- We Say Goodbye to our Melco EMT 16plus embroidery machine as it's just not what we expected. Our experience with this machine just doesn't meet the quality our customers have come to expect so it's time to make some changes. After talking with Melco we decided to trade in and trade up to what they say, "is the best in the Business for embroidery machines" The EMT 16X Next generation of embroidery manufacturing. Ive had all those problems, got new board several hooks then a whole new machine!! I think my business failed because I wasted so much time with thread breaks difficulty with small letters. Melco has ignored a whole lot of complaints!!! Start training with my new Tajima tomorrow!!
Melco machines are great workhorses. I learned on a Melco EMT 4 head machine back in 2001 and is still running and producing quality stitching. I know most most of the top brands suck Tajima, Barudan, and ZSK build machines that can run up to 1200 stitches per minute. But that doesn’t mean you always should run designs at that speed. Not a good idea. I work with new and older Barudan and Tajima models at the moment and my top speed is usually 700spm. I almost never run multihead machines at max speed. Not a good idea. You will not only wear out your machine, but risk stitch quallity.
And when it comes to single heads, i was never a fan of smaller models. They are great to do samples and small jobs, but for production it’s always better to get a bridge machine.

We are currently using the newest addition to the Melco embroidery machines. The EMT16X & working on filming our full review on those too. I love the older models of Melco machine the XT, XTS, & Bravo but we had nothing but issues and problems with this 16 PLUS machine. The funny thing is, Melco isn’t selling it anymore. I’m pretty sure they’re not telling us something.

Thanks for that as I do plan to upgrade/expand our business. However, we thought it would be a good idea to purchase a remanufactured EMT 16x and so far it has not been fun. I have to babysit the machine because literally it seems like every five minutes I have a false bobbin break or a true thread break. I'm venting at this time because I am on here searching for a way to eliminate this problem. After I speak again to Melco, and find that the problem is not fixed I will certainly be exploring more options. Not having a good time right now...
Ohh no!!! I need to make a video about this. Go into the advanced operating system and at the top click settings then you should see thread timers. Look for the box that say Bobbin sensor and uncheck it to disable it. Then it should work better for you. Just keep an eye on how low your bobbin gets each time you load a new hat or shirt.
Can I ask what Melco gave you for the trade in? We have a bravo and want to upgrade 😊
For a Bravo Machine they told me around $4000.00
Since you've experienced the EMT 16 Plus and X, do you know anything about the new Bernina (Melco) E16 Pro? The stitch engine looks very similar to the EMT series, with the addition of a tablet on the front end to replace the external laptop. Can you tell if the stitch engine is the improved one used by the 16X, or is it the less desirable stitch engine of the 16 Plus? Have you been able to determine why the X does so much better for you than the Plus?

Bernina is a hobbyist machine and nowhere near the build quality of a Melco.
The Bernina E16 Pro is made by Melco, and has the identical stitch engine of an EMT16X.

I asked the national sales rep for Melco before I purchase, and he confirmed it has the same stitch engine.

The small detail issues are due to poor digitizing, not the machines capabilities.
And the type of material used. Not all fabrics are created equal 😁
so the bravo is suppose to be better than this emt 16? or what is melcos "best machine"? i thought it was the emt16 plus
The Emt 16X is the upgrade to the PLUS. I would even say the Bravo is better than the Plus too.
Bravo is the entry level machine. The EMT16X is the top of the line.
Why not Ricoma?
It was seriously considered to switch to Ricoma. I really like what I see from them. I have been closely in contact with another embroidery shop that is using The Ricoma machines.
I am offered such used machine for friendly price as my first one for learnig. Should I accept this offer?
If it the PLUS machine I wouldn’t. Any other version I have had much better use out of. I’m pretty sure Melco buys them back and updates the sewing arm on them like the newer X machines. Working on the new video about that now.
@@ParsonsDesigns Thank You for answer. Emt 16 plus is the model I am offered, it will be better than a plastic Brother machine I hope. I feel that I will take the Plus machine anyway, but thank's for suggestion. I will take it because in Latvia where I live there are no other embroidery brands repairshops, all parts and tehnicians have to be flown in by airplane and I need to pay for it out of my pocket. Only other option is to buy a Brother machine, they have local repair shop and parts accessable, but theyr machine models looked too plastic and not that fast to me, last option is to buy brand new Melco machine, what for beginner is quite costly, so I am out of options. If I will buy and use Plus machine for couple of months then I will write You how it went and what is my expierience. Maybe Melco will sell a upgrade kit. But big thank's for making a critical video, it is important to have such for being able to evaluate products correctly. Today many reviewers tell only cons and leave out cons or downplay them (about 3d printers, cars and all kinds of devices).
@@WILDBEES_LATVIA I would love to hear back from you about it and I pray the plus works better for you. Yes Melco has a sewing arm upgrade that you can probably install yourself. That options was offered to me before we decided to do the trade in. 👍
The Plus can be fine. A lot of what he talks about in this video is fixable with some training. I think a lot of the issue he talks about here is design side (aside form parts that needed replaced)

Hi. Found out 4 years ago that my 16+ was shit and it is what you say, bad in trim. The S-95 knife system from Bernina is shit. And they wont admit it. So, i had to bye an upgrade so now it workes as a 16X. Problem solved. It cost me 2000 $ to fix it. So fuck Melco and Bernina.
Yeah I feel like the 16Plus should have been a recall issue. I get this message a lot. I was faced with that same decision upgrade my 16Plus or trade it for the 16X 🤔 of course this is after years of messing and fighting with the 16Plus that I finally paid it off and now have a &
$24,000 bill to pay over the next 5 years. This goes to show a real lack of integrity on Melos part to hear the customers who use their product. Thanks for sharing

Just trying to save you the trouble I had to deal with for many frustrating years. We are currently working with the updated version of the Melco line. The EMT16X that we will be reviewing too. I am not sponsored by Melco an anyway, I payed full price maybe even more lol. My loyalty is to our fans and all of in the small businesses of, ScreenPrinting, embroidery, designs.
Melco machines are absolute junk in my experience. I bought a three head and they're broken. Literally one of them broke after a month. Been sitting not functioning since then. I'm down to my last EMT16X and this one is starting to go after 1.5 years
I have the emt16x and they're trash. 100% trash
