  • ONE-POCKET - In 2022, SKYLER WOODWARD and Canada’s JOHN MORRA matched up early in the Derby City Classic One-Pocket division. Woodward, 28, was the 2019 Master of the Table at the DCC. Morra, 32, was the Canadian 8-Ball, 9-Ball, and 10-Ball champion. But, for both players, this game was One-Pocket.
Mark Wilson and Jeremy Jones will be in the commentary booth.

the quality of the commentary is quite high. Real possibilities are discussed, stream of jeremy's consciousness is revealing, and worth any serious student of one-pocket satisfied.

I thought J. Morra is sponsored by Meucci?

At 29:23, isn't this a foul if the CB and OB aren't tied up? Looks like a textbook double kiss to me.

There is absolutely no chance of a double kiss in this scenario. Let’s say you’re trying to pocket a ball and that ball and the cue ball are welded together (no daylight and touching) in a straight line to a pocket(the cue stick would travel down the centerline of both balls and the pocket to pocket the object ball). Different leagues have different rules. Most all leagues agree the cue tip cannot stay in constant/prolonged contact with the cue ball or pushing the cue ball. Pushing the two balls forward is a foul and still would not be a double kiss. Striking the cue is not a foul in almost all leagues if you are elevated (again not pushing and impossible to double kiss). Shooting straight thru the balls (cue stick level with the table) with a strike/stroke will not produce a double kiss either, it just seems weird because you don’t hear that second click of the two balls making contact. You almost always want to elevate to put draw or backspin on the cue ball to control or keep it on the table. At the derby city classic one pocket division even if there was a slight gap between two balls and you elevate to shoot the benefit of the doubt goes to the shooter due to lack of referees at every table or “hey ref can you come watch this hit.” I’m sure there were some players that abused this rule while in competition, it kind of helps move the game along. Average game can be 1hr up to 2hrs
