    I've always loved how the ladies of the 20s dressed but there are so many videos about the era that only focus on the glitzy Gatsby-like costume looks. I'm so glad you went outside the typical flapper look and delved into what would be worn by any woman in the decade. It's also so Downton Abbey and I'm living for it!

    • @Karen-gh8gv
      @Karen-gh8gv 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      And that costume look you mention isn't even authentic.

    For those among you who love 1920's fashion, I would highly recommend the TV show Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. It's a wonderful combination of lovable characters, witty dialogue, a badass female lead, intrigue, creative murder methods, and absolutely gorgeous costumes.

    • @lovemyrainydays
      @lovemyrainydays 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes exactly! I love that show. And it shows both versions - the flapper and the ordinary woman. Not every woman went gung-ho flapper with the flashy makeup and sharp bob since the flapper girls were kinda thought of as "fast" (the whole bad girl thing).

    • @MEVP4499
      @MEVP4499 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And I would also heavily recommend the Netflix original Cable Girls (Las Chicas del Cable) and the movie Chicago!

      Yes!!! I love Miss Fisher! I would love it if she made it into BB of fiction. She rocks.

      chiggenzoup downtown abbey is a good one for upper class fashion. Peaky blinders is a gagster tv show and has more working class fashion. Any thing by agather cristie

    • @victoriansquirrel

      chiggenzoup A little late, but there‘s a german show called Babylon Berlin in which the fashion is depicted very realistically.

    Your ability to own historical looks continues to amaze me. It doesn't matter if it is the 1780's or the 1980's, you always make the make up and hairstyles look amazing.

    I love how you went for a realistic look instead of the cliche flapper look , it's so much more practical even though it's accurate

    I so enjoyed this. My Grandmother who has since passed was a teenager in the 1920s. She told me that she and her friends did not wear foundation. They wore powder, and lipstick. For a younger person that was a lot back then I am sure. She had a very long pearl necklace from this era she passed on to me. My Great Grandma who has since passed of coarse years ago and was in her 20s I remember made Betty Boop lips with her lipstick. She only put lipstick on the middle part. LOL I remember I asked her why she did that and of coarse I never knew it was a 1920s thing. Both of them had finger wave bobs. I loved this video because it reminds me of them. It is so nice!! You did a great job. :) xx Becki

    just like always, you did an incredible work!

    I would love to see your take on old norse fashion. It's not as elaborate as many other eras, but I'd like to see how one handles the various layers and their use of broaches, belts and beads, and translates that into something that wouldn't stand out too much in the current fashion climate.

    It amazes me how you can take a 20’s look and really make it look that good. Very historically accurate and quite stunning. I’m a sucker for old vintage clothes and makeup. The 20’s really rocks for hairstyles . Quite demanding and challenging but well worth it. Awesome. The red lips are so iconic and beautiful.

    Hey Lucy, I would love to see you do a celtic inspired look, maybe before they were influenced by the romans? If there are any good references to be found on that.
    Also early middle ages upper class from Central Europe would be interesting :D

    Lucy, I don’t think you get enough credit for doing what you do. You put so much effort into your videos, and you make it look effortless (even though it probably isn’t, as any work tends to be.) But being a one woman show is tough work, and I super look up to you as a fellow anxious person.

    This was the 1st decade where fashion could truly be called Modern, with women shunning the corsets(Kind of, a bandeau bra kept breasts flattened)The LBD was published in a picture by Chanel in 1926, and was accessories according to a woman's schedule for Work to the Jazz clubs, and has been a fashion staple ever since! The LBD was available for all classes!

    • @charaayars4692
      @charaayars4692 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      why? that seems insane to me. isn't that just a way of appreciating other cultures? I suppose that is like the insane happenings in the US where parents are torn apart for letting their children dress up as Native Americans for Halloween... (I think P.C. police call it "cultural appropriation"). If a little girl admires Sacajawea and wants to pretend to be her b/c of her courage and bravery, how is that disrespectful? I just don't get it! :P

    • @Elemiriel
      @Elemiriel 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally agree... people are unfortunately hyer-sensitive when it isn't necessary and sometimes insensitive when it is necessary... I never understood it but some High Schools here in the US are removing Native American mascots for sports and using random animals and I'm like "So how is it racist that we are cheering for a team with a locally native mascot?"

    This isn’t 20s at all. The hat is not 20s looking at all, I’ve never seen a 20s girl in ballerina slippers, the skirt is too short, the gathers look like they come from the waist, not he hip as they should be, the coat is an hourglass shape, which is also not accurate. Sorry to sound like a hater, but this must only look 20s to someone who doesn’t really know what 20s style looks like.

    • @Loepsie
      @Loepsie  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +hagglemyivan In this series I try to create a look inspired by the trends from a certain time, using what I already have in my closet. It's not reenactment and it's not meant to look accurate. If that's what you're looking for, this series isn't for you :)
