And then you have cats that can recognize the sound of your car a few houses down before you pull into the driveway of your home, giving them enough time to lay in said driveway expecting to be picked up by your human operating said car.
I miss you, Fluffo; your were one of a kind 😞

Cats are very intelligent creatures. It is very nice to see a human making a real effort to understand his Cat companion. It gives one some hope for humanity in general and male humans in particular. We need sane communicative humans of all genders etc. in this very troubled world!

He is good at those. I can't speak cat as well but my cats are good at compensating for my lack of knack when it comes to speaking cat. One way or another they usually get what they want. The little gray cat in the video is so cute with those adorable round eyes. ❤😊❤

Nice to know someone else who speaks cat! Except most of yours are specifically a mother cat speaking to a kitten. They speak differently to humans, and recognize different sounds from humans. My favorite communication is the "Everyone come here and see what I brought for dinner" sound, which is a deep back of the throat rolling chirrup with, of course, the mouth full of dead, or dying, prey!

Or you can train your kitten not to bite or pounce humans by ignoring that behavior, and rewarding them playing with other things, and playing with them responsibly - if you’re rough with kittens, they’ll be rough with you. When they’re grown, it can hurt but it’s your stupid fault.
And so on. I communicate well with all the cats I’ve been lucky enough to live with by paying attention to what they need and like, providing them with acceptable options when they start doing something I want to discourage, and knowing what their communication looks and sounds like.

Right?? And the many, many other cats doing it, too! I cant believe researchers are still trotting out that old “cats cant understand human words “ thing. Wait, no i *can* believe they’re saying that, because takes a looong time for humans to admit the obvious. These cats even combine the words they’ve learned to communicate other things that weren’t modeled for them.

What's the difference between an animal communicator and an animal behaviorist?
And why don't they give advice to vets more often, or why don't vets work together with animal communicator?
