over heels with their A&R Val back in the day. 😊
Amazing music 🎼
Some weird good times with this song
this vocalist is very underrated, along with the band, they deserved success until today
Kelli Ali underwent a massive makeover. One incredible transformation.
The video is beautiful! Very mystical as always, congratulations guys 👏👏👏👏💖💖💖💖
Another great blast from the past.

But this is from 96
Bring Kelli back and get on the road already..nuff said!
Didnt even know there was a video for this. Great album.
... memories..., marvelous, thanks you... 🎶💜
This Sounds Incredible 💥
This song didn't hit me until it became the intro for the series Matroesjka's. Such a perfect match👌

KIller album. Wish the band could have worked it out and stayed together.
If Mudvayne could set aside their egos and reunite for their fans, the original lineup of Sneaker Pimps surely could too, right?
Metalhead canon experience
FINALLY💙💙💙💙💙💙

Reminds me of “don’t argue” cabaret voltaire… a wee bit
Brilliant.
to be a 90s child
Maybe this chic is a vampire. She looks just like she did in the mid-90s.
My favorite song from you
im doing an early mental illness awareness month remember if that someone is diagnosed it doesn't mean their mentally ill. doctors do not just diagnose incorrectly
I ❤️Kelli Alli
Amazing ❤
Woah I never noticed the boys climbing the metal thing behind her in the field shots!
Corner was F#@ing Insane to let her go. Where are they now??
after watching this, how did they not become bigger and do movies
great drummer
The Best Album of the 1990's (& Kelli as The Perfect Vocalist!!).
😘👌
time travel at its finest.
🖤🖤🖤
In the 90s I had a crush on Kelli and Ladybug from DPs 😅
never ages
Great band, glory days past
Amazing music 🎼
Love that album Becoming X , I miss Kelli Ali love that girl , sexy and beautiful ❤️

Beautiful Song and videoclip
Kelli has her own glamour style
The singer is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen
She so hypnotic I'm in love
I wish they would've used the album version for this video instead of this mix. The strings aren't really doing it for me. Otherwise, I love this video
I really want you to listen to dropz, a unit with Japanese guitarist Hidehiko Hoshino.
It's full of the charm of Kelly's voice❤❤
Thanks I’ll check it out!
