Does it Leak? Water Proof Test Of The Renegade Tonneau Cover.

  • The Renegade heavy-duty tonneau cover is built to resist harsh weather like rain, dirt, and snow. That said, there is no hard truck bed cover that is perfectly waterproof or impervious to water. A good tonneau cover will prevent almost all water from entering your truck bed. The Renegade Cover claims to be 90% waterproof. That said you can take extra steps to seal your cover to your truck bed. We do a test of the water leaking for the Renegade Tonneau Cover. We do 3 tests to show how waterproof the cover actually is.
    Disclaimer: This is a real expectation of how your cover should function. This is not a guarantee that it will function exactly like this one. If you have leaking issues that are above and beyond this example we will work with you to ensure you are happy with your purchase. This falls under the limited lifetime warranty. Again we claim the Renegade Cover is 90% waterproof.
    Thanks for watching.

    Can you guys make a video showing how to load a dirt bike on the cover and give suggestions on what accessories to you. I'm debating buying one but there is very little reviews and videos of the product. The Diamond back is another option I'm considering, they seem very appealing mostly because of how many videos are out there. Thanks

    While I was researching your tonneau cover for my new truck I came across this video.
    I heard the person in this video mention that your tonneau cover has rubber hinges. I immediately had the following questions:
    1: Does your company have any literature/videos that provide a close-up detailed look at your cover's hinge design?
    2: Does your company have instructions/videos that detail the replacement method for the rubber hinges?
    3: How long should a customer expect a rubber hinge to last (in real world time/usage)?
    4: What are a customer's options for replacing failed rubber hinges (should they fail) in the future?
    I ask these questions since I am considering your product (even with an order lead time of 25 weeks). Your product has some great features, but I need to know all product details before I spend almost $3,000 on your tonneau cover/accessories.

    I can say that having a dimond back truck cover mine leaks a little on the side and I believe that is due the panel not getting a good seal because there's no clamps in the back. It's good that the company provides strips for the cab drop down for Ford trucks. I got the same from diamond back. I would say do more testing at the joints of each panel because that's where the other review shows massive leaks. I would also show leaks after stressing the cover meaning hauling it's max load capacity during hot and cold days and then perform a drip test. If additional sealing is needed to achieve the claimed 90% water resistant rating then for 3k it should come with the cover and should have proper instructions.

      Great comment. Thank you for taking the time to write it. This cover is about 3 years old and has been stress-tested multiple times. We like your idea of trying it in hot or cold environments. two questions. I notice a piece of rubber stripping in the L-channel nearest the Tailgate...what is the purpose for that? Additionally...those L-channels would seemingly catch a lot of water...where does that drain to? I don't see an obvious drainage point for those. Does it just sit there and have to dry out?

    I can only find one review of your covers on TH-cam, which is kind of suspicious, but since it's the only unbiased review it's the only info I have to go off of. From this guys review though, his cover leaks and he's reached out to your company for warranty service and states he isn't getting his issue taken care of. Can you please comment on why there are almost no reviews on your product other than company videos and why this customer does not have a waterproof cover and has not gotten taken care of by the company? Thank you.

    • @RenegadeCovers
      @RenegadeCovers  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the honest question.
      Richard (the TH-cam review) did in fact receive a leaky cover. That was 100% our fault. We reached out to him and offered to pay to have his cover shipped back to us and we would fix his cover or if he wanted we would expedite the production of a new cover taking about 4 weeks. All shipping expenses paid by us. In addition in either case would give him an accessory of his choice for the trouble he went through.
      He did not like those options. He proposed to have us make him a new cover, in addition to refunding him 50% of his money for his trouble. We didn't think that was fair to our company. We all agreed to refund him 100% and he shipped us back his cover. We wish him the very best.
      This is how we improved our product and services since:
      1. We now water test each cover before it leaves our facility, it gets a sticker on the cover once that is completed. It has to meet our requirements to be water resistant before it leaves our facility.
      2. We have hired another customer support agent to be proactive in our outreach.
      Onto your question about why there are no reviews from our customers. We are a small company, we have about 16 employees. We ask our customers to leave their honest feedback via video and we have only had one customer respond. Out of the hundreds of covers we have sold we do have 35 Google reviews which you can read those here: direct.me/renegadecovers
      And we have 1 unbiased TH-cam review here: th-cam.com/video/FjSOT-sMtl4/w-d-xo.html
      We hope our customers will post their experience with the cover.
      Thank you for your comment,
      The Renegade Team.

      @@RenegadeCovers I didn't demand a refund and feel I have been very patient. Was quoted 8 weeks for the replacement and it took 19 weeks. No big deal I get things take time. I haven't sent mine back because it's sitting in my driveway ready to go waiting for a call from Carson. Also would like to get the information about the brackets that I have asked about multiple times. The current brackets are located right next to the slide handle and catch my knuckles.

      Anyone thought of gas struts to help lift the cab section of the bed cover? I don't have the knowledge and haven't gotten around to messing with it yet but I have attached straps that hold the section just past 90 degrees when opened. It gets heavy opening and closing all day.

    • @RenegadeCovers
      @RenegadeCovers  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RobyWanKenobi Good question. I know last month they custom made gas struts for a customer who had their cover for a couple of years. It could only open about 45 degrees. The engineer was not a fan of how it operated with the cover.

    • @RobyWanKenobi
      @RobyWanKenobi ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RenegadeCovers I keep trying to reverse engineer the DiamondBack cover. 45 degrees would work for me but the struts would need to be placed in a location that would allow loading of tool cases.

    It is pretty obvious that you have an extra tacky or silicon sealant of some kind on the underside seem corners. You can see this clear as day at 2:45, 3:04, and at various times within the video.

    OK, so you added extra rubber seals on the edge of the underside of the cover and it appears to have greatly improved the leaks, great, so exactly why can't the company just redesign the the rubber seal so that the customer that just paid $3000 for the product doesn't have to do it? It's not rocket science to figure this out just use a better rubber seal and put out a quality product

    Hmmm. The timing of this video makes it obvious that it’s a cocky rebuttal to Richards video. Also, I don’t like how your response about him sending back his cover turns out to be false. Not a good look. Sounds like lie after lie from your company! Personally this has changed my mind about going with you guys. I also don’t care for your side by side video with diamondback. It’s like you act as if you’re a consumer that’s giving honest feed back about both while you’re obviously pointing out how much better your product is. The cheesy end to the video when you give their website information tops it off. Y’all seem very sleazy and I’ll definitely be giving my business to diamondback.
